Nice bike Del, well done. Only issue is that seat, it doesn't suit the lines of the bike at all. It's a minimalist bike with a maximum touring like seat. At least It needs the passenger section cut down at a 45° angle similar to a gunfighter seat. At most it needs to be totally reshaped into something thin so it's not the first thing the eye goes to. It's probably a bike that's not terribly comfortable anyway and you won't be going long distances on so something subtle should work. It's just a thought. At the end of the day it's your bike to do with as you like. Cheers
I have had a Dyna, Sportster and have currently a Road King and a Evo Fatboy but i always miss my good old rigid Sporty even if it coughed oil out the carb onto my knee and melted my trousers. Just something about them!

Any of us who have followed the series knew that passing the inspection was pretty much a slam-dunk. 😁 It appears your UK inspections are much more thorough than ours here in my state in the U.S. (N.Y.) Great to hear from you, and thank you so much for your kind words, it has been a long project, probably a fare bit longer then i planned, and i did go deeper than i initially wanted to.. but there we go, it's done now, and im right proud of the result. I hear quite often that there isn't much to do in the USA in terms of inspections, the bike just needs to be road worthy, i guess they leave it up to the cops on the day.! but we do get it easier here than some contries over in Europe such as Germany and Norway where bikes practically need to be bone stock to conform.. glad we don't have that..! Thanks for your kind words mate, Yes, we have a very busy life, part time job and part time here with this, plus other social commitments on top.. so not much time to ourselves.. but we wouldn't do it if we didn't enjoy it.. TH-cam income is famously poor, not much more than expences at best, but again, we have some very loyal and generous viewers who support is a little through Patreon, so all in all, we make ends meet, can't ask for more then that aye !

Perhaps you didn't catch the exhaust video episodes, i have fitted full length heat shields along the length of both pipes, made from some factory heat shields.. perhaps a little warm to put a bare hand on, but more than enough protection to touch with your boot and not have any issues mate.
Rolling artistry...reminiscent of an Egli Vincent or a Norvin. Fork gaiters as on the sporty iron & many a Brit bike would balance up the look of the front end...time to enjoy your creation.

That’s one good looking machine you have there and we’ll worth the time it’s taken to build. Personally and some would say weirdly I’m not a big fan of loud pipes but that’s a very pleasant slightly muted basso profundo sound you have going on there.

Sportster to ADV is a current popular transformation, quite a few guys in the States doing it, most of them are raggedy and pretty cool, I guess you could base the project around an XR1200, but then as always the factory has already got there first with the Pan America... nothing new under the sun aye?!

Great idea mate... i need a GoPro Media Mod first, then i can make some worthy comments along the way.. it's on the wish list, but like everything there is always a list of other stuff more important..and they're not cheap. Id love to do a few bike reviews like my buddy TMF, maybe with my style of spin on it.. who knows, maybe a new direction for the channel aye..?

How is no mirrors legal? I thought that it would be more strict there what with the MoT and all... You can't ride with out mirrors in West Aust... Fines and all sorts happen if you try.... Very strange....
Not strange mate, just the way the law is, there's no requirement to have them fitted, but if you have one fitted and it's cracked or broken that would be a fail... traffic law evolves over time and usually only gets changed when there are drastic measures for a consistent problem! It seems that our construction and use regulations are pretty slack compared to yours in Oz, which is a little ironic considering you are the home of Mad Max and all things Rat bike!

No legal requirement for mirrors here, I don't make the rules, just the way it is! I hear much about the strict Euro laws and all the restrictions they give you...

Looks like Mot doing a smog emissions test or actually doing it? Never seen anything like that on-wheel spin for a motorcycle. Nothing like that in Colorado. Envy your ride though!!! No
The roller test is for brake efficiency to check they're not binding and they stop within spec. ... we don't have a smog test of any kind, or even a decibel test, so we can at least have some great sounding pipes!
I don't care what any one say's, there is nothing in this world to compare with riding a Harley on a sunny afternoon. God, how I wish I had my Softail on the road. That is one sharp little cafe racer. Lovely job.

