Love this! My parents live this every day. My Dad was diagnosed when he was 26 with MS and is classified as a parapelegic today. They have been married for 43 years and are still in love. It is challenging, but they do it every day. We are raising our 2 children to understand disabilities and Grampy is their hero. Thanks for sharing this!

This was so good! It was warm, and funny, and educational, and even after 25 years of marriage, Shane’s reminder that a husband and wife are a team first really struck a chord in me. This was a great show on so many levels. Thank you all for sharing with us.
I adore those two, so funny and real. They've taught me a lot about accessibility and disability. They are livin' life right. Thanks for having them on! Everyone should be following these two! Thing is, we all have the same basic needs physically and emotionally and we all do certain things differently based on our own circumstances. We like the food we like, the processes we like, sitting on the side we like, and wearing the colors we like. No two are truly the same because we are all unique. Knowing this, I don't get why anyone would think any person 'wrong' or 'less worthy' just because of differences because if all of us are unique, that's kinda the point. Who cares if he sits down rather than stands or rolls rather than walks or if he needs someone to bring things to him or feed him. We all do things for those we love (and even total strangers) so that's not a big deal, it's just part of his functioning in life and he's living life well and successfully, which is the goal for anyone. Our differences make us stronger as a society and allow us to learn and grow as humans only limiting us when we choose not to see that differences are a good thing. So let's make a universal design world that works for everyone and enjoy it together with laughter and love so we can stop judging or condemning differences rather than embracing them.

My mom had a genetic specialist actually try to talk her into either aborting me or "letting nature take its course" just for the simple fact that I'd never walk because I was going to be born with Spina Bifida and permanently in a wheelchair in terms of walking. I'm so sick of hearing that someone's life isn't worth living over the simple task of not being able to walk.
My mom was told the same thing. I hate that doctors first reaction is to scare a new mom. Doctors don’t know everything unfortunately. I was born with SB myelomeningocele and she was told that I may not live, I’d 100% not walk and to really think about the quality of my life. I’m 28 now and I walk with AFOs and live a great life. Disability isn’t a death sentence.

Thank you for this interview with Hannah & Shane. I truly appreciate their education & awareness they bring. If anything needs has ever doubted Hannahs' love for Shane, they need to watch their Poland trip. She had some medical testing done & when she came to, she gave the typical "come hither" eyes. It was VERY telling of their love. The non-verbal communication they have is fantastic. Many times have they given an educational moment that makes me stop & think about how skewed my world vision is.

