Swearing is a fansub thing. Japan doesn't have swears like we do, swears are just a way for subs to translate that they are speaking in a rude manner. Death has happened in PR before, though yes it is much more rare then in sentai(in which it's becoming less common as well, but it's still more frequent). In general I wouldn't say Sentai "treats it's audience like adults" because it doesn't. It's marketed to kids and it will always assume it's main audience is children(Abaranger tried to be an adult show and Abarekiller almost killed the franchise because of it). It's just that tokusatsu as a genre is so ingrained in Japanese culture, sentai, rider, and ultraman in particular, that writers can afford to be much more creative with their work without fear of losing funding, while here modern PR is ruled over with an iron fist over what it "should" be.
If they bring back PR they need to stop splitting seasons across 2 years, write for a broader audience while not making things from Super Sentai childish, lean into each season them, and make each season its own thing instead of trying to channel MMPR in anyway.
No "broader audience", thank you. "Modern" audience should stay away too, if possible... 😏😏😏 Just a less childish tone would already be a huge improvement, and, as you said, continuity. If it's good, success and fans will come/return.

Japan got Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, which had good character development, plenty of nods to previous seasons, and TONS of returning actors. Meanwhile, we Westerners got............ Anyways....
Super Sentai: After 35 years, they made seasonal reunions, TTFC (TOEI Tokusatsu Fan Club) exclusives, and the Super Hero Taisen Movies. On their 40th anniversary, they picked a goodwill ambassador, Hiroya Matsumoto(Tsubasa Ozu/MagiYellow and Masoto Jin/Beet Buster). Power Rangers: Never being an union-made IP for 30 years, a live tour that only lasted 94-95, a drastic drop of production in New Zealand for 20 years, ongoing burning of bridges due to low paychecks, decreasing seasonal crossovers, franchise fatigue because of shoving MMPR as their crown jewel, and no veterans ever stepped in to be the IP's representative cuz that might damage their reputation in Hollywood.
That is why I don't bother with people who claim that one series is better than the other. Both have good points, and you can be a fan of both, without comparing them. I do wish Super Sentai was as popular around the globe as Power Rangers is, and distributed to more countries; I also wish Power Rangers could give more room to teams other than Mighty Morphin, as Super Sentai does.
Power rangers Good thing: Inspired and captivated generations of kids and stayed with them to adulthood Bad thing: how it always seems to piss on it's own legacy and even sentai counter part in some cases (looking at you megaforce/super megaforce)
I don't think megaforce super megaforce is as bad as anyone thinks. Just meh and felt rushed but with some okish ranger action. Battle the legendary battle is awful that I think that should split into 2 part, leaving the actual team up as part 2 making it longer
@@Wats_Plays it has it's moment like seeing the late tommy o, karone, Dana, Carter, Jayden, Emily, Mike, Leo, Casey, and Wes and Damon but not even them can save the legendary battle

