So SoundScan is no more! And I'm not sure why more people aren't talking about this, but not to worry. It's been replaced with another agency that will collect your music sales data for you. Let's get to work.
SoundScan was the agency that would track sales of your singles and your albums and they would work in conjunction with charts like Billboard and give us some really good data to work with. However, there were many entertainment data collection agencies that often did the same thing. Or we're just owned by the same people. So a lot of those companies just merged. And once the dust settled, it gave us Luminate. Luminate is a data collection agency that works just like SoundScan did, and today I'm going to show you how to register a song with them so they can track your sales data. So there's not an official site that you can go to and log into your credentials. In order to register yourself with Luminate you're filling out a Google Docs form. I'll leave links in the description, but if you don't have time for that you can simply Google "register with Luminate" The very first link that pops up... you'll click on that, and that brings you to a Support page for MRC data, which is the company that owns Luminate. On that page, there are links to register a song title and an album title.

So after you are with a digital distributor (placed on most platforms), a PRO, sound exchange, sound trust....then none of these things take care of this exact objective somehow? If your album or song took off somehow, wouldn't you pop up on these charts regardless? I thought a digital distributor itself would take care of this.