Yes! Thank you mate, straight through, the tester said it was probably the simplest test he'd done in thre last month.. not just got to run the new engine in and get it to first service.!
Nice one Del & I have to say, a fine build - nothing dropping on the tester's foot is always a good sign - & riding away with a new 'roadworthy' leaves you with a very good feeling . . . however. As an artistic guru of almost Jedi-like sensibilities, I must say that I'm having thingies about that tiny headlight . . . Headlights should be strong, proud flagbearers, beaming their presence to the very eyes of the oncoming multitude. Ten inch brass jobbies usually do the trick - chrome in this case - they are the bike's true face & give it the character to shame an often indifferent World into total admiration, - at the mo tho', it has a touch of 'guilty Spaniel' about it : )xx

Yes I am Sir.. very proud of the result.. in so many ways it could have been better, but there was only so much in the budget and two years was enough.. in the end you just want to get out in the sunshine and ride it, so you draw a line and call it done. happy i did too.. It pulls hard and strong even though ive not run it in yet.. get to 500 miles, change the oil then i can let it off the lead and play..!

When you're assembling new seals in a brake caliper, yes you can use a silicone based rubber lube, or even just fresh brake fluid works too.!

Saw the bike in Wimborne on Saturday , looked and sounded fantastic, the first time in my life that I’ve seriously lusted after a Harley. It was amusing to see the traditional Harley rider’s jealousy of the attention this bike was getting from passers-by . Well done, I’m subscribing now !

Hi Del! Great looking bike! Really love it. But i wonder if you don´t need mirrors over there? In Germany you wouldn´t pass without mirrors. Is the optics of a bike worth risking your live on a turn without knowing what´s coming from behind? Just my 2 cents...
No legal requirement for mirrors here, I don't make the rules, just the way it is! I hear much about the strict Euro laws and all the restrictions they give you...
Im not a cafe racer guy but that bike is gorgeous well done sir. Sounds better than any other c-racer as well

Looks like Mot doing a smog emissions test or actually doing it? Never seen anything like that on-wheel spin for a motorcycle. Nothing like that in Colorado. Envy your ride though!!! No
The roller test is for brake efficiency to check they're not binding and they stop within spec. ... we don't have a smog test of any kind, or even a decibel test, so we can at least have some great sounding pipes!
Interesting! Colorado has cars for smog. That's bout it. But can't have load pipes near the hospital though. Nice sharing your experience.
Well done. How do you get an MOT with those pipes? Do they not check noise?
Currently no decibel limit, so no aparatus or framework to "check noise", they just need to be 'Not defective' meaning not leaking or hanging off.
I don't care what any one say's, there is nothing in this world to compare with riding a Harley on a sunny afternoon. God, how I wish I had my Softail on the road. That is one sharp little cafe racer. Lovely job.

Nice work Del. The roads look as bad as Australian roads, guessing all the UK fuel and road tax doesn't go where it is supposed to, just like over here.
You got that right mate, it's hilarious when the authorities take a view that the bike has to be fit for the road, but they never seem to take responsibility to keep the roads fit for my bike lol

What a fantastic job you've done! However, I could not stop looking at the brass infill piece you've got on your bars, with the circles on. That would do my head in as the circles are not centered. 🤪

In the centre of that chrome, I keep thinking why do you have an end of a 2x4 on the dash.
Perhaps I should change it for a 'Live to Ride' sticker with a nice Eagle lol
It's a brass plate that Del machined the lines on using his lathe, the colour of the plate matches the home made brass bar end weights.
Finally a ride! Perfect weather, perfect music to compliment it. Runs like it has never had a rest. I do love these twisty country lanes. And then MOT. Passed, of course. We had expected that. Great work, your Harley is a piece of art. And I'm usually not too excited about Milwaukee iron ;-) Many wonderful miles, mate. Günter/Nürnberg

Nice one Del & I have to say, a fine build - nothing dropping on the tester's foot is always a good sign - & riding away with a new 'roadworthy' leaves you with a very good feeling . . . however.
As an artistic guru of almost Jedi-like sensibilities, I must say that I'm having thingies about that tiny headlight . . .
Headlights should be strong, proud flagbearers, beaming their presence to the very eyes of the oncoming multitude.
Ten inch brass jobbies usually do the trick - chrome in this case - they are the bike's true face & give it the character to shame an often indifferent World into total admiration, - at the mo tho', it has a touch of 'guilty Spaniel' about it : )xx

Yes I am Sir.. very proud of the result.. in so many ways it could have been better, but there was only so much in the budget and two years was enough.. in the end you just want to get out in the sunshine and ride it, so you draw a line and call it done. happy i did too.. It pulls hard and strong even though ive not run it in yet.. get to 500 miles, change the oil then i can let it off the lead and play..!