Honestly as a big fan of PR and now being a toku fan I definitely prefer Super Sentai over PR cause of the differences between both shows, with more episodes the crossovers and movies especially seeing Gokaiger and what Super Megaforce could’ve been even with the fact that Megaforce and it’s Sentai equivalent Goseiger there’s just a satisfying difference between everything
Technically the power rangers concept started with Stan Lee who saw and loved sun Vulcan. He pitched the idea but no studio wanted was interested. Years later saban pitched the same idea, only this time one of Stan lee’s partners now ran a studio, remembered Stan lee’s pitch and agreed to take on the task. Super sentai is also part of the marvel multiverse with battle fever J. Though it’s now a defunct marvel universe
I watched Power Rangers religiously when it first aired from MM to the end of In Space. I was obsessed as a kid. The first ever video game I ever beat was MMPR for the SNES, which I got for my 5th birthday(It sparked my love for gaming which in turn is what had me go into IT for a career). I remember being the Black Ranger for Halloween and still keeping (and sometimes wearing ) the costume for at least another year. The end of Turbo gutted me as a kid and I still remember being kept up at night as a kid excited for the premiere of In Space(and man, that season really delivered). Even as corny as the shows writing was, it was definitely my first long running series that hooked me, and sparked a love for martial arts, anime, etc. I'm in my 30s now, and one of the best feelings was finding out my wife was a huge fan of the series as well(apparently she had a huge crush on the Red Space Ranger), and that my three girls really enjoyed watching episodes of MM and in Space on Netflix when I introduced them to it. I can definitely say Super Sentai is the better series objectively(and I plan to figure out a way to start from the beginning and watch each series(or as many as possible) but you'll never hear a bad thing about PR from me, and that's even without watching the later seasons(I heard good things about later seasons, and I did catch some episodes of later seasons up until the late 00's, but at that point I had gotten into anime and video games and girls and PR had more or less fallen off for me.)
the biggest difference is that Power ranger recently filled with corporate money hungry people thus making their legacy and decision lackluster for the fans while sentai producer still love their products so much despite similarly money hungry
Agreed. The people behind PR nowadays only see the franchise as easy way to get money, especially via MMPR nostalgia. I don't think they have any love or effort to make the franchise grow, while on Sentai side, you know the people behind it, not only seeing the franchise as money making machine but also really love the franchise. You can see the different between them like how lame and low effort they make Super Megaforce or Cosmic Fury compared to Gokaiger and all the v-cinext Sentai had, where you can see the effort from the producer, actor and even fans to make all that happened

15:01 Ron Wasserman should have been involved in every season, be as rich as Max Martin and be living in a house on the topmost of a hill. There I said it he's a goat
A lot of long term investment is done in super sentai, both monetarily as well as in stories etc, but power rangers, at least after Disney seems to be a money grabbing exercise. Even if a season of SS does not do well, they come back in next season, but nothing in PR. SS has an integration with KR and have movies, which keeps the audience interested even if the season is not doing well.
Shout Factory only has a very limited number of shows, same with Shout Factory's Kamen Rider selection, they have a much larger selection of Ultraman shows. Toei isn't all that interested in brining Sentai and Rider outside of Japan, unlike Tsuburaya which does have an interest in expanding out of Japan.
Power rangers is awesome because it brought sentai to the west, and sentai is cool because well it is the original power rangers show. The negatives of power rangers is that it is a bit dumb downed for kids (for the most part) and super sentai can be a bit jarring to western audiences. (Edit) Only made this comment cause it was a command

