    *Absolutely love this thing. **Fastly.Cool** and air purifier perfectly this machine We set it up in the low air circulation basement where the dogs hang out (man cave too) and it made a HUGE difference in air quality.*

    I got the UV model. My unit has a 1 1/4 inch gap between the VOC filter and the back of the unit, and most of the air just passes between the end of the filter and the case, rather than actually going through the filter. I can also see a bright blue glow coming from the vents when the UV-C lights are on. I'm returning it and getting the original model without UV.

    Martin, thanks for this excellent review of the EnviroKlenz Air Purifier. The salesman was helpful and gave me a 5% discount.

    Probably easy enough to add a bit of extra sound dampening to the side panels to drop noise even further, or at least raise it off the floor some more, and place some clean artificial turf, which will look odd, but it will damp noise, and is reasonably non dust generating, right under the unit. Most of the noise probably comes from sharp edges and the fan, reflecting off the concrete, so extra attenuation of this surface will likely help.
    That polished concrete does look nice though, and definitely is also contributing to the low particle counts, so long as the floor is regularly wiped down with a damp mop, and then occasionally given a refresh coat of polymer polish after a wash down with stripper. Socks show the floor is very clean.

    Are the filters still fine after sucking in the "smoke"? Smoke machines usually create droplets of glycerin, which covers everything with a sticky layer over time.

    Thank you Martin for this great long term test (we neeeeeed mooooore long term tests). I just love industrial designs (repairability, idiot proof design, long lasting). Nobody is testing long term products ( washing machines, fridges... soo we would know which manufacturers to avoid (Samsung LG....) and if its even feasible to repair.
    Size of those filters are standardized? Would be possible use filters from different manufacturers?

      As far as washing machines are concerned don't get anything other than a Speed Queen they are work horses and the motors come with a twenty year warranty.
      I have a Speed Queens washer and dryer and they are still working great , and they are made in the U.S.A.

    I’m in HVAC I build my own. Basically exactly same but little bigger more industrial built in a IKEA upright closet cabinet. Used more sounding it super quiet adjustable 150 CFM to 1200 CFM. Nobody knows it’s there because it matches other furniture.
    But you need to provide positive pressure filter air into you cabin 24/7/365 like a PANASONIC bathroom fan 50 CFM. So your cabin is always pushing out clean air nor sucking in dusty air from outside.

      Ventura IT do you have central ducted heating or air con ?. You can feed filter outside air into your air handler this will positive the whole house each room. Carpets got to go. No shoes in the house. Have to use hepa vacuum cleaner not old style bag type. Fire place gets plugged. Or like my house sealed fire place put small wood pellet stove vent out through fire place. If possible feed pellet stove out side air for combustion not inside house air. That’s a starting point. Oh yea go crazy sealing the bottom floor first because of the house flue affect. Then slowly work your way up to the top floor ceiling. My house 1927 was was retrofit. Build my dads house new design 4800 square feet three floors pellet stove.

      Ventura IT sounds like mother nature is your natural ventilation. And the Beverly hillbillies and Ma and Pa kettle are your neighbors. If you don’t want to fix the HVAC and you don’t wanna supply filter air. I think for free opening up your windows and let the Santa Anna winds blow through are the best thing you can do.

    • @coldfinger459sub0
      @coldfinger459sub0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ventura IT yes you would have to plug the chimney I got creative with just cutting out a piece of sheet rock and made simple papier-mâché like we did in grammar school with newspaper and glue little water made a paste to seal up the corners where I stuck the sheet rock up inside the chimney airtight seal. One of those romper room bounce around balls we use that as a kid as a balloon that does sound interesting but the four corners would still have to be sealed the balloon would not perfectly conform. If the HVAC fixing job is out of the question right now hey small fan don’t know if you have a crawlspace under your house. Call Air through maybe a adjustable fan a three speed fan kind a like those canna fans. One or two large 20“ x 30“ or anything close to that by 5 inch deep pleated Merv 16 filter. Two filters side-by-side in parallel not stacked would be better the more surface area the better. Feed that into your house. And if you have no test equipment to test positive or negative like a manometer Close up all your windows and doors turn the fan on low to start your first test and after a few minutes of pressurizing the house go around outside your house of the windows and doors and look for some air leakage pushing against either cigarette smoke or a stick of incense something that produces a light smoke. And turn your fan on the lowest setting to where you just start to see the smoke barely move from a leak in a door or window seal somewhere where you know there’s an actual leak. The less pressure possible more is not better. Unless you’re broken air conditioning is not going to get fixed and you’re using windows how’s your air-conditioning. If you’re using mother nature as your air-conditioning and you need that much airflow now you’re talking a whole different ball of wax. Now you’re thinking of something on the order in size of a whole house like one of those attic fans that normally installed and draw the house negative vacuum which is a bad thing. But you would reverse it and add filters in front of the airflow. Because now it sounds like you’re trying to use a large volume of air to actually cool your house but have the necessity of filtering it. And filtering that much outside air when you’re starting to talk 500 or 1000 CFM or 2000 CFM or more. The surface area of your filters would have to be extremely large something in the order in magnitude of 5‘ x 5‘ across. Because pulling in constant outside air would clog filters really fast. Specially if you wanted to have clean air the higher the Merv rating of the filter the faster it will clog. The smaller the filter in the area the faster it will clog. The thinner that filter the faster it will clog. Looks like you got a subscribe to the TH-cam channel( home performance) go back to when he started making videos and binge watch for the next several months before you make a decision get a little education. Then make your decision

