A-ha’s lead singer is Morten Harket, he’s 63 now but still has the voice. In the US a-ha is known only for this song, but in most other countries (especially in Europe) they were massive and put out great albums until they broke up a few years ago.

"The Sun Always Shines on TV" made it to #20 here in the US as well, so they weren't *technically* a one-hit wonder here -- but yeah, for some reason, no one seems to remember that song very much nowadays. I don't think Warner Bros. did a very good job of promoting them in the US, especially after their first album; a couple of the songs off of "Scoundrel Days" got some airplay, but I think they were pretty much invisible in the US after that, at least as far as radio play was concerned. :-(

There's a version on TH-cam where it was done as an unplugged version and as much as I like the original the unplugged version is spellbinding. One of the things that I like about it is that you catch closeups of the audience and they are mostly women. As I watch the video, I just think that the women who are softly singing along are thinking back to when they originally heard the song and reminiscing about those times when they were young. it's just a stunningly beautiful performance from the group, Morten of course will take the plaudits, but the other members of the group give such a restrained performance too. To hear the stripped back performance just adds so many more layers to the song and gives it a haunting melancholy sound.

You need to react to the acoustic version of this song. That version guts me every time I hear it, same melody and words but when the tempo goes down you really get an understanding of what they are singing. There is a slightly different fast version from the year before this version was released in 1985. Apparently the 1984 version never took off or charted. I have included links to both of the versions I mentioned.

Thankyou for reacting to AHA it means a lot. I’m from Scotland, UK and i’ve been an AHA fan since the take on me days in 1985. I was 16 then and i’m 53 now and still love AHA. AHA are criminally unappreciated and underrated and have a huge back catalogue of music. No two songs sound the same. Take on me is just the tip of a very large musical experience. AHA are still around today in 2022 they released their new album true north. The boys are all in their 60’s now but still rocking. Take on me always ends an AHA concert. For more AHA live i suggest hunting high and low or the living daylights especially from the ending on a high note concert loads of audience participation with those songs also i suggest reacting to AHA’S Summer Moved On they are in the guinness book of records for the longest note held in a live performance 20.2 seconds. and finally take on me unplugged because it sounds like a completely different song and will blow you away. I hope you will react to more AHA. Thanks again and take care 😘❤️🇳🇴❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸 AHA FOREVER ❤️🇳🇴❤️

I listened to Pink Floyd, Rush, mostly the classic rock or heavy rock stuff. I highly suggest you check out their slower ballad version that was featured in Deadpool 2. I know you're a fan of MCU movies, so if you haven't seen that please do yourself a favor and check it out. It is the same song and lyrics but with a totally opposite vibe. I feel that if they were to re-release their slow version they'd have a chart topper all over again. Peace.

You'll notice he puts a hand on his left ear when he's trying to hit those difficult notes. It's a little trick vocalists can use when they can't hear themselves in the audio setup. If you plug one ear, you can hear your own voice very loudly in that ear while still being able to hear the room with the other ear.

They did a live version in 2017 which was an awesome performance. He doesn't hit the super high notes as that sort of energy wouldn't fit with that, but I have seen other live performances since and he CAN hit them.
I would definitely check the acoustic version from 2017.

Its so funny, cause even those who loves him cant say or write his name right. Seems that lots of foreigners have problems writing his name correctly. His name is MortEn and you pronounce it Mor (like saying «more») + ten (the number). Its not hard 😉

Isn't this the only number one song in America by a artist or group from Norway? Growing up in the 80s I remember it was the best video on MTV as far as emotion, talent and very creative artists making their video. This video and Money for Nothing by Dire Straits owned all of 1985...this one though felt sad in a beautiful way. The way the drumbeat slows down for "I'll be gone" is where you feel what I'm trying to say

When you see Morten in the videos,he always looks like this over confident guy, every girls dream.....and you paint a picture of him thats pretty much far from the truth. As you rightfully noticed, when she spotted a fan waving at him (most possibly a rather cute/beautiful female on first row),thats when you see Morten as the real him, maybe abit socially awkward at times. Modest and surprisingly "shy" at times, there is no huge ego there. Morten on vocals,Paal on guitar (and several other instruments) and Magne on keys have done what no other Norwegian band did before them,or after them. They "conquered USA" and the rest of the world (or had a breakthrough as we technically say)
And my guy Morten has the longest chest note in the world (guinness world of records) both in the studio and live. The song is Summer Moved On. Clocked in at 20,2 seconds. There is a clip from the same concert here on youtube with that song, defintly recommended by me. The crowd is cheering him on as they know its coming, and the crowd reaction afterwards gives me goosebumps.
Not gonna go more into detail,as its just spoiling the fun. I think closed captions is available for it too,so you can pick up what he is saying about the note after the performance.
I dont remember how much A-Ha you have done, but i would recommend to dive more into them. I know theese guys more then i know any other band or artists out there. And trust me,rolling stone magazine etc considers them a 1 hit wonder, but thats far from the truth. They have many songs i consider better then Take On Me. You want them to really get you dancing? Train Of Thought! Or The Blood That Moves The Body (my absolute favourite song by them) You Are the One & Touchy! is just 2 fun videos they shot in the US. Would be my top suggestions for you,if you choose to dive more into them. And dont worry Jamel,A-Ha does not strike hard down on reactors. They did everything right, made it big outside of Norway, and they seem to have a network behind them that does everything right as well. They are pretty much theyr own bosses after all theese years, whereas other bands trying to do the same as them, seems to have a management and record label that does not understand how to do whats best for theyr artists...
A-Ha has experienced an increase in reaction videos lately, and its wonderful. I consider them up amongst the eighties greats like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, even U2,INXS and so on. Once you take a deepdive into theyr musical world, even to songs they dont have official videos for,you will understand.

"Summer moved on" from the same concert, Vallhall, Oslo 2001 is amazing. The same with "The living Daylights", "The sun always shines on TV" and many other songs. Morten had a cold that night, and you can hear it if you listen close - regardless of that it is an amazing concert. There are some duets with Norwegian artist Anneli Drecker that are hauntingly beautiful, "You'll never get over me" and "I wish I cared". The 2010 concert in Oslo Spektrum is great, as well. I got to see them in concert for the first time (after 36 years) twice the last six weeks. It was amazing.
