Why does NO ONE play as the BEST TRADE NATION?

- EU4 Novgorod is one of the best trading nations in EU4. Thanks to it's position in the novogorod trade node and nice national ideas, you can easiliy become the richest nation in the game before forming EU4 Russia and going on an absolute rampage. That being said, you do need to actually survive the initial EU4 muscovy war which is no easy task. Let me know, is this the best trade nation in EU4?
THIS is the BEST TRADE NATION in EU4!

A drydock is in fact, as the name implies, a dry dock. Think huge bathtub with a sluice at one end, drive boat in, close sluice, pump water out, repair ship, pump water back in, open sluice, drive out. Of course there are other designs but that's the general idea. You will often find references to warships having to enter dry dock. Meaning they would be out of commission for a long time, most often due to heavy battle damage or extensive retrofitting.
nice
what in the humbuckin fuck is a sluice
@@mrquokka4733 Like a door that comes up and down vertically.
Holy shit thats a good idea
For a second I thought "who the fuck doesn't know what a drydock is, it's in the name" then I remembered I grew up down the road from a drydock
"I don't understand why Boris is in charge" Truly a UK moment
Lol
I don't understand why Boris isn't in charge
@@joundii3100 you don’t want to
How did rishi lose to Liz truss and still became prime Minister.
@@peterruf1462 Truss was PM for a month, crashed the economy, resigned and the party decided to just allow Sunak to win unnopposed
The title could just said Laith play Novgorod lol
I Pick Lübeck over any other Trading Nation! And now Hansa Gang the Rest is yours!
You dont get to pick your ruler if you consolidate power in the doge, which should really be made more obvious in the tooltip for the reform
If you are Venice you keep your lottery elections. I guess they made it more available and forgot to say what it does for other countries.
If you do form Russia as Novgorod, you get the Great Veche Republic which is basically the Trade Version of Tsardomm so you don't miss out on the big manpower modifier!
Novgorodian Russia stronger both economically and military cuz it is tsardom republic with russian ideas
The good ending
I very much agree that EU4 should have more emotionally gripping moments. I get sick of just expanding, and I wish there were more events and mechanics for things like literacy, poverty, disease, education, sanitation, etc that really immerse you in the context you're in, as opposed to just a pure numbers and strategy game.
Hopefully they take what works from Victoria 3 and apply it here later down the road
@@connormcgee4711 Thats called meiou and taxes , but that shit runs like ass lol most of the major calculations are done on a single core
"I genuinely don't understand why... Boris is in charge" Hehehe
Day fucking 9 or something of asking Laith to continue his Victoria 3 Tunisia campaign God help me
It’s day 11 ❤
He lies
Must be a Tunisian thing
MOOOOOOOOORE, it'll only get more interesting once you form Russia as you get a massive reward for doing it as Novgorod, wont spoil what
spoil it
Oh no, I just finished my Frozen Assets run. What the heck was the massive reward? I NEED TO KNOW NOW!
its nothing i lied for dramatic effect
@@KosturKos You disappoint me friend, bigly disaportment
@@heisenstein6392 well i didnt fully lie u get the cool government form
The government reform "consolidate power in the doge" disables elections thus why boris is in charge
you can sell heavies at the start to baltic countries you can get a decent 100 ducats easy of them
Please do a part two, this game is really fun to watch
About the nature of EU4 that you talked about around 26:00 - it is a weird thing about the Paradox games, CK is full on character based, EU4 is all about conquest, Victoria is economics, HoI4 is logistics/wartime production; a moderate mix of all 4 would be an amazing grand strategy game
Imperator Rome tried to do that before being abandoned (hopefully it’s picked up again in the near future!) but it was really the definition of a jack of all trades; master of none.
@@orlandogreenhow2870 tbh it did a decent job after a few patches. IR is very underrated in its current state but the lacking release state ruined it :/
That would destroy the world as no other strategy game would be able to compete especially if it went through ck3-hoi4 or stellaris
Continue the campaign. It's really interesting. But don't blob too much west instead laro your way east
Go on and form a based Russia, with strong republican values. Perhaps even humanist ideas as a nod to ethnic diversity of modern Russia.
Loving the daily vids to watch after work! You got me back into eu4 after God knows how many years lol
I'd love to see this turn into a series
We haven't had a campaign in a long time, so seeing this one continued would be such a great news
When you Consolidate Power in the Doge, the election cycle changes to ruler reigns for life, Venetian lottery-style elections upon ruler death. I don't recommend it for non-Venetian republics.
Your Content is amazing and I can’t wait to watch this video, thank you for uploading.
No! Lathe sucks!1!1!111!

