I've got another playthru idea you guys can have a go at... It involves playing as England, Scotland, and/or Ireland and trying to beat Queen Elizabeth's length of reign... Diamond Star Achievement - Elizabeth II - 70 years + Gold Star Achievement - Victoria - 63 years + Silver Star Achievement - Henry III - 56 years + Bronze Star Achievement - William of Scotland - 48 years + Brass Star Achievement - Elizabeth I - 44 years + Copper Star Achievement - Henry VIII - 38 years + Stone Star Achievement - William The Conqueror - 20 years +
Third time’s the charm, once again Laith, you can become Norse with these requirements: - Danish, Swedish, Norweigan, Icelandic or Norse as primary Culture - Is in Age of Discovery - Not had the country flag "had_norse_nostalgia" - is excommunicated OR has modifier "the_statue_in_restraint_of_appeals" - ruler has Scholar trait OR Sinner trait OR is at least 5/5/5 - Owns the province Bergslagen - Is independent Takes 100 years to happen, reduced by 0.5x (50, then 25) by having religious ideas and being excommunicated. Good to see Paradox fixing all the flaws and missing features. Hoping they get around to fixing Lithuania and adding a branching path for Romuva revival or Hussite conversion Lithuania is also in serious need of historical flavor in regards the sucession crisis and Švitrigaila claimant to the thrones of Poland and Lithuania (he's still very much alive in 1444)

Was also going to mix in "For the Emperor!" and try to get some use out of 40k Marines, so colony shenanigans when not fighting in the northern HRE.

Hi Laith, just wondering what happened to Tom? He hasn’t been in a video in a while and I always enjoyed his more serious/historical content in conjunction with your gameplay. Hope to see vids with the two of you again soon!
exploration is useful cos it allows you to build conquistadors and if u are warring some 5 tribes and only one is on the coast and the others are in unexplored lands ur basically screwed for getting warscore... also... exploring the world helps you build many colonies in many locations quicker... even if u go exploration just for a short period just getting the first 2 u can get rid of it later and get another idea.. so i still generally go for it first before expansion.. unless im not planning on going to the new world etc
I've got another playthru idea you guys can have a go at... It involves playing as England, Scotland, and/or Ireland and trying to beat Queen Elizabeth's length of reign... Hey laith, Been messing about with Norway and the biggest issue for them is their economy (I find). It is really hard to get ducats rolling in. Yes, you can mothball forts, mothball your heavies, turn off army maintenance but then you are losing army tradition and professionalism, as well as impairing rebels, but even with all that the revenue stream is seriously poor. I tried not granting the mana privileges and that helped a bit as I had a good run with rulers so I could afford not to take them. In my run today I chose to take chunks of Sweden rather than PUing them and that helped a bit although rebels were an issue. The one thing I botched on both runs was trying to dev up the provinces to 8 before I had unlocked the Bhurger mountain dev privilege. That was a serious 'oopsie' as I discovered after I unlocked it and found all the bonuses for mountain dev!
I was trying to play as TO and Sweden was spamming me with support independence, I had two of those notification up there constantly for a while. It was very annoying and I didn’t want them independentl, I seen they had pretender rebels so I asked them for mil access shipped my army over there and killed them. Eventually I had to dec on Denmark to stop them asking for support. It was incredibly annoying because each time I ignored the notification I lost opinion, I didn’t want them to hate me I just didn’t want them free and allied to Lithuania and Muscovy.
The biggest issue i've found with not taking exploration ideas as Norway is that you cannot fabricate claims in the new world for your subjects. Meaning, once you have five provinces in a region you lose any ability to conquer natives unless you get REALLY lucky with your subjects AI. I'm really hoping Paradox fixes Norways ideas to grant that ability, since otherwise you HAVE to take Exploration or Espionage Ideas ;/ Both of which would be a waste of a slot.
If you set a province as vital interest your subjects should try and fabricate a claim there if they can, not sure how well that works with colonial nations though.
Well you can just wait for a native nation to declare on your CN and then enforce peace, take over the war, and conquer that way, so you should be able to conquer just fine without full exploration.
This is how you do it: -Take religions Ideas, (2 nd best admin idea and it is always useful, especially the +10% moral policy) -Start colony right next to anyone you want to kill -As soon as the colony starts you get the Deus Vult CB on them -land troops and declare. -Cancel colony.

2:00 why would anyone chose to reduce liberty desire while playing as a vassal unless they just want to be integrated and then stop playing? its kinda odd they even put that in the game
option for the AI and it is probably a heavily weighted option (meaning more likely to be chosen) so that playing as Denmark doesn't mean that Norway is guaranteed to rebel/be rebellious.
Fun fact! Mikmaq is not the correct spelling or pronounciation of the tribe in that region of Canada, (also seen around new Brunswick and Maine which are both westerly to Nova Scotia) its spelt "Mi'kmaq", and is "Mi'gmaq" in english pronunciation

If you can find 1 more (national idea's, policies) having it capped 100 all the time is quite easy.
some trivia, since this a section of the game a lot of players are uneducated on:
High naval tradition will result you having 3 star admirals. It's nice to have high pips but what's important. Again very different from army general pips, the movement pips is the most important one. It will increase the value when protecting trade. It will allow for bigger combat width which means more ships in the battle at the same.
A heavy costs 3 combat width, other ships 1. I suggest having some galley's in your fleet even if you want to go full heavy.
Ship cost reduction also reduces upgrade costs. Light ships and protecting trade also kinda works like fortifications and army tradition. If it's outdated you won't get as much out of it, meaning those numbers above only apply when your light ship is up to date. Ships in general don't update too often, and it is worth to at least upgrade these.
Is trade ideas useless then? No there are plenty countries that will have no or a few coastal provinces, if you can't fight for naval control or it is sus at best. Trade ideas will most likely be a better option. Trade ideas in general is focused on land trade, where maritime is best for sea trade. They are essentially both trade ideas just look at what is most important for you.
