    Have said it before, and will say it again, this channel is a dream come true. Having real pilots explain, in detail, about their aircraft, is a military aviation nerd's nirvana. =D
    Erik's walk-arounds are the type of material I willingly make room from my schedule to sit down and just watch!
    Stellar work as always!

      @@ErikJohnston Well, these folks can go... do whatever, while the rest of us sit down and enjoy a detailed video of a real flippin' B-1b Lancer, with commentary and footage that can't be found anywhere else! xD

      I'm just more astonished at what the military considers "Unclassified/ Clear for public distribution" with these videos because even working on older Alpha& Lima model Blackhawks it was stressed not to put any new info in the public sphere yourself or even correlate/ confirm what's out there already. I'm guessing the sit down with the squadron CO and his boss' PAO must've been a real fun one for this bird.

      What I discovered is the plane Jane walk-arounds(like the OV 10)are just as interesting as the supermodel walk-arounds.

      @@ErikJohnston if you hadn't started doing something like this, perhaps someone would have . I honestly don't know why their wouldn't be more people doing this. Some of these greatbold planes are gone or retired. Even if they are retired, it's still great to listen to some of the folks who flew and helped design them. I see it as no different than all these channels covering all these cars and all their quirks and features but for us airplane nuts. I think it would be something I would do for free or nothing if I could. So many planes with so many stories and they were all different. I recently found some cool videos of some of the designers of the sr71 engines. The guy was a genius, was funny and had a way of explaining this complicated stuff most of us mortals could understand. And sadly were losing many if these brilliant folks more and more. I appreciate and love geeking out to all these videos. More stuff than I could learn from pile of Jane's military aircraft books I have since I was a kid. Thank you and keep it up!

    I was a WW2 fanatic when I was a kid and fell in love with the Air Force. The B1 was the coolest plane ever back in the early 70s, and I was so pissed when Carter mothballed it. Reagan bringing it back was when I learned politics and which side I would live in. This plane has been a joy to watch over the years and it's cool knowing that these airmen were not even born when these were built, as with the 52. This was incredible to watch and will take more interest into your work. Thank you!!!

    This was outstanding thank you! Back in about 1993-94 I was able to walk up and down a path at the end of the runway at McConnel AFB (when they had the B-1s in the 1990s) and watch them do power take-offs. Almost straight up for a bit, (right over the top of me) level out and then come back around, touch and go and do it again. It was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. My wife-to-be's Dad was retired Navy and she had base privileges - she took me out to watch - otherwise I never would have had that awesome experience. Also, I have a 3 ft. long 1/48 scale Revell B-1 on my shelf. I'd like to buy another BONE kit but they don't make them anymore unfortunately and people are charging $250 or more on Ebay. Again, very well done walkaround.

    I’m amazed that the military is comfortable discussing all the features and capabilities of this plane so publicly, especially all the modern weapon integrations. If they can share this info, I can’t imagine what’s still top secret. It must be some crazy mind-blowing tech. I wonder if the military’s willingness to share this much info is to mess with our enemies heads by showing them how advanced even our old technology is.

    • @str33tkng
      @str33tkng ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I can assure you that they don't share everything. As a former mechanic on these jets, there are many things that have sub systems and capabilities that are used on case-by-case bases. Everything that can be shared was vetted by public affairs ahead of time in these videos.

    • @RaulEdu33
      @RaulEdu33 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      During my airforce contractor days, I built equipment and high tech tool management systems for servicing the B1. Spent years working at airbases and training airmen, as a civilian, there were many systems I wasn't allowed to inspect. The B1 like many other military crafts can be upgraded easily with newer modules of classified technology. I'm sure the tech displayed on this video is of no concern.

    • @ray32245mv
      @ray32245mv ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@str33tkng That's what I've kind of gleaned over the years, the generic specs we can find in public source really leave out just how customizable these airframes and munitions really are. I'm trying to recall exactly what video it was, but a while back I came across one where a former Tomcat pilot was discussing a particular mission, and explained how him, the crew chief, and some others worked late into the night screwing together a customized bomb, just for one specific target.