Power rangers need to focus on each season having their own team rather than hey new power ups to another suit or zords. If they followed that pattern, a better gokaiger version of PR would have existed with the many cameos. Sadly there are too many rangers who had multiple forms.
The think i love Super sentai is how they're never run out of ideas when making a theme for the next seasons, most of them are creatives and sometimes out of the box like Zenkaiger and Donbrothers Meanwhile Power Rangers still Stuck in the "a sitcom high schooler Teenager finds a powers, and become a hero" plots Still, i must admit that Disney Era make Power rangers better
More episodes, more blood, more slang, and more casual ecchi adult humor. It’s weird America got crazy reality shows and games shows nowadays on par with Japan. Pr decides not age up their show like many other cartoons and live action sitcom drama cater to the same audience. They’re not protecting their audiences since nowadays TH-cam violence and news are worse than the 90s. Parents used to complain about how mmpr like mortal combat video games back then is too violent and zedd is too scary.
13:04 Even after all this time, I still LOVE how stupid that scene looks. The Omega Ranger catching that hail storm of *L A S E R* Bullets and having them just casually clatter and bounce on the ground will never NOT be funny.
Another thing i didn’t like what power rangers did is that they changed up the gimmicks of the morphers, turbo for example would make sense if their morpher were starting up like a car (similar to carranger), lost galaxy turning the dial as they say go galactic, or if the beast morphers morpher actually said in go-buster fashion “It’s morphin time” and the rangers said “lets morph” rather than “let’s morphin” from go-busters
23:48 Not only them. Just as Leif Erikson came to America before Christopher Columbus, Super Sentai (and other Tokusatsu shows) came to the american continent before Power Rangers appeared. Back in 1992, Liveman was aired on TV fully dubbed. Then came Flashman and Changeman. Now the first toku hero in latinamerica was Ultraman, back in 1969 and then in 1977 Ultra seven.
As much as I respect and love Super Sentai, my heart is with Power Rangers. The first season of Sentai I watched was Dairanger, first thing I realized was how different the two shows can be even if they're relying on the same footage. Hope Power Rangers falls in the hands of people who have the love that the fans got for it and are willing to treat it like it deserves.
I feel that a main problem with power rangers, is that it can’t really change its tone. It’s stuck in the “only for kids” trap many toku characters end up when they come to America. Yes, most Tokusatsu is aimed at children, but we shouldn’t ignore the genuinely good stories that come from these shows
Yes and no, Super Sentai isn't exactly something to be considered for adults, it's introductory to adult themes if anything, and most seasons are for kids not allowed to get too dark, as Inoue planned to have a scene where Kijino had a mental breakdown(It can be seen in previews) but Toei told him it'd be too dark and so removed it.
Good: super sentai has been around so long that they inspired and helped by famous creators dragon ball, sailor moon, one punch man, and Stan Lee who helped and inspired them to make some themes funnier and interesting Bad: in some cases there would have bad or boring for some people within the episode and show in couple super sentai Good: in power rangers they have a couple good ones that super sentai never got like crossover from dc and Godzilla, has better comics, and had cool ideas that even Toku inspired there ideas like the armor mode and sprite rangers Bad: powers rangers had like a couple bad or missed hits that only focused mmpr and they have been disrespectful with super sentai which they helped on sets, weapons, monsters sets and story writing.
Good thing about super sentai: the team ups are great. Good thing about pr: the themes are good. Bad thing about super sentai: this might just be me but memorizing japanese names can be hard. bad thing about pr: the anniversaries are hit or miss.
PR themes went downhill after Jungle Fury, it's all been just "Go Go Power Rangers" remixes since then, where as Sentai themes are always consistently great.
The Greatest reason for Sentai and Power Ranger’s popularity is due in part to the Internet. The Community and Crosscultural pollination has allowed for these two Sibling shows to spawn great Things! Some seasons Borrow from each other, while one can improve one element over a another!
Let's focus on Death for a second. There's a LOT of death in PRIME super sentai, usually the most realistic aspect of the shows, there, characters don't just pass away, They DIE in the most dramatic meaning of the word.
@@MiXVoy Some deaths happen because of the actor(Namely either Flash Yellow or Bio Yellow), and sometimes the death are done for mind-numbingly reasons to sell toys(Like Nada in the atrocity that is Ryusoulger).
I do like both honestly! I do think super sentai did better with drama and seriousness when it’s not afraid to show blood and swearing even if it’s a little kids movie I think. And power rangers I still love the songs and it does have some darker moments like time force, but it does have a franchise kids and adults to love the power rangers But again I love both super sentai and power rangers!
Super Sentai Good - The number of times you see it referenced in Anime. (Ex Arifureta Shokugyou de Sakai Saikyou Season 3, Episode 2) Bad - Sometimes having a new crew every year causes exhaustion as it’s new “toys”, costumes, and McGuffins every year. Power Rangers Good - It allows kids in America to get a glimpse of Japanese media. Bad - Super Sentai series/movies/crossovers/anniversaries means more content than Power Rangers.
Nice respectful video for both franchise. Maybe it’s the nostalgic speaking, but the music stand out more in the early days. Do new fans even like the remix for the newer seasons? There are serialize seasons after the original mmpr team era starting with space. Time force is especially have the to be continue next week while newer season you can miss an episode without remembering it. Unlike America, Japan doesn’t do broadcast syndication for prime time anime and drama from either morning or night. It’s always new episode, so back then it’s impossible to see a missed episode without rental or purchasing the vhs or dvd. You have to respect the Japanese cast more since the paid is just as low, but more filming work from movies to special to stage shows and many other promotional activities like multiple press conferences and interviews.

