I think the store allowed this eating and opening of packages because she asked permission first, probably the manager thought it was good for the store, free advertisement and all, what he/she didn't know is that this lady was going to put her hands, elbows deep into the produce, or rubbed her face and nose into it either.. Lady this is a No-no! no matter which store you walk into. You should know better. I hope you bought all that stuff, it was the polite thing to do..

In society it has negative connotations of course when used informally, but saying someone is ignorant is not equating that person's level of intelligence to the lack of knowledge they have yet to acquire in a certain subject. Obviously she is learning more about the culture via the video which is how one overcomes ignorance and what she hopes to do for people watching the video.

Jessicaisrealawesome but in the US we, Mexicans, need these type of supermarkets because it’s the only place we are going to get all the Mexican imported goods. In Mexico you can go to mom and pop stores and open air markets to get all these things. Supermarkets are usually more Americanized in mexico so you can get the things you won’t find locally or things imported from the US.

I like the ones in Mexico better, but some people prefer to shop at one place only..

Just a dumb question by a dumb german guy: Is it normal and fine with the supermarket staff, if you eat and open up everything in the store? I mean of course they bought it after the shoot, but are "normal" customers doing that as well? I don't want to complain, but it really distracted me watching this video.

Many will offer samples. Yes you can, as long as you pay before you leave the store - you are not going to have an entire meal but if you would like to bite into an apple as you stand 20 minutes at the checkout line, go for it.

    • @cmnweb

You can do that in any market in the world, provided that you asked permission for making a video that involves testing the products in front of the camera. It is very rare seeing ordinary customers eating the products at the moment.

    • @AmadoC007
      @AmadoC007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

personally, my answer is so-so/more or less.
for example I live near the border and I have spent years on both sides(US/MX), there are few stores I feel safe enough to open say a bottle of coke/tea and drink it if I desire, all I have to do is pay for it, be it before hand or when im ready to leave.
noone will bug me because they (if someone say from security) gets to see me, they will know im saving the bottle and I will be charged for it, usually they will stop you if you attempt to drop the bottle.
now about this lady, she took TOO MANY liberties, I wont lie.
every true Mexican marketplace will have one or two places to taste products, like ham or cheese, even some beef or creams.
if you go about your day like this lady the guards will scold you no doubt, she gets to get away with it because she asked for permission.
so this is not "normal" but can be done at the same time, it depends on the people running the place and if they trust you.
noone is going to blame you for opening a can of soda or a bottle of tea if you really need it, as long as you pay for it.

She would be kicked out if she were some random person touching and opening things. The Supermarket's know she's there and they know what is happening, plus all these things that are touched and/or opened are fully paid for.

This comment section makes me sad. We can assume she payed for everything, she tried her best and wasn't disrespectful. Out of the videos in this series that I've seen so far, this has the rudest comment section. Frankly, I'm a bit embarrassed to be a Mexican right now.

Mythical Slytherin It’s impact not intention. I’m proud to be Mexican, always. I’m happy people are calling her and the program she works for out so they know it’s not okay to make ignorant comments and behave that way in any grocery store, no matter the geographical spotlight. Perhaps she didn’t make such ignorant comments in other videos? I don’t know, I won’t be watching them. Even if she paid for everything and did her best, it’s not okay to behave that way and it’s not wrong to be honest about it. It would be wrong to attack anything other than the content.

Cheyenne Dreese The title is a bit misleading but, she is generally exploring. She doesn't need to go into full detail or explain something. Just show off some of the strange or unique stuff that a Mexican Supermarket sells. As somebody who's parents are from Central America, this stuff is perfectly normal to us but, to an outsider willing to explore, like her, it's strange.
