Love finding these hidden gems. He play with touch not far off a mother’s lovin touch for her child. But can does have that flesh mute palm to squash out those others from ringin just a bit.
Thought this guy is amazing at playing convential style guitar. No way can he be equally good at slide. I was totally freakin wrong. Amazing slide player too! Holy crap!!! Reminded me a little of "When the Levee Breaks" at times. Badass song and playing!!!
It takes a God given talent to create these sounds, or a natural muse. He reminds me of Robert Johnson. If you could just bring him, Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, Bonamassa, and Eric Clapton to back them up, that would be special.
Plays a fine slide guitar. I believe he took the slide much further than George Harrison. The repetiore is deeper. Radio is stuck in a corporate funk and misses out on great performances.
+Bill Southard True that: a more accurate taxonomy would be to classify the instrument as a Resonator Guitar, under which we would then specify that it's electric and has no cone. In common parlance the nomenclature of "Dobro" most frequently connotes any six stringed instrument that is played with a slide and has a distinctive round inlay under the bridge to provide a distinctively metallic tone that differs from a solid body or hollow body guitar. Thank you for the clarification.
Where has this been? I love his slide playing and everything else he does?❤
I would love to hear Joe B on a National 12 string!!!

Seeing as JB is the only one alive apart from Clapton who has a hand problem, that might be difficult, but I catch your drift.
Joe rules !!!
Please note (and change it in the title), as TrustPioneer says, this is Ry Cooder's "Feelin' bad blues". Not a solo.
Juan Ortiz Greco - I thought this sounded familiar. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
Feelin bad blues/ when the levee breaks
Oohh....i was waiting that someone write it 😤
Feeling Bad Blues / The River (Joe's own song from 2004)

Its not Dobro. It is a Chandler Lectroslide guitar.

but its not actually a resonator....its just meant to LOOK like one.
it`s right trevor annan, but`s great
what tuning is this??
its not standard e for sure...
pretty sure it's "open E"
E-A-E-G#-B-E
Or "F"
In an interview once he said he liked playing in open E
Sounds like Open F. Not sure the configuration -- a few posts north of this one some guys take it apart better....
what's the song
+Quinton Frisby "The River" that is, to my knowledge, an original -- Here's another recording: th-cam.com/video/tQfOE5nm4i0/w-d-xo.html
Thanks guy!
This is his interpretation of Ry Cooders "Feeling Bad Blues".
Joe is a genius!
