Wow! So similar. I went to Ft. Jackson in January 1970 then to Ft Gordon. I too was in signal corp. Plus I grew up on Hwy 25 between Wilsonville and Columbiana Alabama. That power plant is Ernest Gaston Power Plant. When built in the late 1950’s early 60’s is was a huge financial blessing for Shelby County. Many cousins and uncles worked there.

    Hi Dan,
I forgot a good tip about where your air conditioning leak troubleshooting tip is to look for wear refrigerant oil and dust might be sticking to hoses, lines and fittings.
Rule of thumb in refrigeration gases that a bit of the lubrication oils travel with the refrigerant gases and minor leaks will show if you look for the signs.
I know you have your truck under hood clean so maybe this will help target what is failing without having expensive diagnostic equipment and dyes by using your eyeballs.
Good luck, just thinking out loud are you over a million miles on your AC system?

Put some AC dye in your system or get a squirt bottle with some windex in it and spray those joints in your ac lines to find your leak......

Find a Reefer Shop, if I ever need my A/C worked on again- I’ll be going to Frost King in Fort Worth-, back in the 80’s I carried my sister in-laws car in to get her a/c fixed. You could hang meat in there, you could see the coldness- haha- she had carried it to the dealer 3 times, and it wasn’t working- dealers work on everything- Frost King knows cooling systems - just a thought - y’all be Careful- Texas is in the 100* this month-

Thanks Dan, Teresa, Baily, coordinator and viewers/subscribers.
    for sharing.
Yes Dan the "R" word is being avoided and I am positive it is here. I had to use my vacation time for the words "WNA" (work not available) or go home without pay. South Carolina is a "Will to Work Labor Policy State"... for the past several weeks and work in several Departments to keep my pay coming in the Mfg. job I have now for a global tool company.
Let me ask a question, does Mercer have a network/in-house service mechanics that may specialize in AC work so you could stay at a Mercer location on the cheap while getting your truck repaired. Many service shops will not let their owners stay in their vehicles while it is being worked on. Not sure about the trucking industry.

Dan, I went to Fort Gordon in 1966 for Radioteletype school. I don't know how it was when you were there, but when I was there most all the buildings were left over from WW2. I guess now the whole base is all built up and it's really nice. I was there in July-August and the heat and humidity almost killed me. Couldn't wait to get out of there. I ended up going to Germany which was a nice change in weather and at least I didn't have to go to Vietnam. Good luck and love your videos. Take care of Bailey as she is a sweet dog.

I think I saw that you got the A/C fixed. Good.
You covered some familiar territory on this trip. Am very familiar with that I-95 and 301 corridor. Yes, US301 runs all the way up through southern Maryland and then jogs east just south of Baltimore over to the MD/VA eastern shore. I use 301 frequently to avoid the Washington DC area. Am also very familiar with Ft Gordon and Army Signal Corps in Augusta. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for the effort.

buy a manifold set and vacuum pump from Harbor Freight somewhere along the way and fix it yourself. Once you get some dye in there and find the leak, it might not be that bad to fix. (unless it’s in the cab…)

What I know about Air-Conditioning you could put in a thimble, but many times it’s those almost like a valve core. Insert that’s leaking, so if you go to where you put Freon in if you could put a little soap on those you’ll see if they’re leaking or not those are pretty easy to change.

Well I know it's late. Ac freon with dye with those glasses to see where it leaks with the red flashlight. Comes in a kit. Check and see if it's the compressor. Around pulley ECT. Tells you how long it takes, parts and such. Just might help you because the AC guy just might tell you it's leaking. And how he's got changed the condenser, hoses ECT. Like they tried if me. I just went and put my glasses on and showed him it's not leaking. Then showed him where a o ring was leaky. Said let's pull the expansion valve with filter. Works great. That was in 2021. No problem. Anyway thanks
