- I met Thomas Winkler aka Angus McSix back when he was a fife at Bloodstock. We always wanted to have this chat, but he lost his hammer and was wandering the universe for some time. That was, until he found a sword, and once the goblin slaying began, we just had to schedule a chat, including checking out his new single!

Apart from being just incredible vocalist, Thomas has managed to gather an actual supergroup with Manuel Lotter from Rhapsody Of Fire on drums, Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann who is also leading great power metal group Orden Ogan and last but not least amazing Thalìa Bellazecca, who is doing honours shredding late Alexi Laiho (CoB) signature model.
He's also a really chill guy. Got to chat with him for a bit after his last Gloryhammer show in Toronto. Just a great dude all around
The alexi signatures mostly had just a bridge pickup, and the latest one was an HS, so i don’t think this one is his model cuz it’s HH

Discovering Winkler’s old band and new band in the same day today, back to back, and reading all the drama that’s happened to Winkler as well, I can’t help, but instantly fall in love with this new band of his, and I’m excited to see where it goes, especially with him calling back to his older project in such an obvious, yet subtle way

Funny. I just came back from the first day of a three day metal festival in the Netherlands, featuring Blackbriar with special guest Charlotte Wessels, Warkings, Dragonforce and Angus McSix. Angus even joined Dragonforce in full armor for their final song Through the Fire and Flames. Great show!
That must have been amazing, particularly since he auditioned for Dragonforce years ago and didn't get the job. I guess now they know how good he is

When I first heard this song all I could think was it radiated a feeling of "Triumphant Spite", especially since he's referencing his time as a Fife, but coming back 'one better'. Hilarious and glorious all the same 😂

If this is what I think it is, that's Thalia Bellazecca, formerly of Frozen Crown on lead guitar. It's great that she got picked up by an equally viral project. Even though Frozen Crown is still a fantastic band without her. IMO they released their best album yet, Call of the North this year. One of their videos would be a great reaction this year, and Giada would be a great Tea Time interview (even though she's more of a coffee lady.

It was great to see Angus McSix and his band throwing an inflatable unicorn rubber boat into the audience. An audience member hopped in and if he could make it to the stage surfing the crowd in the unicorn he could pour beer down the throat of the African Queen. Alas, he did not succeed.

I love how he fully embraces the cheesiness of his music. It's just so fun! If you're looking for more power metal awesomeness, I highly recommend Lovebites! The level of musicianship in this all-female band is absolutely amazing, and their vocalist is fantastic! Their live video of their song "Holy War" is a great place to start. It's a perfect example of the kind of music they play, and their vocalist, Asami, really shines throughout.
Is it just me or are all those all-female metal bands absolutely owning the metal scene at the moment? Lovebites, Aldious, Band-maid, Hanabi, Nemophila, the list just goes on and on...
It makes me so happy that something like Lovebites exists.
Agree with Lovebites but EVERY reactor does Holy Wat (overplayed) Start with Swan Song w/Chopin intro Live. Elizabeth will love the piano intro.

You mentioned wanting to see more female guitarists, so here's a couple to check out:
1. Orianthi, played for Alice Cooper for a while, then went off on her own and has put out some AWESOME very bluesy rock & roll music. She both plays and sings, and would be great to check out here.
2. Nita Strauss, another Alice Cooper alum, who plays with him currently. However she also has a solo project and just released a new single from an upcoming album, with vocalist Anders Friden (who is outstanding) of the band In Flames. She also released a great track a while back with Alyssa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) on vocals as well. Nita doesn't sing herself, but she's a very impressive guitar player.
3. Gabriela Quintero, of Rodrigo y Gabriela. They are a Mexican acoustic guitar duo and they play some really amazing instrumental music, taking cues from metal, rock, classical, and flamenco and fusing it into something unique. Their music is strictly instrumental, though, so probably not something you could include on the channel. Even so, I wanted to mention her as she's probably the greatest rhythm guitarist I've ever seen. They are well worth checking out on your own time.
I would throw Marissa Paternoster from Screaming Females as something to check out as well.

Your first video i had the pleasure of watching was your reaction to Gloryhammer, so seeing you had a reaction to Angus McSix was *chef's kiss*
If i may be presumptuous, I'd recommend "Key to Eternity" - it's got the cheese, yes, and it is the most Eurovision of songs ever. But it's also one of the most inspiring, I found: it has literally broken me out of a depressive episode, with just the chorus lead-in and chorus itself.
Someone should make a series just to put this song in the intro. Seriously, this music in the 80s would absolutely be on a show. And you as an cyborg unicorn too. The bird as a mount just made me laugh.
As soon as the album dropped one of the first things I thought was I hope you would do a video on it, ha ha.

He-Man reference is quite obvious but the whole song is also some kind of roast on Gloryhammer. Firstly "Glory left his hammer" obvious...
Next we have "but I came right back, one better" which refers to Thomas being Angus McFife in GH, and since Fife sounds like Five, he's now literally "one better" with Six being better than Five(Fife).
And now back to He-Man thing. GH has a song named "Masters of the Galaxy" so again McSix has to be one level higher so he's Master of the Universe 😂

There's a world of difference between a combat-ready forged steel blade and the (mostly aluminum) ones used in most theatrical performances. Sixcalibur would weigh (based on dimensions) 4-7 pounds, versus a stage blade at about 1. So the amount of tension he's putting on his shoulder could be anywhere from negligible to significant. LOVE your ensemble! ❤
Yeah, he's a pretty damn good singer. This is not a bad total band as well. Certainly over the top. But with a voice like that, what else you going to do? Can't say it doesn't rock. First time to come across this band.

As much as I adore Gloryhammer, I love Angus McSix too. I'll be enjoying both.
I'm not any type of music or singing expert, but what I am an expert at is appreciating the sheer amount of spite it takes to write an entire song dedicated to telling off his former band while also successfully launching his new band.
I just saw Angus Mcsix live at Copenhell (2023), I hadn't dived down into THE LORE prior to the concert, but.. I ended up laughing for 45min, it was so fun! It was the band that I didn't know that I needed to play at the time. Jesus.. They even send a guy to fetch beer, while crowdsurfing on an inflatable pegasus. I also love the fact that this song is a dis to Gloryhammer for kicking him out of the band

Some people argue over Gloryhammer vs. Angus McSix. I'm just happy that we not have not just one, but TWO power metal bands with a healthy helping of cheese.

Now that you've reacted to Angus McSix (which is my current favourite band btw) you could also react to Seeb's other band Orden Ogan where he sings. Apart from being a very good guitarist he's also a very good singer and he produces both bands himself. Orden Ogan is also very nice Power Metal and if you heard some of it you'll definitely recognize the influences in Angus McSix.

Just a fantastic reaction. A great blending of technical analysis and schoolgirl giddiness 😊. It is hard not to get excited by this song. I was so excited to know that Angus’ saga was going to continue after the troubles with the former band. Yes, it is a bit cheesy, but it is.
