Fiji is a fantastic mixing pot of culture. With a massive Indian influence in the major cities to Kava drinking locals in the outer islands. It is an experience that we will never forget.
In this adventure we entertain ourselves in the big city of Suva then set sail to Kandavu known for it’s incredible diving on astrolobe reef and Kava. The diving was indeed spectacular. From Manta Rays to Dog Tooth Tuna. Kandavu has it all including Kava!
As we sail around the world we always do research before setting arriving in a new place. We google. We read blogs of other cruisers. This time we came across the logs of the sailing vessel Delos (the first pioneers of sailing youtube channels). Sure enough, they came to Kandavu and sailed right into Kavala Bay. It's no coincidence that the word 'Kava' is inside 'Kavala Bay'. As soon as we stepped foot on land we were invited that night to a Kava ceremony. Kava is a big deal in Fiji as well as well as many other nations in the South Pacific especially Vanuatu. Kava is a muddy drink made by grinding up Kava root. It's a sedative, anesthetic and euphoriant. Basically it's effects are much like alcohol but perhaps not as strong.
Finally after much shenanigans in Kandavu, we were off to the Yasawas, the sunny side of Fiji where the beautiful beaches, sunsets and scenery did not disappoint! We hope you enjoy this episode as we poke around the south and western parts of Fiji.

I hate using the word "epic", but that view and drone footage was splendiferous. Keep up with the underwater footage, it makes my heart surge. Those manta rays were incredible

Great video again, have to say though, that often, when you cut, I don't get the time that has passed. Like... is it the next day... 2 days etc. Sometimes it would be nice to know how much times has passed. But not a biggy! Please keep up the great work!
You guys are learning! The cruiser community gives a place a bad rep. 3 to 5 yrs later the place has done a 180 change. The trick is to be in the group that comes in before everyone finds out about it. There are a lot of gems out there. Good luck finding and enjoying them!

I live in Quebec, so I know exactly what you mean when you talk about long wait time in hospitals in Canada....haha...Once I waiting 12 hours with my buddy who got bit by a dog and was basically bleeding out.
When the next couple climb that rock in another 300 years or so, they'll find your sunglasses. You guyz is crazy.
nice video. One question: How do you "secure" your boat, while you make trips on land, make expeditions etc.. especially when you are at the end of the world and leave the boat all by itself; is it not tempting for others to "look" for valuable things or even take the whole boat?

I am 69 and have been at sea all my life perhaps 50,000 miles so far. I think a cat is the best. don't forget to shackle the end of your anchor to a bulkhead or it will run out and be gone! rope won't cut it . not much fun when this happens in Venice.

Well did you find your glasses on the way down??? If you'd put a sport string on them and hang them around your neck you'd never loose them... That's what I did with my wife's motorcycle glasses. She lost a very expensive pair when the wind blew them off her face. The next stop I had to buy her another pair that we really couldn't afford so I bought her a sports string to go on them. She's had this pair ever since... Great video... BBE

Sorry binge watching old episodes but, $140 for a Drs visit to get ear drops and eye drops 😱 In the US thats would at least be a $300-400 visit for everything.