I wanted to say Thank you for sharing the truth about a person who the might be looked at different, I have been married just under 34 years to my high school sweetheart. When I was just 27 our world was turned upside down with a car accident, I since that time have been in wheelchair. There is so much to say about this, from the difference in the way i was treated, the flaws we found because there are so many things that prevent me from experiencing. If I heard one more time someone tell me " I am so lucky my husband did not leave me" I was going to scream because why would he leave me, it does not make sense the way others think. Anyway I wanted to thank you Shawn Andrew, Shane and Hannah for sharing the most important part, we are all equal regardless of all the perceived ideas in this world.
I love Shane and hannah. I'm one of the 4000 first suscribers. I myself have a chronic illness that has kept me in a wheelchair since my approx 30s. And what I want to say is this: I have a f*cking hard time not being able to walk anymore. Just because Shane doesn't have a hard time at all living from a wheelchair doesn't mean that everyone is like that. Living from a wheelchair is different and that is a hard confrontation. And it's also not like the people who are having a hard time are depressed or wallowing in self-pity. I think the confrontation when this happens to you at a later point in your life is already contributing to this. But also, society limits us. And that makes it difficult. Mentally. Also for the partner. Also, I sometimes have a hard time with Shane and Hannah generalizing their view of caregiving. Just because this isn't a burden for them doesn't mean it is for everyone. You wash your partner every day. you feed your partner every day. That takes some doing. Especially when there are children still running around the house. In my case, my partner has to see me in pain every day. With all the worries that come with it. That's not for everyone. Pretending that it's all perfect and never a problem is a generalization that doesn't hold true. It is quite a challenge in a relationship to find a balance. It's something you have to consider and work around as a couple. It is certainly true that every relationship brings its own challenges. In our case, these are now physical. That's true. But I would rather see some nuance from Shane and Hannah. It doesn't go so smoothly for everyone. But it doesn't make us people with dissability any less valuable in a relationship. Let that be clear. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
This was a great episode. I think that Shane and Hannah are an awesome couple. Also being disabled, I can relate to a lot of their experiences. I try to explain to others that my blindness is a characteristic or a part of who I am, not all of who I am. That I would love for others to see me as more than just my blindness. I can do most things that anyone else can do, I just may need to do it differently than the average person. I want to commend Shawn and Andrew for opening up their minds and learning more about a different way of living and how to maybe help others to see differently in the future.
Wow this opened my eyes and taught me a lot! Thanks for sharing another amazing couple (you can see their chemistry and they both are very funny I like their sarcastic banter)!
I’ve watched Shane and Hannah’s TH-cam channel for years now, and love to see two loving people navigating love and the world together. ❤️ It just clicked in my head why I admire them so much. They are among the smaller group of humans who know what real love means. We all have issues through our life time, marriage means you work together to get through them and grow. You are committed to another because they bring joy into your life. That can be in so many ways. If you aren’t willing/ or don’t want to deal with someone else’s issues then why get married/live together? Love is so much more then the frivolous outward appearance people choose to show the world. Shane and Hannah show us we need to open our minds and heart. ❤️
I just adore you guys!!! Shawn and Andrew you are both so inspirational and Squirmy and Grubs to boot yeeeeeeeeeees! God bless you all and just love what you all do and how you reach so many!!! Love you guys!!!

They are doing such cool work normalizing the "social model" of disability, which states that every person is VALUABLE and unique but our ENVIRONMENT is discriminating against some people because it isn't accessible for all -- some people are limited in what they are able to do because of society's FAILURE to support them. So much of our society (from architecture and urban planning, to curriculums, to the healthcare system, to just how we relate to one another) is still stuck in the old "medical model" of disability, where the theory is that there is something wrong with YOU if you don't fit into society's "standards" in any way. I love their love!! Thank you for sharing and promoting their work.
Love these two! And they do inspire me, as a fellow disabled person. They do so well with pacing and taking care of themselves so they can do what makes them happy. I am so bad at that. I push myself so much until my body can't take it anymore. Then crash for so long. I see them as an example of how much more I could accomplish if I just listen to my body, pace, and care for myself.
Sadly, we are not far from a time when someone like Shane, and so many others perceived as imperfect, would have been institutionalized and (even more sadly) not become a well adjusted member of society, with interaction, education and all the things every person needs and desires. I find it insulting that ever happened. Hopefully someday that notion will finally die and each human will be valued beyond what we see or think we know. Shane and Hannah are some of my favorite people who do us all a service by sharing their lives and it's so much fun! So glad you had them on.
My aunt who would have been, 71 years old this year, was born with cerebral palsy. When she was born the doctor wanted my Grandmother to place her in an institute. My Grandmother refused. She also advocated for my aunt to allow to be educated. There was no PT, OT speech therapy, accessible clothing, and several schools refused her.
The same prejudice occurs when a woman loves an older man. Everyone assumes that she’s mooching/that he’s her sugar daddy, that she has only her youth/beauty to offer (and no other qualities), etc.
Funny I was just watching a tech youtuber I follow talking about her relationship where he's 17 years older. And while they both kept saying that it wasnt an issue - they also were completely displaying how much more mature he is. I couldnt finish it because I was eye-rolling so much. I love the way Shane and Hannah include caretaking as just a normal part of their relationship. I've watched enough videos to see that she does respect him and he is confident in the relationship. You cant hide that. But yeah, of course she's the caretaker and there is an unevenness in their physicality - but intellectually not so much.

