This certainly brings back memories. In the 80's when we were syndicating "The Cross Canada Report" an all Can-con music show there were only two artists that got their own hour long segment. The late Doug Bennett of Doug and Slugs and the other was Ian. Both shows were hilarious interviews. Funny men.
This is a Canadian rock classic with one of the funniest music videos all of the classic SCTV actors jamming with a Canadian rock icon fyi Dave Thomas is Ian's brother
Rock on Ian Thomas as I get to know you better listening to your earlier music! I learned about you for the first time back in 1995 when I played The Art of Living to death! You are a Modern Man living a Life in Song!
COMPLETELY AGREED, John. Remember; IAN THOMAS HIMSELF blew the whistle on the PAYOLA SCANDAL THAT FUCKED OVR LOTS OF CANADIAN MUSICIANS back in the 1970s. "Harmony" is a continuation of "Liars". Aftet he detailed in a "Behind The Vinyl" episode (the "Painted Ladies" 1), I became more intrigued by his career & when "Painted Ladies" only reached #26 on the U.S. HOT 100 on Billboard back in early 1974 (the song was released in L8 1973), I was astounded bc it was received HEAVY AIRPLAY that warranted #1. Nvrthlss, Ian Thomas (along w/brother Dave Thomas & Rick Moranis; a.k.a.: The McKenzie Brothers) r ENTERTAINMENT ROYALTY!!!!! BTW, nice 2 c Dave Thomas in that video.
I had to see for myself who was singing this one particular song. To my ears with no other reference it sounds so much like David Wilcox doing the honours. It has his inflections, tone, and delivery style on this one particular track. e.g. Listen to "Laying Pipe."
Charlie R.; So Ironic that u mentioned Dave Wilcox's "Layin' Pipe". "Harmony" came out in 1985; "Layin' Pipe" in 1987. Rhythmically speaking; very similar indeed. On par w/Gary Wright's "Blind Feeling" (from 1976's "Dream Weaver") & Journey's 1983 "Send Het My Love". Dude; how SPOT-ON U R!!!!! W/all due respect 2 Wilcox, Ian Thomas is definitely a TRUE MUSICAL PIONEER!!!!! Al9ng w/older bro Dave, I SALUTE IAN FUCKIN' THOMAS 'TIL I DIE!!!!! H.F.Y.!!!!!
"Harmony" = "Parity" for raw materials (instead of for bank credit extensions). Yes, the planet can be ECO-nomically and ECO-logically 'sustainable' (in balance).
He has said the Add Water and Riders On Dark Horses albums didn't sell that well. I think that's the main reason why there's still no CD. Those masters are now owned by a different record company, so there's still a possibility we could get a CD release.
The irony of this song; David Wilcox (a fellow Canadian) indirectly "ripped off " this song when he did "Layin' Pipe ". I c major similarities btwn this Ian Thomas song ("Harmony") & Wilcox's "Layin' Pipe" from a rhythmic standpoint. On par w/The Chiffons' "He's So Fine" & George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" along w/Gary Weaver's "Blind Feeling" & Journey's "Send Her My Love". The rhythm from these respective pairings is so similar that (outside of The Chiffons/George Harrison) O'm surprised that legal action hasn't been more prevalent as it pertains 2 "plagiarism" & "copyright infringement".
It's not Kramer,it's Canadian comedian Eugene Levy. Ian Thomas is the brother of SCTV actor Dave Thomas,Dave Thomas appears in the video as do John Candy and Eugene Levy(both also ex-SCTV).
Another example of timeless talent from the higher mind of a great Canadian artist! What a beauty, eh?!
Love ❤ when Dave appears in brother Ian's music videos ❤

Another gem Ian!
Good memories from the 70s and 80s when Ian used to tour at the Coronet in Kitchner all the time
And the Maples Inn in Pointe Claire on the West Island of Montreal the Glider album tour 👍 ❤
Great tune .... great guy ... and a much needed message ... particularly here in Canada!

Dougie Franklin had to sell his monster truck to fund this video. If his brother Ben wins the election, he might get some of it back, eh?
you guys notice that the soldier that drops in on the table is Kramer?

MIght be Eugene Levy?
Definitely Eugene Levy!
@@Yeeeti don't forget Dave Thomas too. Hence, without him and Nick moranis there'd be no strange Brew for SCTV.
@@curtis2075 Curt; that'd b RICK Moranis. Nvrthlss, he & the Thomas Brothers (Dave & Ian) r ENTERTAINMENT ROYALTY!!!!!