@@FonikosGazmas so THAT'S what she told you, son
@@CharlieKellyEsq bruh... not what I meant but you do you i guess 🤷
I totally agree with you in terms of EU4 lacking storytelling. Only way of giving some kind of storytelling is the events and i think Paradox just focuses on making the game easier or harder for the player, but they should give sort of emotion as well. That would make the game way more fun
I definitely agree, it's why I almost always mod Eu4, be it Anbennar or some immersion mod as they tend to add those more personal or roleplay events.
Don't worry Laith, I understood the Vincent Kompany joke
0-0 laith denmark will get you next time
You should continue this series
okay so i love your content but what i don't love is the same music looping over and over again for 39 minutes non-stop. wish there were variety as it starts to get annoying and feels lazy but that may just be me
Gorbachev dream timeline
really hope we get to see you finish the mission tree for novgorod
5:30 how did you get that menu
Please do continue if you feel like it!
As a belgian i enjoyed your joke lol
It's the royal we
A LOT of the novgorod start depends on if you can get someone like Poland or Denmark to ally with you early on, which can just be luck of the draw.
Hoping you're just a belgian football enthusiast and not a city fan after that awful football joke lmao
Sincerely, a Liverpool fan
Oh I'm Belgian and I get the jokes. More niche Belgian jokes so subtle noone else will see. Just us two.
Because the point of playing EU is playing as Byzantine Empire, of course ^^
Come on Laith, you keep giving us cool videos but none of them are Galicia Volhynia. When will it happen man?
Lore of Why does NO ONE play as the BEST TRADE NATION momentum 100
I dont like the fact that every video, people keep asking him to continue but he never do so. Like come on man!
You consolidated power in the doge. That’s why Boris is in charge.
Vincent company. Worry not, you had my laugh if that means anything.
I have spent 30 hours with Novrogod, so glad to see you playing this
You deleting your 3 heavies instead of selling em was painful
Y yu no leave a bit of muscovy alive in the east to colonize Siberia for you?
"Improve the lives of my people" in Eu4, LOL
I'm Belgian, so I at least got the Company joke!
Take Poland’s coastline and Gotland
Nice one :) When will you go to Ulm though?
I would rather choose the one who can fight!
Nice green colour, so you have to continue.
The british in July 2019: 20:23
You should check out Budget Monks recent video on trade. Super well made, and I finally understand trade 1,960Hrs of Eu4 later
We need hot seas. We should get Denmark
20:22 Every Brit from 2019 to 2022....
Novgorod is one of my favourite nations
This was a real good one
5:40 Damn I immediately got that Vincent Kompany Joke^^ Cheers Laith and Panini stickers xD
Personally I prefer small nations. It's more fun to see my small Florence form Italy then some large already powerful nation get even bigger.
Has your game UI always been this tiny? I've somehow never noticed until now.
Lübeck: Am i a Joke to you
I don't know who this man is, the laith I know constantly struggles and immediately clicks missions
You should've subjugated Ryazan in my opinion
I like how you answered the question of the video title in like the first minute of the video
Pretty sure the best trade nation in EU4 is Bengal or Gujarat, solely based on their ideas and being on the Indian subcontinent.
If you don’t want to save the heavies, just sell them for 50 ducats each to whoever wants them.
150 ducats is better than the 0 you get from deleting them.
I looked away and Sweden had been cut in half….I was watching this and missed it
I do
More Elder Kings 2
please continue
Merchant republic Russia. Woo!
Moar Novgorod! 🤘
Pls continue
Best trade nation is Riga into Haseatic league and finish both mission trees and ideas for tradeefficiency and edicts I have Lübeck at 200 value at 1620 and I earn 498 in Lübeck by trade and I haven’t even played optimal as it’s a multiplayer
Can Riga form the hansa?
No part 2, sadge
ive had the merc event at least two times but the generals are always terrible...
The masses demand part 2 or you get -1 stability!
Cool
Hungary?
Fuck, close enough yet a miss😂
Roma et Imperia
Novgorod really is one of the most interesting historical nations to me
eu4 needs a GDP graph, lol
Laith still using the theme from The Movies
i would absolutely LOVE a part 2
Top tier Novgorod gameplay. Please continue this series!

There is a small country called Croatia in Austria, I challenge you to play as Croatia, become independet, destroy Austria, drive ottomans back, have full control over old yugoslavia territories, try to also be in top 10 powers at the end of the challenge. Thanks for everything you do :D Have a good day. And if you by any chance find this easy I can give a few extra rules I guess something like "You must stay monarchy always, cannot trade with the austrians and ottomans (embargo em pretty much), cannot ally the austrians, ottomans, serbs, montenegro and russians. I think thats it. It could be too much even for such a CHAD like you". I do apologise for not saying it right away this is for Victoria 3. Day 19 of asking. Come on Laith I know youre seeing this I have no plan on stopping :D.
I personally think that EU IV and later EU V should lean into the board game aesthetic that the game has and play more like a board game of such complexity to only be possible on computer than a realistic simulation
You look a little sick, do you think you could have contracted Hääva?
Please continue the goddamn campaign. It would be a crime not to continue this.
Don't worry, your gay democratic didn't get the football joke either 😉
I think adding flavor for the happiness of your people would be good. @paradox
keep ate it !
Isn't it wrong to label Novgorod a Republic seeing as they elected princes? Wouldn't that make them an electorate like Poland-Lithuania?
It’s more so a republic because the Veche, as in the merchants and the common people in general had a say in the election. An elective monarchy would imply the nobility voting for the king for the most part, like dukes and such.
Plus the Prince of Novgorod had much less power in comparison to a king in Poland-Lithuania, so it’s more like a republic because of that