That's kamen rider
the one season about literal samurai and they couldn't even get an asian actor for the red ranger lmao. "Jayden Shib" to this day is crazy to me
If they bring back PR they need to stop splitting seasons across 2 years, write for a broader audience while not making things from Super Sentai childish, lean into each season them, and make each season its own thing instead of trying to channel MMPR in anyway.
That split between two sub seasons was Nick's fault tho
@@GeovaneSanciniSR they kept it when they went to Netflix
No "broader audience", thank you. "Modern" audience should stay away too, if possible... 😏😏😏
Just a less childish tone would already be a huge improvement, and, as you said, continuity.
If it's good, success and fans will come/return.
@@etherealdragon207because season 1 of Dino Fury was already shot for Nickelodeon. Netflix just picked up where it left off. And to be honest had Netflix continued with power rangers it would have been shorter since they like their content to be 10 episodes or less per season.

I’ve been teaching TaeKwonDo for a couple decades (I got into it in 1985, so before Power Rangers) and one of the things I’ve noticed is when a new season debuted a bunch of kids/adults would sign up, because “How hard can it be, they do it on Power Rangers”, and they don’t last a month…

Gokaiger is a supreme example of what Power Rangers can't, cementing its legacy. Then Este said something contrary out to pity.
🕎Cuts have to be made to save money.
@@dansmith1661One of the many reasons why PR hasn't yet been nominated for a Golden Globe or an Emmy, since Time Force for Sound Mixing.
I truly prefer super sentai musical scoring because it has more depth and emotions.
Power rangers
Good thing: Inspired and captivated generations of kids and stayed with them to adulthood
Bad thing: how it always seems to piss on it's own legacy and even sentai counter part in some cases (looking at you megaforce/super megaforce)
Finally, the right statement while saying “piss”😤
I don't think megaforce super megaforce is as bad as anyone thinks. Just meh and felt rushed but with some okish ranger action. Battle the legendary battle is awful that I think that should split into 2 part, leaving the actual team up as part 2 making it longer
@@leonardolim8976 I agree with what you say on that but compared to Gokaiger it is nowhere near as good as that

Power ranger:
Good thing: A pretty interesting world building
Bad thing: WASTED POTENTIAL
0:12 No, I’m pretty sure that’s Transformers.
Somewhere I have a McDonalds Power Ranger toy. In 1995 they did a Morpher with 3 coins, each coin had 2 images on the front and back, to equal 6 rangers.
I wish the no connection requirement wasn't a thing
Yeah. At least now it seems that there are some more "continuous" themes, but we only got to have a taste before waiting for the reboot.
Sorry bro but not reading all that
the biggest difference is that Power ranger recently filled with corporate money hungry people thus making their legacy and decision lackluster for the fans while sentai producer still love their products so much despite similarly money hungry
@@vinzseika9826 True about Toei, but when it comes from Kamen Riders it's a money hungry from toei like they make anniversary of Kamen rider 10th and 20th anniversary of heisei and they still don't know how to write a story meanwhile making super sentai they know how to write a story

The dumbing down seems to be from recent seasons. The earlier ones were pretty solid storyline.

Even after all this time, I still LOVE how stupid that scene looks.