High alpha, dirty and then right over the numbers FULL BURNERS. Don't need to tell you it was organ rearranging LOUD. Set off alarms, broke windows, women went into labor, animals fled the state haha.. I find out the EWO was from Irmo SC "20 miles away" and the B-1 was on its way to Shawfest KSSC. Never get tired of these videos! I have built models of this plane as a kid along with the p38, f14, sr71 and this plane. Bought the janes books covering many if these planes and the shuttle back in the day. Learned way more detail in this than any of those books and stuff they didn't cover. No idea it was a tight as it is for the 4 person crew. I really enjoyed each person showing off their specialty with regard to the plane. I had no idea the terrain following electronics were as advanced and can do what they do. I was surprised this plane has a max of only 1.4 g. You wouldn't think that with the terrain filling feature. The last of the swept wing planes. Gone are the f111 and f14. I miss the f14. Nothing like hearing that at afterburner takeoff or fully swept forward trying to fly with older ww2 planes. It was a treat to see the assortment of bombs and cruise missles it can carry. Seeing those jdams with the smart kits just made me think of the kits were supplying to Ukraine for their bombs. Or perhaps were also supply the bombs and kits. Seeing videos of those recently they are devastating. Russia sadly has a version called the fab 500 I think that is similar and very effective from distance. I would be curious when they stopped using this for nuclear deterant role. I imagine many planes can do this now with the b2 and b52 and new bombers in development. Fun to see one of these parked outside of sac museum in Nebraska last year with the sr71 and many others. Sadly no in this level of detail and not still operational. Thank you for another terrific video! Just curious if their is a plane or planes you want to cover but haven't? Thanks!
    Also want to say a thank you to the pilot and crew that helped make this video possible!

    I really miss these since they left McConnell. Very cool to watch em take off with afterburner on!

    Seeing one of these in person is absolutely striking. The size of an airliner yet supersonic down low. Would love to see one fly, I’ve only seen them parked.

    Finally it's here. i remember you replying to my comment a while back that a B-1B video is in works. I couldn’t wait for it. Finally it's here. As usual it'll be amazing.
    I had the pleasure of watching 2 B-1B's out of Anderson Air Force Base in Guam perform a flypast at Aero India 23 (Asia's largest airshow) in Feb. They lit their Burners right in the crowds face 'and i remember my ears were ringing for a solid minute. I couldn't believe a planes engines can make your ears ring like that. And it's not like i was not used to loud jets. Before that i saw displays by F-16, F-35, Rafale, SU-30 etc. but the Bone, man it shook me from inside. What an amazing experience.
    Sooo whats next? CH-47/53 or Apache 😂

    Fantastic walk-around video. I have always thought the B1 is a beautiful airframe, I'm lucky enough to live a few miles from RAF Fairford, watched some B1's come in last week, stunning aircraft.

    The walk-around of the B-52 was amazing also! Really interesting! I know much is classified but it's nice we're able to learn about these planes since we paid for them while making sure certain info is hidden from our adversaries!

    So thankful and love everything you do. Was so in depth and entertaining. Ive been fortunate enough to seen the bone in person doing what it does best...and man does it delete with extreme prejudice. I admit i am impressed to see a pilot nervous but still on top of his game. Poor guy was swallowing so hardyou know he was nervous but he didn't skip a beat. But not often you see a pilot that nervous. Just shows those guys have thier poop in a group.

    I'm a first class machinest CAD/CAM programmer, I made two parts for the B1 Lancer. The parts were on part of the wing, inboard near where the wing retractacts. Left and right side.
    I also machined parts for the A10 Warthog. So sad to see the Warthog going away. B1 is a beautiful jet, when the wings are retracted she looks so pretty. So deadly.

    I met a B-1 USAF pilot at an air show in the U.K. I said it’s the first time I had seen the Rockwell B-1 International in real life, and he congratulated me as in all his years he didn’t know that was it’s real name.

    Seeing them fly in videos, they look so graceful that you expect them to be smaller than the B-52...and then you get to stand next to one (Wright Pat Air Force Museum) and you realize that the B-1 is HUGE!!!!!!!

    These things used to fly right over my house on the reservation in MT, always at around dusk.
    They were very loud and fast and left quite a lasting impression, perhaps that was the intent. They looked like a cross between a dragon and a spaceship.
