    I bought the tool to adjust my tps sensor on my 2006 Honda crf 450r. And in the repair manual it says that it should be 4 - 6 kΩ. What number should it say on the tool for it to be 5 kΩ? I really need help because I can't figure this out. Please help!

    Good morning! Great video and great info! Where can we find factory THAD setting for 2018 250 XCF? I don't have the service manual. Thank you!

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. I don't have the service manual for that model year, if you can get your hands on it then the information might be in there. However KTM doesn't publish the numbers in every manual for some reason, so it may or may not be in there. Without the manual, my best guess would be that your bike likely matches the values in this video. What you can do is take readings before you make any adjustments, at idle and with the idle backed all the way out (if adjusting your idle moves the TPS), then you have the original settings and can go back to them at any time. From there you can try the settings in this video with no risk. If it runs good but not perfect, you can try adjusting up or down by 0.02V, then check if it's better. Repeat as long as you see improvement. If it gets worse, adjust in the other direction. You should find the best setting for your bike quickly this way. I hope this helps!

      Thank you very much for your comment and your business! Are you trying to solve a particular problem, such as difficult starting or rough running down low, etc.. ? I would start by making sure you're at the factory default. First take the reading as it is now and write it down, then back the idle all the way out and take another reading and write that down too. Now you can go back to your original setting if you want. If the reading is not 0.40V with the idle backed out, then adjust it to 0.40 with the idle backed out. Next turn the idle up until it reads around 0.53. Start it up, fine tune the idle and see how it runs. From there you can fine tune by adjusting the voltage a little higher to go richer, or a little lower to go leaner. I hope this helps, post back if you have any other questions!

    i have a 2022 ktm 350 sx-f that has problems with flameouts. I can't find the default value anywhere in the manual even with searching for the words. Do you think a 22 has the .40 base too?

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your question. As far as I'm aware, the 2022 is 0.40V with the throttle plate fully closed. I'm not sure why KTM stopped publishing the values. Before you make any adjustments, take your reading at-idle and a reading with the throttle plate fully closed, then you'll know where it was set from the factory in case you want to go back to it. For flameouts, make sure your idle isn't too low. If the idle is too low it will flameout easily even with perfect fueling. If the idle is good, first try a slightly lower TPS setting, decrease by ~0.02V and give it a test. Repeat the adjustment as long as you see improvement. If that makes it worse then try a richer setting (increase 0.02V at a time), but flameouts are commonly from being too rich so that's why I would try the lower setting first. Please post back and let us know how it goes!

      Will do! I have one on the way after watching these vids last night. And thanks for the quick reply! So test it running at idle, then off? Or by closed you mean backing the idle out all the way with it off to get the difference like you did here? I think my idle is ok but honestly never touched it. Depending on where my values are at, should I do what you did here and turn idle all the way out, then set to .4, then idle back up to where it's idling nicely?@@TPSTool

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Tburnette60 Thank you very much for your business! If you take the reading as-is (with the idle set as-is), then back the idle all the way out until the throttle plate is fully closed and take another reading, then you will have both the factory base setting (throttle plate fully close) and your current idle speed setting. This will make it possible to return to exactly the settings that you have now if you ever want to. So if you get all out of whack and want to go back to your original setting, back the idle all the way out and adjust the TPS to the base value you wrote down, then turn the idle up until it reads the idle value that you wrote down. Now you're back to exactly where it was before you adjusted it. Does this make sense? :)

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jfricke1188 I apologize for the late reply, I just noticed your response now. On some throttle bodies the idle is adjusted by a screw that moves the throttle plate, and this changes the TPS reading. So for these throttle bodies you have to take the idle setting into account. On other designs of throttle bodies, the idle is controlled by a completely separate air circuit, adjusting the idle on those does not move the throttle plate at all and has no effect on the TPS reading. Does this answer your question?

    Does it tell you what the idle speed is as well, if thats not set right the tps reading wont be correct

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. I believe you have your procedure mistaken. If the goal is to set the TPS to the factory default, and your throttle body is the style that the idle setting also affects the TPS reading (not all do), then the proper procedure is to fully close the throttle plate (idle turned all the way down), then adjust the TPS to the value specified in the manual. This will be the baseline TPS setting. Now the TPS adjusting part is done. To set the idle, now turn the idle up until the TPS reads the value specified as the idle speed TPS reading in the manual. At this point your idle should be in the ballpark, but you may need to tweak the idle speed a little by using the idle speed adjuster. Now you are set to factory defaults. From here you can adjust the TPS itself a little to fine tune the fuel mix if you like. I hope this helps.

      @@TPSTool Thanks for the info, I'm a little confused. If I turn the idle down to zero and set the tps to 0.55 (stock setting in the manual) then turn the idle up, this will increase the tps value to way above 0.55

      I have a 17 350 ece-f (EU) the throttle body it type that any increase in idle speed will effect the tps value. I have see this done by a dealer using the KTM software, when the idle speed is increases, the tps vaue also increases, To set to tps to stock value (0.55) the idle needs to also be in the stock range (1900-2000 rpm), any increase/decrease from the stock idle speed will effect the tps value

    • @TPSTool
      @TPSTool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@philipsmith6152 To set the bike back to factory default, back the idle screw out all the way to close the throttle plate, then adjust the TPS to read 0.40V, now the TPS is set to factory default. Next turn the idle up until the TPS reads 0.55. That should put you near the correct idle speed, maybe a little on the high side. From here you can adjust the idle speed, and yes that will change the TPS reading, but don't adjust the TPS itself unless you are trying to fine tune the fuel mix. See section 25.2 in the 2017 KTM service manual. I'm not sure what your dealer was doing, but it sounds different than what the manual says. You do not need a tachometer to set the TPS correctly, you do need a tachometer if you want to set the idle speed accurately, though most guys just adjust the idle to where they like it. Are you trying to get back to factory default, or are you trying to tweak it for better performance?

      Thanks for your comment. I'm not familiar with that particular motor. If you think the mechanic who cleaned the throttle body adjusted the TPS, then it would be a good idea to set it back to the factory setting, but if he did not move the TPS then the issue is likely something else. Can you ask the mechanic if he moved the TPS? If your eco setting disappeared from the dash board then perhaps the mechanic did more than just clean the throttle body. Did he make adjustments to the computer too?

      Actually after cleaning the throttle body, I was having rough idling problem in my bike and also the bike was very much struggling to go beyond 8k RPM (max on my bike is 15k RPM) while riding.
      Then the other mechanic in order to fix the above problem (rough idling and poor performance) conducted vaccum sync of the throttle body. Even then the problem (rough idling & poor performance) was not solved. So, lastly he adjusted the sub throttle sensors and finally rough idling problem was fixed.
      But after a day I realised that eco mode disappeared from the dashboard and the exhaust smell like petrol. Also mileage of the bike decreased significantly.
      And no adjustments was made in ECU as I was physically present there.

      @@shabbiralam4538It does sound like the motor is getting too much fuel, especially with the oil smelling like fuel. If I had to guess, it sounds like maybe some of the sensors he adjusted are not adjusted correctly. Perhaps the real problem is something else and he tried to correct the problem by adjusting the sensors, but the actual problem was different. Maybe a dirty injector or low fuel pressure, etc.. I would make sure the sensors are adjusted properly according to the service manual, and if it still doesn't run right then the problem must be something other than the sensors.