Not only them.
7:14 that 16mm film looks so gooooooood
nah some movies are canon in Super Sentai like a continuation
I feel that a main problem with power rangers, is that it can’t really change its tone. It’s stuck in the “only for kids” trap many toku characters end up when they come to America. Yes, most Tokusatsu is aimed at children, but we shouldn’t ignore the genuinely good stories that come from these shows
It's a consequence of focusing the IP first and foremost as a toy commercial.
Good: super sentai has been around so long that they inspired and helped by famous creators dragon ball, sailor moon, one punch man, and Stan Lee who helped and inspired them to make some themes funnier and interesting
Bad: in some cases there would have bad or boring for some people within the episode and show in couple super sentai
Good: in power rangers they have a couple good ones that super sentai never got like crossover from dc and Godzilla, has better comics, and had cool ideas that even Toku inspired there ideas like the armor mode and sprite rangers
Bad: powers rangers had like a couple bad or missed hits that only focused mmpr and they have been disrespectful with super sentai which they helped on sets, weapons, monsters sets and story writing.
i learn power ranger when i watch akibaranger when kid i watch many japan shows and anime

Here's another difference power rangers is not airing anymore yet super Sentai is getting ready for its next season
Let's focus on Death for a second. There's a LOT of death in PRIME super sentai, usually the most realistic aspect of the shows, there, characters don't just pass away, They DIE in the most dramatic meaning of the word.
Sentai deaths had meaning and a status quo. Power Rangers just resolved death like a phoenix.

I do like both honestly! I do think super sentai did better with drama and seriousness when it’s not afraid to show blood and swearing even if it’s a little kids movie I think. And power rangers I still love the songs and it does have some darker moments like time force, but it does have a franchise kids and adults to love the power rangers

Super Sentai
Good - The number of times you see it referenced in Anime. (Ex Arifureta Shokugyou de Sakai Saikyou Season 3, Episode 2)
Bad - Sometimes having a new crew every year causes exhaustion as it’s new “toys”, costumes, and McGuffins every year.
Power Rangers
Good - It allows kids in America to get a glimpse of Japanese media.
Bad - Super Sentai series/movies/crossovers/anniversaries means more content than Power Rangers.
I love both of them, but PR is way more catered to kids, while SS is catered to kids as well it is more darker and less juvenile.
I have nothing to add, but 21:27 is that Indonesian sub-title??? Este is Indonesian???
The biggest difference is that Super Sentai isn't dead because the owner of the property killed it...
Too soon?
2 Good thing about power rangers (*personally) :
they hot good taste of iconic sound effects like mhorping, demhorp, helmet off, teleports, and many2 more...
The ost of power rangers also really hit good sometime... Like the mhorping ost during PRDF mhorp...
2 Bad thing about power rangers : they're too into dino rangers theme and nostalgia thing about mmpr almost every season...
Also they split 1power rangers season into 2 season after neo saban era until now...with huge gap long break until people can lost their interest in it...
I just wish that power rangers maintained a storyline all the way through, such a missed opportunity
Hey, not sure if you know, but there is a channel called Mr Beard that seems to have stolen/re-uploaded some of your content. (Literally just pointing a camera at an old phone playing your video(s).)
Can you make a video on Gransazer, Justirizer, Sazer x and Ultraman series
Super Sentai is also in the same universe. They don't reference other seasons much and there are some contradictions but it's still in the same universe. There are only few times there have been multiple universes. There have been multiple in show crossovers which treats most Super Sentai being in the same universe.
Correction: 45 of them are set in the same universe, meanwhile kyuranger, zenkaiger, and king-ohger are completely separate but at least in king-ohger they explained how to get there and we’ll find out soon in King-Ohger In Space.
PR having the Morphin Grid is a cheap excuse for having a multiverse, and the New Powers from Super Megaforce is proof of that.
Ngl I appreciate how Super Sentai embraces darker themes and doesn't talk down to it's audience, but given how I grew up and starter with Power Rangers and consuming shows is much easier when the language is universal as opposed to having to read subtitles, I'ma always be a Power Rangers kinda guy over Super Sentai all day everyday
It's either you are too dumb to read AKA never heard of "rewinding" or dyslexia.
A good thing about power ranger is it made who i am i grew up watching it and it help me develop into a semi normal kid it also introduced me to super senatai, kamen rider, and Ultraman. A bad thing about power ranger is the wasted potential ex super megaforce. For super sentai a good thing is the character development and back story and the bad thing is the newer season can be a bit too childish for me now.
(I feel old but im not old i think its because toku has been around for so long.)
Try Donbrothers, one of sentai season about out-of-context and broken mentality, nothing childish. Also LuPat and King-Ohger.
Honestly, I'd like to see their dubbing, too... (My think: No, why did I suddenly think like this!?)
RW:you know speaking of PR/SS este ,do you think that you can talk about power rangers monsters and even ss monsters when they want to either redeem themselves ,those who dont want to fight the rangers atall or to be friends instead of enemies cause ive seen that a few times and even believe it or not sometimes even turning over a new leaf and saving people when we least expect it ?
15:22 Tubi has the sentai shows. I’ve been watching for months now
20:27 that mask collection was a popular collectible item, but most of mask collection line consist of Kamen Rider. it even have light up gimmick. But IDK if Bandai still produce it in nowadays since Bandai focus on collectible item related to the transformation and zord

