I think captain marvels helmet serves the same purpose as Optimus primes battle mask, it’s just there to look cool
Carol not having her Miss Marvel suit is such a wasted potential, if they were afraid to sexualize her then they could've used her suit design from Earth's Mightiest Heroes which was a blend of her original and more iconic black suit.
All the characters can wear swimsuits in this game, so I don't see how the Miss Marvel costume would be an issue. Maybe they were saving it for a future DLC that never ended up happening.

Strange was absolutely an avenger in the comics. During the civil war and dark reign, the Sanctum Sanctorum was the Secret Avengers base, and after the dark reign he was a prominent member of the New Avengers under Luke Cage.

I know Captain Marvel's helmet was the result of a bet of some kind when they were first making the design. XD
But in-universe, it serves a couple porpuses, it's supposed to resemble a flight suit helmet (cuz she used to be a pilot), to protect her eyes while flying, and signify whenever she goes Binary as Captain Marvel (Edit: Her hair lights on fire when she's Binary, which is why her Mohawk is on fire most times she has the helmet on.)

I already don't think original suits should be a priority in superhero games, but they should DEFINITELY not be a thing if every hero only has 4 suit slots. Like how you gonna give them so few suits and have some heroes not get anything directly from comics?

I like to imagine that the iron knights design is a fusion of moon knight and Iron man, that alone makes it enjoyable to use it
I know it’s supposed to be a fusion between moon knight and iron man but the base costume looks like something straight of the crusades goddamn
9:24 Strange’s logo is kind of two fold, when Steve Ditko originally drew it to be essentially a stick figure of a demon (it had eyes and horns)
But, it also paid visual homage to the Greek letter psi which is connected to the mind and soul (which is where we get the words psychic and psychology)
To inform you on the Binary form: You know how Rogue stole Carol’s powers in the 80s? Well, after that Carol got experimented on and got a new power set, and she decided to become Binary. Then because status quo she got reverted later which restored her old powers but also left her with some Binary powers (aka all the energy stuff), and if she absorbs enough power then she can get her full Binary powers back for a bit.
Opening with Sonic the Fighters music, well that's a fast way to my heart.

Not bulky enough to actually simulate a Paladin imo. But, personally, i never really understood the concept of a "medieval" Iron Man. Like, how does that work?

I'm still so glad you're covering this game, it's probably my fav interpretation of these characters in a video game (which isn't a high bar, but still) and even if I honestly like a lot of the alt suits that you don't, it's just SO cool seeing someone talk about this game for once

I go medieval for all of the squad because I like the idea that The Hunter picked the outfits and its what he thinks is "Armoured and Suitable"

The Ms. Marvel mod works with the Epic store version, I've been using it along with a long hair mod and it's amazing how much a good hair style does to the whole look and her alts.
Just wanted to say your videos convinced me to pick up the game, so you must be doing something right. Really is the spiritual successor to Ultimate Alliance we’ve all wanted. Such a shame it flew under the radar.
Some opinions of my own as I’ve watched the video:
I don’t mind the techy look of Cap’s Future Soldier suit. And I like how the added armor plating changes his whole physique and presence to be a lot more intimidating. I’d love it except for one thing. The lights. If only it weren’t for the big stupid glowing stars I’d love it. But alas, I hate it.
As for Captain Marvel, I don’t mind her short hair as much as most. I’ve always hated the look the Midnight Suns suit goes for though with the silly flaming mohawk. The Medieval suit though? I couldn’t disagree with you more honestly. I don’t think it looks like medieval armor at all, it just looks like armor period, but I’m fine with that. As you say, just a bit basic. What I like though is how the helmet/mask combined with the short hair actually pulls off the look the flaming mohawk totally fails at. Way cooler than the default suit in my opinion.
Strange’s suits mostly rock. Guess I’m biased, he’s my favorite superhero. But they nailed it with him. Love the Defenders suit. It’s not accurate to the comics but I love it as a sorta hybrid between that look and his usual. Hate his Midnight Suns suit though, screw that, but honestly I hate most of the Midnight Suns suits. I expect I’ll have nightmares about Spider-Man’s.
Hulk’s suits are mostly ass. Except funny enough his Midnight Suns look which is garbage on almost everyone else. Like you said, gives me more Planet Hulk vibes than anything else but I’m absolutely fine with that. Maestro suit looks too busy for me. Other than that, Hulk is simple, he wears purple shorts. And that’s what I have him wear.
Iron Man’s suits are great. Unsurprising, it’s easy to do Iron Man. Any recolor at all works, because he has a bajillion suits in storage. So all I’ll say is that he makes me laugh a little in this game, because when I first saw him the first thing I said is “Oh heck yeah, his arc reactor isn’t just the tired old MCU circle, we got a triangle!” and then I ended up running the clearly very movie-inspired Bleeding Edge suit anyway. lol
Strange’s midnight suns suit is more like a Master Assassin Strange suit lol
The Avengers Battle for Earth design for the bleeding edge is pretty accurate, albeit the helmet is fairly MCUish.

