    Ambitious trip and nicely shot video. If you'll take some unsolicited survival advice, when you're over water, if it's not on your person, it's not coming with you. An inflatable life jacket and a survival vest with your emergency kit and your PLB are a better choice IMO. Can you imagine trying to fish that raft out of the plane after you've just ditched and the plane is upside down (common with fixed gear)?

      Thank you and I appreciate the advice (both here and in response to turbofan450). The life vest was by my side but I probably should've found a way to attach it to my person. The raft was offered and I had the space to take it with me although, like you said, it probably wouldn't be my primary means of survival after a crash. Glad you enjoyed the video. Should be heading down to Mexico again in a few days so stay tuned!

    Great video!! I'm been wanting to make that flight for a while, I'm in central California but the people around here keep telling me my plane will be gone when I get back to the airport... it looked really safe in your video. Did you have any worries?

    I must disagree (respectfully) with turbofan450’s viewpoint suggestion. Like one of the other comments, I personally prefer being able to see pilot’s movements and expressions when communicating with the ground, especially since there were several instances where “No Response” was the radio “reply” he received. (Great calm and multi-tasking skills were shown).
    The use of multiple cameras added to the watchability of this video, Max. How many cameras did you actually use? Your editing of the multiple camera viewpoints evident once you were outside the aircraft and then had to go back inside gave the video an interesting movie-like quality. Is it difficult to edit these multiple camera shots to make the final video..? Great flying..! Kudos...

      Rich, I appreciate your feedback and taking the time to leave another comment. I usually shoot with 2-4 cameras. (I own 2 and borrow from friends and family for the other 1-2) Editing is one of the most time-consuming parts of producing these videos. (I've actually spent the past 2 days editing a new video) Most of the trouble is just syncing up the audio with each of the cameras. Then its just trimming down what I shot into something that tells the story of the flight. I'm always open to suggestions and feedback!

    Looks like a fun flight, thanks for sharing! I flew in a Cessna 182 years ago, but I don't think it was pressurized. If I heard right, the flight was at 10,500 MSL. Per 14 CFR 135.89, the pilot should have been on oxygen for duration lasting more than 30 mins. Probably not a huge deal flying at the lower limit of the defined altitude, but still something to think about.

      This looks like a part 91 flight. The up to 30 minute requirement is 12,500' - 14,000' for part 91. Above that altitude, oxygen is required regardless of duration. What he did is safe and perfectly legal.

      Russell, thanks for watching! I did not make a return trip video, unfortunately. Returning to the US isn't too bad just make sure you call CBP 24 hours before as well as before takeoff. Safe flight!

    Your enroute Mexican controllers, all speak pretty good English? How much fuel did it take, I imagine you were watching it pretty close. Thanks for posting! I'm new to your channel.

      Buck, welcome! This flight seems so long ago now but if I remember correctly it was between 3:30-4:00 flying and close to 2 hours reserve upon landing. You're correct most of the controllers spoke English well. There were one or two misunderstandings but no significant issues.

    In a 182Tc, You need to let the engine run for 3-5 minutes above 1,000 RPM once you’re parked to let the turbo cool down. Especially in Mexico !!!! Nice landing though.

      I bought that PLB from REI's website for $270. Useful not only for flying but any outdoor excursion if you're a backpacker. My thought was also that if the aircraft were to sink I could simply strap this around my wrist (strap comes included) and activate it.

      The raft actually belongs to another pilot. It was a four-person raft (60lbs IIRC) and I positioned it such that I would be able to pull it out from the passenger side (with the co-pilot seat pulled forward for the flight). I also had a dual cell life vest at my side.

      Travis, I'd assume the fees and fuel prices vary by the airport in Mexico. At Cabo San Lucas (MMSL) I paid $5.63 USD / gallon which included multiple fees for fueling. Ramp fee for 4 nights was around $36 for the 182. There were also several other customs and handling fees which came out to around $200. I'd assume MMSL is one of the more expensive FBOs because of the location. I also included more info in the description about flying to Mexico if you're interested.

    Just a tip for you: the real aviation junkies who are most likely to watch your videos aren't interested in seeing your face or the cabin nor are they interested in seeing the scenery outside for most of the video. We want to see the instrument panel along with the view outside.

      Yea understood. Many of your viewers are enthusiasts who haven't yet been able to become pilots themselves. So they scour TH-cam looking to learn from videos where they can see the instruments and hear the ATC calls etc. Make us..err i mean them feel like they're the ones flying. Anyways, thanks for sharing your flying experiences :)

      turbofan450 I'm going to have to disagree here. I find that kind of video very tedious to watch, and if you look at the aviation channels with the largest numbers of subscribers, they all have a similar style to this video. some inside shots of the pilot(s), some background story, some narration, all make the video enjoyable. If you really want to look at endless panel and windscreen POV, there are tons of sim channels. If you are really an aspiring pilot, flying the plane is the easy part, the planning and enroute decision making are what makes someone a pilot, and what makes aviation videos interesting.
