I have a 2018 Touring. Had since new and have put 56,000 miles on in two years. Mostly back and forth between homes in FL and NJ. Plenty of power, runs at 75 all day long and averages between 32 and 35 mpg. Excellent comfort, ride, and carrying capacity. This is our fourth Honda over the years and they just keep improving. Have run them well over 200,000 miles with minimal issues.

My 2017 EX-L sometimes gets up to 40 mph at between 60-65 mph. It is very impressive how Honda made the 1.5 liter turbo so powerful , efficient, smooth, and quiet. Upscale interior and handles like a breeze. Best all-around vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Powerful 1.5L ????. You need to read my other post further up. The 1.5L is gutless. I know this video was made in America but over here in Australia there are thousands of 2017 -2022 CR-V's for sale simply because of the low powered engine. You can not buy a 2nd hand 2014 - 2016 CR-V because everyone is going back to the earlier models with the far better and more powerful 2.4L engine. Honda's biggest mistake was putting the 1.5L engine into the CR-V

Great review guys. We bought a 2020 CR-V Sport up here in Canada last week and love it so far. We bought it because of 1) value 2) functionality 3) made in Ontario and 4) our two 65 lb dogs fit safely and comfortably in the cargo area behind the back seat! It's so deep their heads can barely be seen over the back seats.

I love my 2019 Honda CRV EXL. This is my 3rd CRV and 12th Honda. I’ve learned to live with the current infotainment system and love the sound quality of the stereo. • @raygowan1968
    @raygowan1968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I have the 2020 touring and have 3 pet peeves
    1) Road departure - The system can’t tell the difference between running off the road and an entrance ramp or road work. I had to turn mine off completely .
    2) Engine idle stop. I live in South Carolina where it is near 100 degrees in the summer and I just can’t have my AC cutting off at every stop light. The off switch only leaves it off for the 1 trip. If you stop for gas, it defaults right back to on.
    3) Collision mitigation - I had to put mine down on the lowest setting.
On the plus side, I am averaging about 33mpg. Car is comfortable, roomy, smooth ride, and smooth drive.
    Overall a very good car.

I bought a 2020 and we love it. As far as some of your dislikes: Econ or no Econ. The car definitely has more power with it off. I pulled a pretty good grade and the car never down shifted at 65mph. Small display, I like it integrated in the dash. the rav4’s is bigger but it sticks out like a drive-in movie screen. If you press the button on the shifter to get out of park then let it go once you are out of park, it will only allow you to slide down to Drive and not onto Sport or Low. You have to keep the button pressed to get to S or L.

A little trick about shifting into drive. You have to initially hold the side button in to get it out of park but then let go of the side button and just pull the gear shift back and it should automatically stop at drive. If you continually hold the side button it will slide all the way to low.

that's a great tip for sure, but I kinda agree with the reviewer that if you have to know a "trick" to get something to behave as expected then it's not a great user experience. A completely ignorant, non car person should instinctively be able to do what they expect to do by default, and power users should be the ones to have to know tricks to get what they want out of a system

Hello! I upgraded my 2018 CR V Exl to 2020 Touring here in Canada, Up here you can get heated rear seats, panoramic moon roof and 5 bulb LED fog lights. It’s strange that in US you can’t get these features. I would agree that screen is a little small but I love the in built navigation and bigger wheels on 2020 Touring. Excellent job guys! Probably one of the most honest and non-biased CRV reviews I’ve seen in awhile. The CRV is definitely a great contender, but I agree, it’s really starting to fall behind in terms of features and technology. I actually crossed shopped the CRV with the new Hyundai Santa Fe, and I chose the fully loaded Santa Fe, because it was only around $2k more than the fully loaded CRV, and included all of the features that CRV was missing, PLUS some, plus it’s a whole class above the CRV. Couldn’t beat the value. And that’s the problem with Honda. Their value isn’t as good as it used to be, compared to their competitors who offer more features.

Nice review but: A. We are not in a great hurry so the infotainment systems works fine for us. B. If you read the manual, you will see how to select the gears. Hold the button only long enough to take it off park. You then can select Reverse, Neutral and Drive. If you want to select Sport or Low, you have to depress the button once more. Shown very clearly in the manual. Nit picky I know but accurate. Aside from those two issues, your review was quite good. One more thing. Yes, it's a bit slow, but what's the hurry??

We recently purchased the 2020 CR-V LX Fwd. Only 700 miles. The vehicle is slow(not for me)..because it weighs 4675 lbs.,pushed by a 1.5L turbo. The shifter is fine, but takes some getting use to. The computer system for climate, etc.,is slow and irritating having to go from one thing to another. I've pulled over a couple of times to change things, so as not to get in a wreck. Fit and finish is on par with much higher priced vehicles. Seating is very comfortable, and lots of room inside. Individual heater/ac controls on driver side and passenger side, with power seat on driver side as well. We paid $28,500.00 for ours, we're in Oklahoma. If you like to travel, by all means get the touring model...Great car for the money....

