    This is the best lightsaber tutorial I have seen on TH-cam, definitely easy to build and much better quality than the crap hardware store builds

      Jackson Childress ok but to be fair, he did use machines that not everyone owns. The hardware store builds are for people who don’t own these machines and wand something that’s relatively simple to build, while also looking nice

    Trying to build a Darth Sion hilt that I want to build from scratch. Ran across your channel and very happy I found it. With your videos looks like I can start building this saber.

    This is just awesome! I 3d printed a hilt but I want something more durable and heavy. I still may print some of the details for the hilt to customize mine more. I have your playlist saved so I can come back to it for reference. Excellent job! Now I'm wishing I still had my woodworking lathe. I could have used it on the slowest speed and used my carbide tools on it.

    Thanks for this bro!! I just started building a PVC hilt as it is what I had in the garage. I borrowed my mates mitre saw and have my dremel and went to work. Actually quite happy with it! With make a spacer to hold the blade as the pvc was a little bit wider than an inch. Nearly done. Just a few more pieces for decorative purposes then I’ll move onto the blade.

    This is awesome man. I was at school the other day and our lathe got fixed so I started messing around with it. Sure enough I was like “man this looks like the start to a lightsaber.” I started some research and your videos came up. Man I hope to be able to show off mine soon 🤘🏼gonna be mimicking your blade with the PCB thank you for the high quality videos 🦾

    Have you ever had a problem with the 1-1/4 pipe fitting into the 1-1/2" tube? I purchased 6061 aluminum pipe with the 1/8" wall. The 1-1/4" doesn't actually fit into the 1-1/2" pipe. I was able to hammer a piece onto the larger pipe, but it looks like it will require a decent amount of sanding to make it work.

    • @andrewhuppert
      @andrewhuppert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As an aside, I thought it might be that one or the other tube was bent; it wasn't. I cut 10 pieces from the length of 1-1/4 and none of them fit inside of the 1-1/2". They're all marked as 1/8" wall thickness. I managed the get around it by grinding out the inside of the 1-1/2" pieces; all 90 of them.

      I'm dealing with this same issue now. I was planning on sanding. Too bad he did respond to you about the issue. I would like to know if he had to deal with the same issue.

    This is excellent and you've inspired me to build one ( first time build ). Would you mind sending a link to where you purchased the 38mm x 3mm ? They only appear to make 38.2mm here in Australia and the 32mm is slightly to big to slide inside

    Just came upon this video and it inspired me to build a hilt myself. Just had a quick question regarding the 1/8” pieces of the handle should they be 1/4” pieces? After I modeled them in a CAD program is looks more like what your final product was.

  • @andrewhuppert

    Does the red “knob” set-screw on the emitter also pass through the 1-1/4” pipe to hold the blade in place?

    I'm just getting into the electronics of this build. The switch that you use has a note on it that says you need to add a resistor to keep from frying the LED, but you didn't use one on your build. Is it because of the electronics in the board you used? I don't want to fray any of my parts if I can help it.

    • @StateofBuild
      @StateofBuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There was a resistor on my board already. You need to read your sound board manual to determine if you need a resistor or not

    Awesome saber! I bought the exact same size aluminum tubing and it won't fit together no matter what I do any advice?

    • @StateofBuild
      @StateofBuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They might be bit tight due to burs or corroding. Sand the edges and the outside/inside of the tube.

    Awesome build man! For anyone reading this, don’t EVER EVER wear gloves on a miter saw. EVER. The metal shavings may be warm but that piece could slip and your day will be way worse.

      I shopped online. Stockcarsteel had the best rate at the time. I found at least 10 online suppliers, all had similar prices plus or minus.

    Hi following your build! But i'm confused about the pipe diameters? if your inner tube is 1.25 in OD then the outside bigger pipe is 1 3/8 in OD if it was 1.5 in OD with 1/8 in wall then you're off by 1/8???

    • @StateofBuild
      @StateofBuild  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I see your confusion. There are two walls you need to account for when calculating diameter. If OD is 1.5 then subtract 1/8 twice for the walls on both sides and you’ll get 1.25 ID.

    I have the same measurements of aluminum but they just WONT fit together...anything you did differently?

    • @StateofBuild
      @StateofBuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to sand the exterior in some spots to get them to fit better. Sometimes corrosion increases the diameter

  • @tranceghost
    @tranceghost 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the inner diameter of the O-Rings 1 3/8", or is that the outer diameter?

    • @StateofBuild
      @StateofBuild  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      OD, it’s 1 3/16 for inner diameter

    • @andrewhuppert
      @andrewhuppert 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StateofBuild where did you source your O-Rings? I can't seem to find any on-line. I've found 1-3/8" OD, 1-3/16" ID and 3/32" or 3/16" width, but I can't seem to find a 1/8" width with the 1-3/8" OD & 1-3/16" ID dimensions anywhere.
