Oh! I played a similar game when i was a kid! But instead of powder we used chalk! It was called "Казаки Разбойники". ''Soldiers Criminals''. The criminals have a 5 minute headstart. The leader decides on the secret word and gives out parts of it to its underlings. When the criminals run, they leave arrows with chalk to where they went. And the seekers didn't scream when hunting. They just tagged them and brought them to the start point, where they interrogated them (usually by ticking or minor bullying) untill they said their part of the word or untill one of their comrades freed them by tagging them and running away. The criminals had no win condition lol. We still had fun. I remember i 'confiscated' a criminals shoes so he would tell me the word. He didn't. He got tagged out of jail and had to run away shoeless. Ah, those were the good days.

YALL STORY TIME BUT IT'S A REDDIT STORY:I was 12 when I first saw it. It was a normal game like every other time. I was the fox and I was doing a damn good job at evading my friend’s attempts to catch me, well… Well till it all went silent, not even the damn birds dared to make a single sound! I obviously thought it weird so I waited and I waited, hoping my friends would find me or atleast make a sound. Obviously you and I both know what happened to those poor kids, no parent should have to bury their child… Eventually I saw it, a black blur zipping from tree to tree, ever so slowly making its way towards me, even despite the fact it could’ve easily ran straight at me and I wouldn’t have had the chance to escape. In hindsight I think the hound considered ending the game that quickly too boring. As soon as I saw it I started running, leaving a trail behind me so as to not break the rules of the game. I think my young mind subconsciously knew that breaking the rules would be fatal. I managed to make it to my house and ended the trail just outside of it before running inside and to my parents, obviously they didn’t believe me and they just locked the doors and told me to calm down, I don’t blame them, I would’ve done the same had I not known the danger. Unfortunately my error led to it finding my home and during the night it stood outside my window, staring at me while I hid under the covers. Eventually it opened the window and got in my room, yet it still just stood and stared at me. At the time I didn’t exactly know why but, it spared my life. Of course not without a price for me to pay, or rather, a dare for me to do. The hound left a piece of paper on the floor of my room, a list of rules and steps not too different from the one you read now, just without the extra text and it was far more serious in tone. Young me just kept the paper on me for all these years, well till now I did. For the past few nights I’ve seen it watching me through the windows and I know exactly why, it was running out of patience, it was lenient before as I was young but now the hound was getting impatient and at that point I knew exactly what it wanted me to do. So, here we are, victim or victims depending on how many read this. It knows you’ve read this for some reason I don’t know but it knows and the hound is coming for you. Gather your friends or don’t, the hound doesn’t care just as long as you play the game. Clock’s ticking, good luck. PS: i just copied and pasted it but it's still good ;)

Sarah never understood the reason why she played this game, but she always liked it. It was fun and fun things were good. As she grew up her father passed when she turned 14. When it was time to play the game she was very excited and took the powder straight off the counter and ran outside. Her brother stayed as she ran into the pitch Black Forest leaving the trail of dusty ash behind her. She was playing normally and wanted to play a little trick. Just a little one. No harm right? So she hid in a tree and put a fake trail leading off. Soon enough she heard screaming coming from the distance. Her brother was near. She was sure of it as sure as she was that she was alive. The tree rustled with the wind as the screaming grew louder and louder. She closed her eyes and waited. The screaming grew louder and louder as Sarah giggled and she didn’t seem to notice how the scream wasn’t anything like her brothers. She shook the tree trying to give her brother a hint. The screaming stopped abruptly. She felt the tree shake slowly and she hid in the branches trying to hide from her brother. She looked around laughing and saw it. She stared hard as it’s blackened mouth reached wide and ripped her apart. The sound of her ribs snapping and limbs being torn off filled the air. Her screams were heard from all over the forest. Her brother, who never came after her was watching television. The screen was static and he saw ash on the floor near his foot. He head screaming and it grew louder and louder. It was coming. It was his turn to play.

Oh! I played a similar game when i was a kid! But instead of powder we used chalk! It was called "Казаки Разбойники". ''Soldiers Criminals''. The criminals have a 5 minute headstart. The leader decides on the secret word and gives out parts of it to its underlings. When the criminals run, they leave arrows with chalk to where they went. And the seekers didn't scream when hunting. They just tagged them and brought them to the start point, where they interrogated them (usually by ticking or minor bullying) untill they said their part of the word or untill one of their comrades freed them by tagging them and running away.
The criminals had no win condition lol. We still had fun.
I remember i 'confiscated' a criminals shoes so he would tell me the word. He didn't. He got tagged out of jail and had to run away shoeless.

YALL STORY TIME BUT IT'S A REDDIT STORY:I was 12 when I first saw it. It was a normal game like every other time. I was the fox and I was doing a damn good job at evading my friend’s attempts to catch me, well… Well till it all went silent, not even the damn birds dared to make a single sound! I obviously thought it weird so I waited and I waited, hoping my friends would find me or atleast make a sound. Obviously you and I both know what happened to those poor kids, no parent should have to bury their child… Eventually I saw it, a black blur zipping from tree to tree, ever so slowly making its way towards me, even despite the fact it could’ve easily ran straight at me and I wouldn’t have had the chance to escape. In hindsight I think the hound considered ending the game that quickly too boring. As soon as I saw it I started running, leaving a trail behind me so as to not break the rules of the game. I think my young mind subconsciously knew that breaking the rules would be fatal. I managed to make it to my house and ended the trail just outside of it before running inside and to my parents, obviously they didn’t believe me and they just locked the doors and told me to calm down, I don’t blame them, I would’ve done the same had I not known the danger. Unfortunately my error led to it finding my home and during the night it stood outside my window, staring at me while I hid under the covers. Eventually it opened the window and got in my room, yet it still just stood and stared at me. At the time I didn’t exactly know why but, it spared my life. Of course not without a price for me to pay, or rather, a dare for me to do. The hound left a piece of paper on the floor of my room, a list of rules and steps not too different from the one you read now, just without the extra text and it was far more serious in tone. Young me just kept the paper on me for all these years, well till now I did. For the past few nights I’ve seen it watching me through the windows and I know exactly why, it was running out of patience, it was lenient before as I was young but now the hound was getting impatient and at that point I knew exactly what it wanted me to do. So, here we are, victim or victims depending on how many read this. It knows you’ve read this for some reason I don’t know but it knows and the hound is coming for you. Gather your friends or don’t, the hound doesn’t care just as long as you play the game. Clock’s ticking, good luck. PS: i just copied and pasted it but it's still good ;)