Wish that abilities would have changed color to match skins. Hulk's ult could have been a green gamma fire if used on any green skins. Maybe even a blue fire for the one blue skin.
And the biggest offender is the white Anti Venom skin using the black sludge effect. Overall quite the unfortunate oversight to not color match anything with skins.

I like that version of Maestro i think it's based on his 1997 action figure "with fallen hero armor" where he has a bunch of artifacts from his trophy room from the comics with him.
Really cool version of the character IMO a despotic evil Hulk. i like him collecting trophies from dead heroes and villains and just using them himself. Future Imperfect was such a cool story...
and Professor Hulk fighting Maestro in the trophy room and they're throwing and using the weapons and shit at each other was so cool.
Strange's defender outfit with the mystic drip recolor reminds me of Spawn a bit
What pushes the Classic Doctor Strange costume just a bit over the standard in this game is the large yellow section on his lower part of the tunic. He already has a good splash of golds on his torso and it stops with the large belt, and whike it does continue down as trim along the blue, it's just that, a small trmming that doesn't draw my eyes off the blue. The yellow peice just adds a bight color to an area which doesn't need it in my opinion. The classic suit fixes that issue by making that section the same blue as the tunic, making it flow together much better.
Midnight Suns was such an underrated game! I do wish the costumes were a bit stronger though lol

3:39 I remember years ago on the facebook game Avengers alliance, there was a medieval cap as a separate character, not an alt. The desing was really cool and even had a reference to dark souls on his moveset. Really wished they reused that desing instead
I think the only time the short hair has looked good on Carol is probably in Endgame. It looked interesting, complimented the actress' face, and just didn't look awful like it does in this game.
Really looking forward to the 7 hour-long review of the Donut scene.
Can't wait to see the ranking of all the X-Men Character costumes. I personally think for the DLC costumes. I think in terms of the Midnight Suns team suit, Deadpool has the most unique one

It’s insane to me that a Midnight Sons video game happened, Captain America got dropped into it, and Capwolf wasn’t one of the four Captain America costumes in the game. The Capwolf story was even going on in the comics at the same time the Midnight Suns stuff was starting in the ‘90s.
Captain Marvel’s Mar-Vell suit is weird, because visually, it looks like it’s actually more of a reference to the version of her original Ms. Marvel costume you see in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In that cartoon they gave her original costume, which looks similar to the original Captain Marvel’s red costume, the thigh high boots of her all black Ms. Marvel costume. But here they’ve completely ruined it.
Doctor Strange not having some take on his 1990s Midnight Sons comic seems like an odd oversight. Especially since an alt color could easily make it look like his all blue super hero costume.
Given the horror nature of Midnight Sons and the Midnight Suns comic stuff it’s based on, I do find it odd they put Iron Man in but didn’t play up the bio-armor aspect of some of his suits. Hulk is similar to this too, it’s cool they used his Frankenstein forehead, (that was a smart choice) but given what the game is it seems like Devil Hulk and Hulk 2099 would’ve fit in pretty perfectly as alt costumes compared to what the game went with.

I never quite understand why so many marvel games just recolor suits and sell them as a different suit. I think spiderman 2 did it best allowing us to recolor the suits ourselves

I hate the default Iron Man helmet personally, it falls into the same too sleek pitfall that is seen in his designs from time to time. Every time I see it I find myself asking "where's his nose?" Cause that face plate would be slicing it off with how flush against his face it is.

Hulk is easily the best design. They could have easily gone for the easy option of making a big green man, but they went above and beyond and gave us a perfect rendition of Jack Kirby's Boris Karloff Frankenstein's Monster inspired design look is awesome.
I think the short hair on captain marvel matters on the face in some books when she has it her face is either a little round in some areas or she has a perfect musclar but pretty jaw line and face to go with the short hair here it likes trumps hair on her and they didn’t do good on the hair and to the helmet thing I don’t know either but the helmet is dope so 🤷♂️