People, FAR, FAR over do the complaining about the OIL dilution problem
Was there there a problem, YES--- was it as BIG as people want you to believe---- NOT REMOTELY-- it was SO SMALL in comparison to the TOTAL number of CRV's sold!!
I really don't know if HONDA offered to fix this problem, but, I DO KNOW--- there have BEEN -- ZERO oil dilution problems with my CRV and when I researched this issue, it seemed like the problem was ONLY a SPECIFIC group sold -- Honda KNOWS specific time frames that ALL their cars come off the line and it seemed like there was a time frame and those cars mostly were DELIVERED ( NOT SOLD) in to the state - of Washington- then were distributed to dealerships! THAT -- NUMBER was VERY SMALL-- in the LOW hundreds!

I'm surprised about any complains with the power. I have the 2017 and I think it's the same 1.5 Turbo and it has really good pull. Best pull out of the CX-5 and Rav4 I tried back then; and I like to drive assertively and quickly. I had no issue with the oil or climate controls. Infotainment is so-so agreed and my shifter button broke at one point so agreed there too.
I also found out the mats and floor carpeting on the drivers side were very low quality and got a hole in both just a year into use.

I do like the styling updates they've made. I've owned my CRV since 2017 and agree with most of your points. It is very unfortunate that they didn't replace the laggy head unit with the nice one from the Accord, but using car play or Andorid auto fixes most of that. It's not really slow against others with similar room and mpg rating. Turbo lag and the CVT does make it feel slow, yet it gets to 60mpg faster than most in it's class/price. That is a cool color. I chose a silver one for the exact reason that it hides dirt and scratches very well. Inevitably, every YT video about CRVs will have exaggerated oil dilution claims, but I and the vast majority of actual owners have had no issues.

Love our US 2020 CR-V EX-L AWD, but...
The Auto Idle Stop is horrible [first thing we always turn off when starting].
The sliding center console lid slides too easily if your elbow pushes back on it.
Steering wheel doesn't tilt down far enough.
The Lane Keep Assist is nice, but the Adaptive Cruise Control brakes too sharply and slows too long when the car in front turns off - very jerky!
No Nat Asp engine option, no gas struts for the hood lift and a really difficult-to-read oil dipstick plastic end [just leave it plain steel]. Way too quiet an auto-lock beep when walking away.
Lots of nice features for the money - two driver auto seat adjustment and vehicle settings, auto headlights and windshield wiper, remote start, heated, comfortable front seats and heated mirrors, cavernous trunk, tons of legroom for all [I'm 6ft 2in and can sit behind my adjusted seat with lots of head and legroom], quiet interior, 32mpg in Econ mode, yet plenty of oomph in Sport mode.

Just bought my Sonic Grey in May and coming from a 2017 Civic Turbo, I feel the slowness of the CR-V. Enjoying everything except: elbow rest slides back/forth too loosely; leather seats have tiny holes that allow spills through; slower acceleration.

The HOLES are so the leather and inside materials can BREATH!
The SLOW -- is ONLY the start-- it IS due to the CVT transmission -- it is slower ONLY( YES --- ONLY) , there is a certain noise at the DEAD start( at a red light) that is a LITTLE slower, this IS DUE to the CVT-- type of transmission! Just KNOW the CVT transmission is different from your typical transmission( FROM TOTAL -- Red light type STARTS)!
The acceleration of this this car when NORMAL driving(30mpg AND HIGHER) -- is just as good and JUST AS FAST as a regular transmission!
I owned other regular transmission cars for YEARS and the beginning ACCELERATION of the CRV - has what mechanics call a "GROWL" so the sound is different than what you are used to --- ONLY at the beginning!!!
I do own the new CRV-- my first CRV EVER-- my first CVT transmission --ever!
This cars value for the money, space, ride, over all quality is TOTALLY superior to even many MID size SUV's!
The technology conveniences are equal and better than ALL other cars in its class! the Fantastic gas mileage speaks for itself!
Just know what you feel in the START of slow acceleration is NOT a BAD engineering flaw( it is the CVT), this car flies as fast as you want( but should NOT) when on the road!

I am not an aggressive, or fast driver, so, even driving with the econ feature, I get plenty of get up and go. I test drove the Toyota, Mazda, Ford, and a few other competitors, and found this to be the " best fit for me ". My gas mileage is better than yours, for sure.....I am a retired audio consultant ( spending peoples money on sound reproduction equipment, for satisfaction of their musical listening enjoyment at home ). Not every system ( speakers specifically ), are the same for everyone. Mind you, much of this equipment I speak about, will be many times the cost of these vehicles. Each person has a " taste " or a " preference " for what they like, many, different from my own. So giving a " bad " or a " negative ", is truly unfair, imo. The important job of a purchaser, would be to test drive a vehicle, comparing it to others, and maybe, test driving it, on two or three different occasions, before making a decision. We do not have the luxury of using a vehicle for a week at a time. Anyway, keep up the good work, and stay safe out there. Always, Dan

Not sure if this is related we have a 2019 CRV. The USB connections in the lower console are positioned in a way that it is difficult to attach the wire. I find more times than not actually opening the arm and sometimes actually getting right in there to plug the cable in. Not a huge deal but annoying if already driving and your phone needs to charge or if the Android Auto app in my case either disconnects or didn't connect right when starting. The other thing is a lack of power. It could be because of the style of shifting it does because you never really feel it is not getting up to speed but it feels like it is one gear too low for its progress. In other words yes it gets to speed but feels like it is in the wrong gear as it goes. If it was a standard I would downshift and let the engine rev up a bit more to feel like you are in its sweet spot before shifting.
