    Dr Berg notes:
Zinc is involved in 300 different enzymes and over 1000 factors related to DNA.
Zinc is involved in your sleep cycles, cognitive function, and making neurotransmitters. Having low zinc increases your risk of diabetes.
Zinc also makes up an important group of antioxidants involved with your brain, heart, and muscles. It even helps reduce oxidative stress involved with the mitochondria.
Instead of masking a symptom related to zinc deficiency or any other health issue, it's crucial to get to the deeper problem to help prevent further concerns. Learning how to support a healthy body and avoid health issues or recognize the early stages of one is much more simple than trying to fight a health problem.
Side effects of advanced zinc deficiency can include:
    • Loss of appetite
    • Necrosis
    • Ulcers
    • Hypogonadism
    • Low testosterone
    • Thymus atrophy
    • High cortisol
    • Muscle loss
The organ that is most affected by zinc deficiency is the pancreas. The most common early sign of zinc deficiency is foul-smelling stool that floats.
Other early signs of zinc deficiency include:
    • Shortness of breath upon exertion
    • Cramping
    • Diarrhea
    • Abdominal pain
    • Bloating
    Top causes of zinc deficiency:
    • Lack of zinc in the diet
    • Malabsorption
    • Inflammation in the gut
    • Phytates or phytic acid (grains)
    • Consuming sugar
    • Diabetes
    • Stress
    • Drinking alcohol
    • Infection
    Foods rich in zinc:
    1. Oysters
    2. Crab
    3. Other shellfish
    4. Meats
    5. Fish
    6. Nuts
    Thank you Dr Berg!

I'm reminded of the late African American PH D doctor, Dr Tim Morrow, who passed away several years back in his mid or late 80s. He began to study herbs and natural medicine when he had been battling prostate cancer for 5 years. He said Dr's spent 5 yrs trying to treat the prostate cancer and he said 1 day he heard a voice say, 'you need to take care of yourself'...so he began studying herbs and natural medicine at the library. He would often say in his videos which are right on TH-cam. 'It's not getting old that makes us sick. It's getting sick that makes us old'

Thanks for the tip about the original book from Sun Tzu: The technology of war. I had no clue about that. But as with many great works, they tend to be diluted at best, and worst case they get manipulated.
Also, the reference to that book is very clever in the bigger picture. About what is happening in the world in relation to knowledge and advice about health, nutrition and medicine.

I do try to have a balanced diet, many of the foods mentioned I do consume, I have also been taking Zinc supplements for a few years, but as you showed, the FDA doesn't allow you to say that it helps to prevent any disease, even though we all know the truth. @Dr. Eric Berg When I was lucky enough to find your channel I had gained 27 kilos without changing anything in my diet or exercising. I told my doctor but he didn’t believe me. I’ve been fit my whole life so I was devastated 😢. I started following your advice & I went directly to 2 meals per day in a 6 hour window so the Intermittent Fasting was 18 hours per day (actually it was 17 hours since I eat so slowly). I had my first meal at 2 pm & my second at 6 pm. The first week I lost 4 kilos & it only took 3 days for my cravings & hunger to go away. In less than 3 months I had lost 21 kilos 😃❣️ Thank you SO much Dr. Berg‼️ You are a life saver 👍🏼❣️♥️

I started taking zinc daily and I started to lose belly fat... no matter what I did except 4 hours of sauna a day with starving myself and working out, I could not lose belly weight unless I did all that every day.
Now I don't need to starve myself and do 4 hours of sauna a day. I can eat now. Because it was so easy for me gain especially on my belly and hard to lose, I went deeper and deeper into disordered eating, over exercise, etc. I don't have insulin resistance and when I ate, I ate keto and I intermittent fast, but since i have an ED, I was in a fasting state most of the time. I really had to do all that.
Turns out, all I needed was zinc. Blood tests did not show anything special except a bit higher estrogen levels, a bit lower thyroid levels, but Dr's weren't concerned. But I knew i was out of balance. It could be cortisol and just needing to optimize my hormones in general.
Then people tell me it's just about calories in and out, it's very frustrating. only people who live with me and saw how I gained weight and how I worked so hard to be thin understand and believed me. I could gain 10 klg in 10 days for no reason. Half of it was water, and felt so uncomfortable. So learning about hormones and zinc has saved me, maybe saved my life.

You need following to absorb Zinc into the tissues at a cellular level ::
    1. Active B6 - P5P
    2. Vit B12
    3. Magnesium
    4. Copper ! (intracellular Copper else you'd develop Zinc intolerance)
    5. Vit C
    6. Bioflavonoids such as Quercetin / Rutin / PAC's
    7. Certain aminos such as Taurine, lysine, argenine, methionine, BCAA etc that are also indirectly involved in Zinc finger protein synthesis.
Zinc synergies well with certain Amino acids such as Taurine, Methionine, Lysine, Argenine. Hence, Zinc is better consumed with B vitamins & aminos or still better a protein source.
Most natural dietry sources of zinc also have Copper. If you are deficient in copper , you'd totally mess up your Iron metabolism.
You must have Zinc & copper at seperate times and strive to maintain a 7.5 : 1 ratio. Imbalance in Zinc, copper ratio will create multiple health issues.
The Cu-Zn SOD is not activated & recycled effectively if you are running low on copper.
If you want Zinc, copper, aminos, B vitamins & all Zinc synergistic cofactors try carnivore diet esp offals ...or seafood !
All those videos advertising Zinc in nuts & Seeds are no good due to high presence of phytates in them which can bind Zinc at absorption site.

I used to get a cold and/or the flu at least once a year. Sometimes the flu twice a year. In an effort to gain relief from severe muscle cramps I looked into magnesium deficiency. Not truly believing what I was reading, I found a magnesium, calcium, and zinc concoction for cheap and decided to give it a try. Within two weeks, the cramps eased up dramatically, and most importantly, my cluster headaches went away. I later learned that magnesium and zinc are calming metals and decided to separate the three and only take the magnesium and zinc. Then, the covid scare took place about a year later, after which I noticed I hadn't come down with a cold or flu. Going on four years now, and I haven't had a cold or the flu. I credit the daily zinc capsule for that.
Should you decide to try adding zinc to your diet don't go in with the attitude of "if a little is good, a whole lot must be better." You can quickly give yourself metal fume fever by taking too much zinc at once. You will feel as though you've suddenly gotten the flu, but with a twist. In that case have some dairy. A glass of milk, or ice cream will get you right as rain in short order.

My Dad is 86, has been taking statins, diuretics, high blood pressure for the past 15 years probably. Dont take more than 10 miligrams of zinc supplement
"We present 3 cases of zinc-induced copper deficiency in which the diagnosis first was suggested on the basis of bone marrow examination. The first patient was a 47-year-old man with a debilitating peripheral neuropathy that had progressed during the previous 18 months, mild anemia, and severe neutropenia. The second was a 21-year-old man receiving zinc supplementation for acrodermatitis enteropathica in whom moderate normocytic anemia and neutropenia developed. The third patient was a 42-year-old man with anemia, severe neutropenia, and a peripheral neuropathy that had progressed during 8 months. The bone marrow findings in all cases suggested copper deficiency, which was confirmed by further laboratory testing and determined to be due to zinc excess."