    This test should be done in a house. Air will move differently in the house rather a tent. Fill a house with smoke then run the machine

      @NiHaoMike64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shouldn't be too difficult to DIY one. Easy way would probably be to salvage the fan from a window A/C and build a frame to mate the filters to it.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NiHaoMike64 Even a box fan with a furnace filter taped on it can do some good air cleaning. You can get a lot of different styles and filtration levels of furnace filer but there is no UV which does not matter if you change the filter every 3 months as your supposed to. I built a pine box that holds a 24"x20"x5" filter and has a 20" box fan with 2500 cfm. a bigger and more finished wood version of this th-cam.com/video/K9bIWINK8hI/w-d-xo.html Would be a good experiment for mjlorton to build and compare to his expensive one since its so simple to make.

    It's come to the point that all of these type of units are pretty much all the same and the best ones on the market by far for the money are actually under $200 that can actually do just as good as this unit.
    CFM on this unit if you look at the specs is only around 250 means it's no different then a couple of units like the WINIX 5500-2 which would be the best choice for the money at only $159.00 and the COWAY 1512hh at 177.00 yep there's only so much filtration you can do when you go bigger.. You're better off buying smaller ones and doubling up..
    But both of those can clean just as good as that one that you have right there that costs around $700.00
    Again the CFM on that unit I think is about 250 which is no different than the units I just mentioned. Their filters are also just as good, they have automatic sensors and everything like that..
    You don't have to pay a lot to get great filtration anymore in the household..
    ;)

      You don't understand anything about air purifier. Winix 5500 or the coway mighty don't even have 1/20 of the performance of Enviroklenz at VOC removal. If VOC elimination is not needed though (only particle), then yes you should buy a winix, but don't expect any VOC performance.

      @@alexone7516 YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.
      I ACTUALLY HAVE MONITORS IN MY HOUSE OF BEFORE AND AFTER INCLUDING VOCS!!
      IT MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND CLEARED EVERYTHING OUT
      AND I PUT VOCS IN THE AIR AHEAD OF TIME!! TOOK THEM RIGHT OUT ASAP..
      SO PLEASE STOP CREATING NEW TYPES OF DUMB!! YOU CAN'T MESS WITH TRUTH AND DATA FROM A REAL MONITOR THAT TELLS YOU WHAT SOMETHING CLEARS OUT.
      NOT TO MENTION THE WINX 5500 CAN CLEAR A 360 FT² ROOM 4 TIMES PER HOUR FOR EVERYTHING IT SAYS IT DOES..
      OBVIOUSLY 720 FT² TWO TIMES PER HOUR.
      AND ABOUT 1400 FT² ONE TIME PER HOUR
      THEY RECOMMEND IF YOU'RE AN ASTHMA SUFFERER YOU NEED SOMETHING 4 TIMES PER HOUR.
      LIKE I SAID I HAVE A MONITOR THAT MONITORS ALL THE PARTICLES IN THE AIR AND VOCS AND TESTED IT IN A 1200 FT² HOUSE AND IT KEEPS EVERYTHING TO A MINIMUM.. DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB!!
      YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH REAL STATISTICS AND DATA. MY AIR PARTICLE MONITOR COST $600!!
      BYE BYE NOW PLEASE MOVE ON WITH YOUR RIDICULOUSNESS!!
