Had the pleasure of seeing him perform last night. Got to meet him afterwards -- he grabbed my hand in both of his and shook it. What a nice, warmhearted man, and great performer, songwriter and storyteller. And a way better guitarist than I had ever realized.

This is a beautiful human being. He really enjoys playing for the people and playing around with them. You can feel the love that flows from him at the end when he comes out just to say thank you and" We'll get together again and play some more". He really means it.

as a father and grandfather I find myself quoting John's words " and what's the matter daddy, how come you're turning green?
Can it be that you can't live up to your dreams?" from Younger Generation... as a baby boomer we started out with such dreams and then screwed everything up..sorry.

I saw John a month before this show in Anaheim, California and he was just as care free and happy as this show. Years later in the 80s I was working for a night club in Monterey, Ca. that he was performing at and he invited my wife and I into his dressing room to hang out before the show. We talked about Woodstock and all sorts of cool folks he'd worked with among other things. A very down to Earth Peaced Out kind of guy...... Great Vibes!

Does anyone remember him on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson? Around '70, or '71. He came on stage with his guitar and stopped in the middle of a song, put down his guitar, reached into his front pocket, pulled out a harmonica and started blowing it. Then he stopped, put the harmonica back into his pocket, picked up his guitar and ended the song. Man, that performance turned me into a big-time John B. Sebastian fan! A girlfriend gave me the "Cheapo-Cheapo..." 8-track for my 18th birthday. What memories this brings back.

About twenty years ago, I was at a Summer shopper's days in downtown Concord, NH. They close off the main street and people just walk around eating and buying things. In the midst of the crowd, I heard a Lovin' Spoonful song being sung just the way it should be. I looked over and there was John Sebastian sitting on a metal folding chair surrounded by the dozen or so people who recognized him. Just sitting there doing what he loved to do for whoever wanted to listen. That always comes back to me when I think of him.

John's blues fingerpickin' roots, really shine through on the opening number...great stuff! The man's truly hip, mentioning the great Lonnie Johnson, (from New Orleans). Check out that beautiful acoustic he's playin; abalone inlay, a cutaway, (you didn't see many of those back then), two pickups & 4 tone controls...in his hands, it's all magic! You gotta love artists that readily confess to not knowing what their art is about...the great Gary Larson of the Far Side fame, comes to mind. He has this intimate, off-the-cuff thing that almost takes you to the washroom, (sorry, just kiddin).

I saw him perform at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester Mass in 1970. He was amazing, and the audience wanted him to play all night.

It seems like everybody was high in those olden, golden times, including in this instance the cameraman.

This was shot by a friend of Bill Graham's, not exactly professional, and then sycned with the soundboard of John's concert. Doesn't have the seamless editing of the others shows posted from Tanglewood 1970 (Miles Davis, The Who, Jethro Tull, Chicago), but we're lucky to have it nonetheless.

I saw him at Northeastern U on that tour. It was more like seeing him in a living room than a concert. He made you feel like that concert was special to him.

vid guy is a bit stoned... damn, really stoned.. old rock and roll heads.. yup that is for sure.. Son, son, son.. those were the days.. endless summers a time when work still interrupted life.. when hangin' out with friends was better than just about anything except camping with them or maybe a road trip.. no vid games, no social media, no cell phone.. just good friends, great adventures and good times.. oh yeah and for some of us it was "dragin' the gut" on friday night... But I think that was a west coast thing.. at least in the north west... thanks John! thanks for the memories now..