@@pattijohnson8197 Yet his weight keeps dropping. Do you think they would let viewers know they started using feeding tube ? Shane can't chew anything harder than mashed potatoes and even then he needs his hands to help. They sugar coat everything.
I’m pretty sure this is THEE FUNNIEST TH-cam episode I’ve ever seen. The chemistry of this whole collective is awesome
Oh my gosh yes!! I love you both and so excited for this interview !
Love these two. You should interview Sabia and Loren too.
That’s a really good suggestion!
My mom had a genetic specialist actually try to talk her into either aborting me or "letting nature take its course" just for the simple fact that I'd never walk because I was going to be born with Spina Bifida and permanently in a wheelchair in terms of walking. I'm so sick of hearing that someone's life isn't worth living over the simple task of not being able to walk.
ur spirit would have been born later in another body.
Love this video I also follow Shane and Hannah also and it was awesome having the top 4 people I love watching here on TH-cam congratulations and thanks for an awesome video
Love Squirmy and Grubbs! Best Couple Things yet in my opinion. Nicely done to both couples.
Love love love Shane and Hannah! Glad you had them on!
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I love Shane and Hanna.
Hannah and Shane are wonderful. ❤
Have been following both of you couples for months. How fun to see you together on Couple Things. I've read Shane's book and really love their senses of humor. They are so fun together.
Love for her $2m mansion and fancy restaurants

Oh my god! Yes! I love Hannah and Shane!
I saw this and gasped!!!! Literally my two favorite youtube couples!!!!!!! Made my day!!
How to make $ being a utube couple
Omg I also gasped😆
My two favorite couples in one video!!😍😍

Yay, love seeing you guys have them on your channel. ❤️
I am so envious of the LOVE they have for each other. GOD bless all of you.

I love Shane and Hannah......I watch them all the time...nice to see this episode....subscribing.
Bravo for having these two on. They are amazing.
I finally know one of the couples!!!! Love Hannah and Shane!!!!!!
I love Shane and Hannah, glad ya'll had them on!

I just adore you guys!!! Shawn and Andrew you are both so inspirational and Squirmy and Grubs to boot yeeeeeeeeeees! God bless you all and just love what you all do and how you reach so many!!! Love you guys!!!
Shawn didn’t talk much in this one, but when she did, she made EXCELLENT points… and then she was basically shushed by Andrew at 40:30. Not cool, Andrew!!! Please don’t shut your wife down. That’s not your job. That hurt my heart. :(
Love all of your perspectives!
I’m late to this video but I want to say it was a treat. I follow you both because you are both such great couples.
Been a fan of Shawn’s gymnastics for decades, a subscriber to Squirmy and Grubs for almost as long as they’ve been going. Shane is hilarious and they’re both smart, but BOY Hannah’s a sharp one. I would say they have similar dynamics to Shawn and Andrew. Sorry to be sappy, but y’all are the CUTEST couples! Don’t gag. Lol OH! I just found this channel, BTW. Subscribing now! Stay well and keep laughing y’all! 🌻

Shane and Hannah has learnd me that good chemistry is the most important thing in a relationship. I knew that before I found them, but now I know it even more.
The only thing Hanna has interest in is fame and money. What better way to get noticed than to sit next to disabled guy and laugh at his jokes.

Let's support everyone so we can go bankrupt
Love these two! And they do inspire me, as a fellow disabled person. They do so well with pacing and taking care of themselves so they can do what makes them happy. I am so bad at that. I push myself so much until my body can't take it anymore. Then crash for so long. I see them as an example of how much more I could accomplish if I just listen to my body, pace, and care for myself.
Omg! Love BOTH these couples so much!
Love both of these couples! What a great collab.

I love this couple shane hanna and i wish you all the best❤
I love Shane and hannah !!! Been following them a long time they’re amazing people
You must be an amazing potato yourself.
By far my favorite episode! I follow them and was excited to see them on the podcast.
Great interview I enjoy Shane and Hannah so much!
Funny how you never see a 75-year-old janitor married to a 26-year-old babe, though.
@@patshippy7831 Of course you always see rich and famous guys who are married to young women - because they’re rich and famous! Janitors don’t make the news, social magazines, or business journals.
Yeah, Nakidz, that's the reason you don't see them...🙄
Love this candid conversation, I believe if you don't know the answer then ask the question. If insight and education come from a place of human love then asking is not a negative. Thank you
