I flew in cessna like this once, but there was almost no talking like in his video. I guess it was like that because it`s just a small airport, only time the pilot was talking with flight control was before flight.
Can you tell me is it a "Pilot" thing that requires you to shout out loud "Yank That Cyclic" when you see a helicopter? I am assuming that you were unable to shout loud enough for the pilot to hear you from that distance, I wonder if Helicopter pilots yell out "Open Your Flaps" when they see you approaching - Obviously you would not be able to hear them either. But if you both knew that you were both secretly shouting out encouragment to each other, it would be quite comforting i suppose, like "Brothers In Arms"
I really enjoyed your video. I've not been able to fly for several years. My wife got very sick. Your video let me enjoy the sky again. I was building a cozy mark iv, but that had to go also
Loved the "instructor voice" , the camera work, heck just about everything; however, being your Dad's age, I can't abide tossing the smart phone "projectile" onto the back seat. You may have tossed it in a soft-sided flight bag that I did not see. Also, I don't care how hot it is, I was taught to never flew with shorts on for obvious reasons. You are one of the most informative flight vlogers on the net (along with steveo kinevo). Always look forward to your posts.

I went to a private airfield kind of, like there was a little probably 1,600 ft air strip and a restaurant. And I was there for a boy scout event, and a car show. And I was able to fly a plane for the first time. It is really fun and not scary. Really enjoyed and nice video.
Every flight sim has the 172 modeled so the visibility over the dash is barely a sliver at the top of the screen. IRL 172 this man has amazing feld of view over the dash.

Hey Josh! Listen, I'm not even interested in flying and know nothing about it but I watched every second of your video straight through and loved you! You have such a great presentation style and a clear, calm voice. Very nice work, sir. Thank you so much!
Hey Josh, I know this is an old video. But I always loved the fact that you just when up for a few touch and go's, but still find opportunity to teach. True CFI at heart. Love your videos. I watch a lot of them multiple times. "Stay Inspired"-Dewey Paul, Jr
Thank you for taking me up with you today! Enjoyed the flight
I appreciate you opening the window for me
Beautiful weather
(Needed those dr Lic for that long taxi)
Man, when you took that plane down the runway. And took off, that made me feel good!!!! That's was awesome!!!
I don't think I'd find this relaxing. There's soo much going on
I find it relaxing because of the full focus required. Real life is inaudible. Plus you can go to some cool places.
not a pilot but i guess when you’re flying it’s easier and more relaxing
@@marcus2364 these comments are kinda old but yeah speaking as a student pilot it does get easy and relaxing especially with consistency
I flew in cessna like this once, but there was almost no talking like in his video. I guess it was like that because it`s just a small airport, only time the pilot was talking with flight control was before flight.
Once you know how to fly and are good at it it doesn’t take much effort because it all comes natural
This is the first video I ever saw from him and I subscribed immediately after it... I still do not regret that at all to this day...
Missis Miggins best.comment.ever
Missis Miggins that would be wholesome
As a Blackhawk crew chief, I can assure you no pilot has ever said “open your flaps”
Only on auto rotate where they have to pull back on the cyclic just before touchdown.

Don Whitehead why should you never fly with shorts on?
Mr Bob - "... for obvious reasons." LOL!!!!
Long pants and long sleeves (natural fabrics) to reduce injury in a post-crash fire.
I fly with a fire proof suit at all times, mask and all. Gotta be prepared for every scenario.
Smart man putting safety first always .
I'm currently in the process of getting my license, I've only completed 2 hours so far. It has been an overwhelming couple of lessons and is great to be able to watch this and see what right looks like. I plan I watching this every few hours in hoping that more and more will be understandable every time. Great to be able to relate and learn off of your videos.
How you doing nowadays??
Hello... I just enrolled to piloting school... How engaging is it?
This video is so old, but i watch it again every now and then. Idk, it just has a special vibe…
This is his best video ever, I have watched this soo many times. He should definitely make more videos with the GoPro like this ñ!
me too
This is a really good channel if your not a pilot. Very clear and thorough.
I went to a private airfield kind of, like there was a little probably 1,600 ft air strip and a restaurant. And I was there for a boy scout event, and a car show. And I was able to fly a plane for the first time. It is really fun and not scary. Really enjoyed and nice video.
Your ATIS is so nice and slow, my local one is a guy whispering as fast as he can into a mic inside a pringles can.
Just got my PPL, I love watching your videos, it always reminds me how better I can be, keep it up Josh!
Getting as close to the runway as possible before initiating that flare is the hardest part of flying.
11:34 idk why but this reminds me of Flight Sim X

