As a lefty. I might work on it to fit me. Because I love the blade shape and I'm only going to mess up a twenty something knife. Thanks for showing me this JB.
Commenting on my fiance's account because I didn't realize I was signed into her's. I have scrawled through these comments and the main issue seems to be quality control. A lot of people are complaining that screws are stripped from the factory(same here) but that they enjoy the blade shape and feel. I agree that the steel should be better for the price but 8cr13 is usable so I'm not going to complain too much, if I wanted a supersteel I have to be comfortable paying supersteel price.
I dropped Gerber a while back but recently have been buying them again. The QC and designs have improved. Can you do an episode on the importance of high end steels? I think we are putting way too much weight on super steels. Most people just need a simple blade that they can sharpen
I like the design of this one. Gerber seems to be showing up more this year with a couple nice offerings. Their USA-made knives are starting to improve with the Savvy. Give that one a look JB! You might dig it! It's a 20CV crossbar-locking knife. Definitely a step-up from their Bugout-esque Sedulo and into more premium territory. It's also part of the 'Gerber Reserve' program for USA-made small-batch knives. ✌
Thank you for for the review. As someone who can’t afford a Manix, PM2, or even an Elementum, having a review on something my wife wouldn’t use to flay me because I spent too much on a knife.
I have the pledge, and yes, the thumb stud will reverse mine is im a lefty. I reversed both the stud and the pocket clip. For being a cheap knife id recomend it to any one. I've had great luck with it & I'm not easy on knives. This knife will do 6 the average person needs it to do. You can sit here and find or make up some reason to complain about any knife. But those are things that will never affect the average person. Now, this isn't a fighting knife that you're going to war with ofcoarse. But no one claimed it to be. Its a great cheap knife for the average persons EDC
I'm left handed and did the thumb stud or clip have any troubles switching them to left handed carry? Saw someone else say their knife got stripped trying to switch it over.
@@spaea2062 mine switched over just fine. I wish we could add pictures to youtube comments, id show you mine. I always add a dab of blue lock tight to all the screws when I get a knife. Even after doing that I decided to switch everything around and none of my screws stripped or got jacked up. Just make sure you use the proper size torx bit and you'll be fine
Definitely caught my eye at tractor supply from the blade shape always been a fan of tanto blades but I haven’t seen too many in reverse I also don’t totally dig the pocket clip also I don’t have jumbo hands even then I find it extremely difficult to slide my thumb onto the ramp to actually get it to open
For the price, not bad. To me, it seems like a good starter knife for someone who is thinking about starting a knife collection. My first knife was really inexpensive, but it got me interested.
@@BigRedEDC it's a waste of money and no one cares about your collection other than your own, your family members judge you secretly. Everyone else who collects knife might be excited about your collection but only to fuel their own addiction? Ultimately it's a materialistic way of spending.
A more premium materials version would probably sell well as it’s it’s own unique entry in the Gentleman’s dress knives category. I bet they could run Ti scales with m390 for at or under $100.
I tried reversing my thumb ledge thing because gerber said it was reversible. It is not. Carful with the pocket clip screws. Mine were lock tighted pretty and stripped one.
This knife is complete. Pos for lefties! I purchased 2 and returned them both! On the first one ,the Reversible thumbstud was stripped by the factory. On the second, the pocket clip screws were stripped!
If I’m doing a lot of repetitive cutting I like a lot of the handle sticking up like that… but that is a rare occasion. Otherwise seems decent. Thanks for sharing, JB.
@@BigRedEDC yep i am going to add it to my EDC along with my thrunite archer mini , and my pilot g2 pen, im a mechanic and the light and pen are a daily carry for me but i needed a small knife, this one seems to fit the role perfect
@@BigRedEDC I figured out I got the 7cr steel version. There is a d2 version that’s better but more expensive. I don’t know what the difference is but I know the one I have is really bad.
You know I love that blade style almost like a straight razor flat...yeah I really do like this one! And what a deal on the price! Yeah I think this is one I'll get! Thanks for sharing this one Mr.JB! Ticks most the boxes! Dig it! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #22ADAY I'll never quit quitting 👍🏻🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏻
Like the thumbstud on this one. Though cheap Gerbers are usually bad news in my experience. The pivot is weird, I like the different shape, but then just having the plain screw on the other side looks weird.
Good price would b a great beater work knife 4sho w that blade -- their fixed blades n the auto that has been deployed alot...(can't remember model)- other than that gerber been off the radar - great vid tho my man
Someone gifted me one of these models (I transferred the coin, of course). I don't like it. It's too big for my EDC style. It takes up a LOT of real estate in your cargo pant pocket. Also, if you need to flick it open in a hurry...you are gonna cut your thumb on the blade. The motion to open with a flick is too slow thanks to the long blade. That means you comeback to the frame to flick again and your thumb will run along the blade under the 'thumb ledge'. I think a blade this long needs always be a top flicker (pointer finger), not a thumb flicker. Sorry but it goes in the re-gifting drawer.
Was a big Gerber guy, UNTIL.... I bought this absolute trash knife. Thumb stud screws broke off with zero effort, won't stay sharp for nothing, and I deal with knives daily, both sharpening and cooking. Don't waste the money. Quality is nonexistent
As a lefty. I might work on it to fit me. Because I love the blade shape and I'm only going to mess up a twenty something knife. Thanks for showing me this JB.

I think it's a nice looking design. I'd carry that one! Cheers, buddy!

Nice! I will have to give it a look! Thanks for checking this one out!
Love the sleekness of the knife the only issue I have with it is that it comes open too easy while in your pocket
Never had that issue
mines the oposite, i can barely flip it open.

LOL....check out my Bargain Bin playlist! Some great inexpensive!
Looks good to me, JB! I like the thumb stud, wish it extended to the other side though, for symmetry if not for the lefties.
Thanks Dave!
Great looking knife! I like that slim design!
I do as well Mike!
Definitely a righty only, despite the reversible stud and clip. I removed the pocket clip completely and got a very comfortable utility tool.
Very good
The bladeshape reminds me of the Gerber straight lace. Not a Happy Hand pocketclip. For the money it's decent enough. Thank you JB.
I would agree Jeroen! Was worth checking out!

is it spring assist?
No it's not
Can't beat that price. Fan of the blade shape too.
Not bad at all!!!
I agree that it has a great profile. For the price it'd be very hard to beat.
It was definitely worth taking a look at!

I don’t mind steel. It’s more about edge geometry for me. But maybe that’s because I only use my knives for one thing once a day. 🤷🏾♂️
