People fail to realize that PTSD is considered a disability. We have to remember how to treat one another because u honestly don't know who u are doing something harmful to 🙏🏻 some people can't even go to work because of how cruel people are. These same people think they will never suffer consequences of their actions, especially on the internet. I am so happy to have found out about A.D.A.

*We Disableds should Boycott businesses & organizations that refuse to comply with ADA*

If a boycott like that could be organized, I know of several businesses that would suffer real bad

I wish the equality act of 2010 in the UK was more like this, we're getting denied benefits money based on not being categorised as disabled when we are, I'm autistic I was diagnosed as 3 and can't talk to people without anxiety I have undiagnosed ADHD and dysgraphia that was only ever diagnosed by my maths teacher, I will most likely be denied Benefits as did my friend who also has Autism, Asperger's and ADHD, I get denied jobs based on the fact I cannot maintain eye contact, It is ridiculous, when my parents die I'll end up homeless if laws and enforcement of those laws in the united kingdom doesn't change, yet all the conservative government care about is putting money into their own pockets and making sure only privileged rich people can get jobs, if there's a job shortage WHERE'S MY JOB?!

Those laws are not worth the recycled toilet paper that they are printed on if the only people around to enforce them do a halfhearted job at best of protecting those with disabilities from discriminatory practices on the part of an employer. I know this first hand as I have a disability. It does not impair my ability to perform the basic essential functions of an unskilled laborer's job for some blue collar employer. By law potential employers are not only required to provide REASONABLE accommodation for employees with disabilities (and I am talking VERY reasonable accommodation) but they also are supposed to provide reasonable accommodation during the application process just to get hired. That is impossible when applications must be done on computer (online or in store on the computer). Yet most mainstream employers have no real interest in fair hiring practices. If you dont believe me simply look at the wording on the most common job applications from employers to potential employees. Sometimes, there is no right way to answer questions, unless you dont want to get hired. You dont have to have a criminal record either to be adversely effected by these job applications and the way that they are structured. First off, most if not all job apps say, 'Any falsified statement or omission of facts is grounds for refusal to hire or termination of employment upon discovery.' Seems pretty fair huh? When asked on a job application to explain periods of unemployment, there was no way for me to evade the question without revealing the fact that I was hospitalized and under a doctor's care during a period of unemployment where i was instructed BY the doctor not to work during that stretch of time. I was discriminated against by FOUR major employers, not some mom and pop companies that only employ 3 people either. After explaining that I was ill at that time and under my doctors instructions NOT to work, I was told be these 4 employers that they would NOT hire me for that reason. When I brought this to the attention of the Americans with disabilities rights office, they informed me that I shouldn't have DISCLOSED such information UNTIL an offer of employment was made to me. Does that not constitute an omission of fact during the application process? It also says on many of these applications that incomplete applications would NOT be considered for an employment offer. I explained this to those bozos at the Americans with disabilities rights office and they offered NO answer for me or course of action that I should take! They also showed NO interest in helping me to find an employer who was willing to give someone like me a chance. This is what I and no doubt countless other disabled Americans go through when trying to obtain PART TIME employment to supplement our measly disability income, which isnt enough to live on as it is. When you tell a potential employer that you have a valid health condition that requires very little if any accommodation on their part, as per the supposed law, conjecture automatically kicks in. They believe that you have some physical ailment that prevents you from lifting more than 5lbs, or that if your condition is MENTAL that you are a raving, violent lunatic who is unsafe to be around REGARDLESS as to whether or not you even have a violent criminal history. Also, they judge at first glance and they are permitted and ENCOURAGED to do that. If you are not missing a limb, walking with a noticeable limp or in a wheelchair, they assume incorrectly that you have NO valid health condition mental or otherwise. They are permitted to practice such unfair hiring tactics because these employers know better than anyone what they can and cant get away with legally. They also know about the halfhearted, lazy employees who are SUPPOSED to protect and look out for people with a protected status, like a disability. It really makes me angry to hear about all these rights we have that NO one wants to enforce. I dont know, maybe they would rather have 2,000,000 people with disabilities drawing a check every month to stay home, instead of getting back on their feet, making a living and maybe having SOME kind of quality of life.

I’m currently in college studying special education ( yes I have a disability) should I or should I not put on my application that I’m disabled. The school I want to work for was the same school I graduated from.

@@nerdgeekcosplay909 Uh, yeah I would. I would never encourage anyone to lie or omit information that can come back and haunt you later. It puts you in an awkward position. I hope you get the job, but it will be interesting to see how they handle your request for employment.

@@nerdgeekcosplay909 When you check the box "Do you have any disability...?", especially when applying for local, state, or federal government jobs, they will make sure to invite you for an interview to make sure you won't accuse them of discriminating against your disability. However in general, under the ADA, an employer generally may not require an applicant to disclose information about a disability or medical impairment prior to making an offer of employment. Covered employers are not permitted to ask non-voluntary disability-related questions on a job application or during the hiring process.

There is a restaurant that I have been to that has a urinal so high I can"t use it, I am 5' 7". No rails on the wall to get up from pot. I contacted the DOJ online form: This is their response:
Team members from the Civil Rights Division reviewed the information you submitted. Based on our review, we have decided not to take any further action on your complaint. We receive several thousand reports of civil rights violations each year. We unfortunately do not have the resources to take direct action for every report.
They couldn't even send a letter to the restaurant saying that they have received a complaint!
