    *Soundboard solution:* Grab yourself one of those plastic toy Disney Rey lightsabers. No one is buying them so you can typically find one at a Target for around 15.00 - 20.00 and just break it open and take the soundboard out of that. They actually sound pretty good if you swap the speaker it comes with and have sounds for clashing and swinging around the lightsaber. Plus they are super tiny and fit into just about anything.

      Is there a video of pic of this? I saw this video and also thought of trying to make a saber designed off the Lifegiver or Orgus Din's lightsaber from SWTOR and also thought of how to make a Black Core blade. Currently my idea is using 2 different sized polycarbonate tubes with black tinted cellophane in the center one and clear in the outer one, letting the single LED, not yet sure on my color choice, be there to try and light through it all.
      Would love to see yours just if anything to see how the blade looks.

    Tip for cleaner threads: turn the tap CCW a half turn every 2 turns CW, to break the chips... otherwise the aluminum can load up on the tap and gall to itself, peeling off some of the threads, which allows the screw to strip out the remaining threads easier.

    This is what I like to see, making them from scratch. Sure, there are several places to buy pre-built sabers, but making it yourself from scratch really gives you a unique, and customized saber, and allows you to know the ins and outs of your own build so later you can repair it if damaged (and you *should* be smacking your friends with it, etc., so damage will happen over time).
    Great video, great quality components, absolutely awesome!

    Lmao the funniest thing is, even if you take those 12 dollar lightsabers and rip out the soundboard, the cost of all the parts is already over 100 dollars. I am currently trying to build a lightsaber from scratch using this video, but what I've found is that many of the electronical parts from LED supply actually changed their names, or no longer carry the item. I've been forced to use Amazon to get many of the parts, and while this is not bad, they are much more expensive. The polycarbonate tubing is over 30 dollars, and all the electronics together cost $53.68. I still believe that I can build it, its just a bit more expensive than what I had prepared for. Hope this helps for anybody who wants to undergo a project like this.

    have you experimented with filling the poly-carbonate tube with fiber optics in order to carry the light better throughout the blade? Maybe one layer of the cellophane in order to hide the appearance of the fiber optic rods, then fiber optic rods through the center to better carry the light from the led through the center in order to make the blade brighter all the way to the end.

    It would cost me way too much to do this diy build. I'd have to buy literally every single thing they use here including the circular saw and the soldering kit. If I did this, it would take a while. It took me two months to softmod my Xbox because I had to purchase all the needed utilities plus a new DVD drive for it. It's hard doing the more costly projects I like doing in a timely manner when all I've got is my SSI to my name.

      This is why they shouldn’t have females do videos like this, not because women don’t have the smarts to do it or what ever someone’s gonna try to make it seem like I’m tryna say, but because there’s gonna be people like this who would see stuff inappropriately, when they wouldn’t if there was another dude.

    Question for you. I have a Savi's Workshop saber from Galaxy's Edge. I'm not sure if you're aware, but there's a strip of LEDs inside the blade itself. Not like others that have modules in the hilt. Anyway, because the LEDs are in the blade, You don't exactly get a consistent solid color the length of the blade. You see bands of color from the individual LEDs. It's not horrible, but it is annoying. Especially considering the cost of the sabers. Is there a simple fix to hide the bands of color? Maybe more cellophane? I just assume the more you use, the less intense the color will be though. But, hopefully it would hide the bands. Maybe it's not worth it or maybe there's a better solution. I don't know.

    I built my own wooden saber, but it’s not a lightsaber. It’s an early Turkish Saber. I’ve carved Celtic Knots on the blade & guard. I’ve also carved the words “Keltic Kilij” on the fuller. The total length is 38”

      There's actually a stainless steel fiber made for black projects made like spiders silk capable of 10k lb tensile strength from a 1mm strand.

    Question:
    Would this build work as well during the day in sunlight as it would indoors and at night?
    Coz if so, I'm sold, coz this seems like the best way to make custom Lightsaber without the outrageous prices and restricted parts of every custom saber site I've visited

    • @commscan314
      @commscan314 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember that the sun outshines everything. If you want daylight performance, I would probably advise not even using LEDs at all, instead having a reflective material in the middle of the blade to make it shine anyway.
