I'm not a fan of the 109's shapes. Nose is too big, tail is too small, elevators are too high, the landing gear looks to delicate, the windshield is too vertical. The only thing 109's do that I prefer over other planes are the wing radiators.

Those RR V12's (Allisons also) are still popular in the tractor pulling scene.. when a puller with one or two of these engines 'take off'... The ground actually shakes. And you really appreciate hearing protection..😀

Awesome hearing a real MB inverted V12. I consider the merlin powered 109 a fakershmit. Spitfire had the advantage of getting the best Rolls Royce engines. Mustang only had 2 versions of Packerard build merlins. If P 51 had the griffon it would have gone 500 mph+ .
Fakersmit thazs a good one it just loocks so wrong Fun fact: the Spanis did a bunch of these engine convertions after the war as they still had a big fleet but germanys factorys were shut down so they buyed a bunch of merlins and squeezed them in there. Result is an prety ugly Fakersmit :P
Turn up the volume and enjoy!... But you shut the video down before the prop stops. Thats where the most interesting sounds are and it is not complete until the prop is still. That nice rattle of the R 2800. Oh well. Nothings perfect.

Its such a shame that no airworthy Yak nowadays still have their original Klimov M-105 engine. I saw a video of a genuine restored M-105PF run test like 10 years ago. Apparantly it was never mounted on any Yak to test it in flight since I've never heard of it again. Too bad. I'd also love to see a Dora take off with its original Jumo 213 beast of an engine.
+Simon Le Merveilleux Delisle There is a Yak 1 project for sale with an overhauled and tested M-105 engine. It is probably the same engine, and I'm surprised that the project is still for sale after all of this time. A Jumo 213 will be tested this year for a Dora project but there is no time frame for when the Dora will be complete.

Milou plop True, all variants of Sea Fury originally had the Bristol Centaurus engine. However, there were far fewer Centaurus engines manufactured in the war compared to the quantities of P&W R28000s, so my guess is this particular Sea Fury has been re-engined with a R2800 at some point later in life due to lack of replacement Centaurus engines. The R2800 is actually slightly smaller in diameter than the Centaurus (1342mm vs 1404mm respectively) - quite an achievement considering the R2800 had overhead valves compared to the Centaurus’ sleeve valve head - so would fit in the airframe easily.
PaddyPatrone They could still display it if they insisted for historical reasons. I don't need it though. I'm a fan of german engineering, thus the political symbols that came with it are completely unecessary.

I don't think that was a supercharger. That was a siren the Germans used on the airplane for psychological warfare which it emulated a scary sound.

A BF 109 with an electric starter, when did they come so equipped?
It's actually a inertia starter, all were equipt but the standard was a hand crank starter. The battery was only used for emergency starts.

@@jasonharris630 The plane would fly without any paint on it. The fact that it`s airworthy is the most important for me. Sure there is historical correctness, but i can live with how it looks now. It`s just 3 drops of paint.
