I installed the 8100 yesterday in my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road…and it went in super easy. I followed the instructions in the video, and installed the microphone per your instructions. The only thing I did differently was, I used a couple dabs of hot glue where the mic sits in the “mic mount” and it seems to be held in place very well. With apple car play in my truck now is like night and day! Based on how easy it was to put in with all the pre-wiring you guys do on your end, made it a no brainer. Everything works as it should and the sound quality is amazing for me. With all the other abilities the 8100 has that I had been missing out on, I only wish I had done this a couple years ago! All these new features are amazing… Fire stick next with the HDMI? It really was as easy to install as you did it in the video! Thanks for all your help and support on this seamless install!

Great question! A wired connection is still the most reliable connection at this price point. There are way more expensive head units that offer wireless CarPlay but, again, they’re super expensive!
Great video. My camera is in the rearview mirror. I wont be able to see the back up camera view on the new head unit? Is there a way to run a wire from the rearview mirror along with the microphone cable?
You'll be able to continue viewing your rear camera as factory in your rearview mirror! Unfortunately there's no easy way to get all that wiring down from the rearview to behind the head unit!
12 tundra limited with w/o nav but have JBL and factory back seat sub. Wanted to confirm if or if not a maestro idatalink module is warranted to match the stock Jbl system’s impedance when installing this Sony h.u. ? Excellent tutorial.
Thanks for your kind words! We use the PAC module with this bundle, not Maestro.

Great job, that is a lot of work. Do you have a system that fits so it looks factory, flat on the dash?
At this time we only offer the 8100 for that year range Tundra.
Does the screen adjust so that its sitting more parallel with you? That angle where its angled up at the ceiling looks stupid and not practical. I wish they mounted the screen on a ball so it could be adjusted for the driver. The screen is suppose to be adjustable but I didn't see you move it around at all.
Thanks so much for your comment and suggestions! You can absolutely angle the head unit to be more at a 90 degree. This customer preferred the position as in the video because the display was pointing more toward his eye versus at his chest or lower. Functionally, this positioning is the easiest to use but we totally understand where you’re coming from. You can absolutely change the angle if you desire.
Do you have to use the microphone that comes with it or can you still use the factory mic?
Yep, using the provided Sony mic is required with our kit.
So the 2007 did NOT have a touch screen radio. so which radio was put in to replace the Original factory radio?
This customers 2007 had a factory TOYOTA radio.
I'm thinking about purchasing this unit for my 2012 tundra limited. Does this unit have vehicle maintenance settings like the factory unit? And is it bluetooth for calls but needs a physical connection for carplay to be active?

The 8100 does not have the maintenance settings integrated. It does offer bluetooth but only wired CarPlay.
I have a 2010 Sequoia w/ JBL and the backup cam in the rear view mirror. Would the backup cam still work as it does stock?
We don't have a Sequoia bundle at this time but we're working on it!
Is the mic clip available yet? Didnt see where to order just that little mount clip.
Yep, we have it - it actually takes the same mic clip as the one we have for a 4Runner and Tacoma on the site. We still have to build out our product page for the Tundra version but if you want it you can order from the other pages currently.

Thank you for your comment! We don't currently offer the add-on backup camera but this unit, but any aftermarket backup camera can be made to work with this unit!
To my knowledge, no back up camera is included. Is there a way to buy a WIRED back-up camera that hooks into this? THAT is the big question, I have had no luck getting an answer.

I have a 2008 Tundra SR5. The factory radio doesn't look like what is shown in this install video. Looks much older. Will this bundle still be plug and play?

Absolutely! Any aftermarket backup camera can be used with these units and integrated with the head unit!

Is the USB adapter cable that you installed in the cigarette lighter spot included with the kit?
We actually include a kit that connects right to one of unit blank switch locations now. It’s so much easier!

Yep, they all maintain steering wheel controls!
Is there a reason the existing mic wires can't be adapted and used?
Great question - not a great answer other than the fact that the bundle requires the Sony mic to work for voice commands, etc.

Does this work with wireless CarPlay?
Not at this time, but we do provide a front facing USB kit with our bundle that allows you to create an easily accessible USB connection for CarPlay.

Is the insulation the same on a 2015?

Does the OBD need to stay connected?
Yep, to allow your reverse camera to trigger in the head unit if you currently have a factory backup camera.
What kind of ratchet tool are you using?
Milwaukee electric ratchet!
Is it a flush mount? Im assuming not.
The Sony 8100 is a panel display, so it will sit slightly away from the dash.

I just can't see adding this to my 09 rock warrior. No flush mount? I just think it looks cheesy. Doesn't it? Like a wall mounted TV? Maybe I'm wrong. Not a very clean install finished product.