king chris aaannnnnd we got a hot air balloon doing a vertical with us
@@eclipticarcher6008 holy s*** a balloon going 400 just passed by tower.
And a 74 pushing back with reverse thrust & full flaps!
So true
I love how you are so particular with procedure and how you explain all of the little details to your viewers. Subscribing now.
Every flight sim has the 172 modeled so the visibility over the dash is barely a sliver at the top of the screen.
IRL 172 this man has amazing feld of view over the dash.
Ooooooo you didn't call gear up on your last climb. Tssk Tssk
When the controller said “I told you to follow him” I felt that in my soul😂 also a tower controller
I'm here because this is real he's not in a simulation at all. It's real life. I'm in flight school and this is a great educational video thank you for content!
Loved the camera from the pilot point of view. This would be a great video to watch before a solo.
I take a strong interest in flying planes now. And I live in Austin. I'm thinking about doing a flying program at Austin-Bergstrom.
Kylar The Enhancer you only live once
Ahhhh…….loved this. Takes me back to the 1980’s when I had a PPL (Australia) and flew a Cessna 172. 👍🤗🤩
Such a cool video! My grandpa who's 91 had a cessna and that akways inspired me to want to fly sometime too.
This video is super helpful thank you very much!
I watch your videos to motivate myself to go flying
Do you have wings?
@@Dacite6 🤣
Brought back great memories of learning how to fly a Cessna 172 back in 1988. I gave flying up because I became a dad and couldn’t afford it anymore. My rental back then cost me $49.00 an hour wet. I can’t imagine what a rental costs today for an hour. It must be nice to have GPSs and IPads to help out. Beautiful looking plane by the way.
Hi Mr.aviation , I am ATC you are a great pilot I enjoy watching your videos
I suggest to write ( x ) instead of (c ) to indicate cross RWY's ,TWY' , Radials ,DME etc... it's in our document x means cross I wish you a good flight
Atc Atc good tip!
Ahmed AHMED What is the best way to become ATC?
He commented that 1 year ago, he won't respond now. However I suggest googling it. Finding someone on forums who is an ATC, check your local universities for ATC jobs and other jobs at airports that can give you some extra credentials when you apply for an ATC. Never give up and you'll succeed one day!
You appear to be a fine pilot sir. Thanks for taking me along niner-niner-one!
Had my first discovery flight yesterday. Instructor was nice and patient. I hope one day I can fly as confidently as you do and make videos doing so. Thank you!
I literally have no idea wtf people on the comms are saying sometimes
Just listen to coms on your free time.
@@itisannona You know you're a flight student when you listen to comms instead of music lol (me literally constantly hahaha)
@@Isabella-ry9dz IKR. My family made me quit flight school but I still listen to them.
@@itisannona Oh no!!!! That sucks, I'm sorry you don't get to fly :(
@Sean Neilson Money. They think it is a waste of money.
You should do more of these point of view videos they're cool.
saying gear up on a fixed gear airplane never heard that before until this video, that's cool
I heard that little AirForceProud95 reference just after takeoff. ;)

when did he say it?
what "step on the brakes?"
"Positive Rate gear up" in a fixed gear 172.
Dude that was awesome. You've made me even more nervous to begin my journey but I won't give up
This is the video that made me fall in love with the Cessna Skyhawk so much that I bought one and learned to fly. Keep it up Josh!! You are an inspiration to many!! 💯
Such a good video!! The pov view the transition from cockpit auto to headset audio when you put on your headset. The instructional talk. I would hoping to see you touch the clouds but they were about 1,000 feet above as you remained at pattern altitude. Great video outstanding light touch landings. I hope to do these kind of videos soon as I approach my first solo. Would love to fly with you
* Me confused about wth is going on*
Josh * tries to explain*
Me * that’s not how X plane works.*
edit: this comment war is great

That is how i work
Lol this is real life not a fucking game
Karen your name explains why you’re so humorless
Droid im just joking too lol chill
man, you had to crank of that altimeter at startup. good to see the turboprop head home. a turboprop and a piston working the pattern at the same time could be fun. I Wasn't expecting right traffic. I dig the GUMP check on departure. I didn't hear one on approach. :)
love his self motivation during landing ! amazing
Great video Josh! Hard to believe it was a year ago you took me up on my birthday! Enjoy your spring break!
PistolPete63 Thanks, Pete! Hope you're doing well!
I'll be learning how to fly for the first time in the next few weeks so thank you for the video! It's helping me to review a few things over before starting the program. I'm very very excited.
The head cam is way better than fixed ones, feels like you are the pilot and you can see everything without changing cameras. Well done, head cam.
Yes...really puts the viewer "in the cockpit" brings back memories....Love it!
That was a really great 41 mins! I plan on doing my PPL soon and enjoy your videos. Great job!