McDonald’s did have a light speed rescue happy meal toys. Half was the 6 rangers, and the other half had the train zords with the smaller zords. And before that for the mmpr movie, they had all 6 ranger figures with zords
Some Sentai scenes have some risque scenes like in Goseiger when the Pink and Yellow rangers lost their tops when the megazord began to spin out of control, Power Rangers could never.
Summer Episodes were a no-no for PR, especially when at the beach
Power Rangers SPD definitely had a cooler look to Anubis Cruger. Apparently the producers and writers thought he looked too much like a furry in sentai. One thing I do hope for (even though it’s super unlikely) is a crossover with a sentai team and their American counterparts.
Longest running TV show? No, General Hospital, WWE Raw, The Simpsons
Spongebob and Days of Our Lives too.
One of the longest running, also The simpsons haven't reached 1,000 episodes, way past pokemon, one piece, Detective Conan, also here in america.
@@marshallw1902Pokemon, One piece and Conan is japanese not american
ONE of the longest running TV shows
@@GGX120and as a trivia, the longest running anime with the most number of episodes is Sazae-san. It started airing in the 1960's, and now has around 8000+ episodes. And it's still ongoing. Last year, the voice actress of Sazae chan passed away.
I love both shows and wish we could watch more super sentai here. At least have a streaming service with them.
From mighty morphin to rpm with the exception of most of operation overdrive the stories were amazing and had you invested, once samurai was announce for adaptation i was interested but was instantly turned off it because they just reused “Go Go Power rangers” for the opening theme than having a japanese themed intro and it became an ongoing problem when the next seasons also reused it too
In mighty morphin season 1
- the black ranger was black
- the yellow ranger was asian
- the red ranger was american
Damm,we have been racist all these time
They weren’t racist it was a coincidence and plus Walter e jones liked black
Could have been worse with a native american( " red skin " ) as the red ranger.
12:03 what season of Super Sentai and Power Rangers was that?
Timeranger/Time Force
@@ldiod4374 I still need to finish TimeRanger. I stopped after like episode 6 or 7
Also the Ending exercises are more of tradition nowadays but originally Super Sentai showa are Morning shows i believe it's a regulation like Radio Taisō soo broo stop glazing on power ranger and shitting in Super Sentai
Cuz PR executives want mindless action, not daily exercises for the kids
@@MiXVoy man I miss the old Power Rangers
No debate is needed, Super Sentai will always be FAR superior to power rangers. no disrespect to power rangers actor.. super Sentai has deep meaning individually.
Giant monsters attacking the city, good thing it’s Sunday, those buildings were gonna be filled up tomorrow.
With power rangers right now having the rockiest and almost non-existent future so far. I wish that toei could release all seasons of ss for streaming or at least a somewhat cheap Blu ray release. Yes I know Shout media has it for streaming, but it's no where close to all of them
Basically sentai is obi-wan
Pr is anakin
Aney- Hes holding me back!
