    I have always wondered how you get your wheelchair into the car after you have transferred so I can’t wait for the video

    Just paused your video, mid demo, went on Amazon and ordered a car cane, and came back to finish the video. Thank you! You're brilliant

    Thank you for the info re; the car cane! This is going to be a tremendous help!!!

    I need one of these. I'm short, as well as mobility limited (I use a walker) and use a stool to get into a car but I still need assistance for that "extra push". This would be great and potentially eliminate that need.

      yeah sounds like it could really help. Let me know how you get on. :)

      Ahh. I found this video again. I've had my cane for a good month and love it. While it's in an awkward position to help me get in, it's absolutely fantastic for getting out of the van. No more worrying about pulling my shoulder from getting my elbow pinned back as I slide out! That's a win for me. Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful tool.

      Hey Hannah. Im so glad that it helped you. Once you have the knack and play around with it, its really helpful. My aunt has brought one for my uncle who loves it too. :)

    Thank you so much! New Subscriber after watching your video today. I can walk well on most days but have ruptured disks, a million types of arthritis in my hips, degenerative disk disease that is catching up with me, so I have trouble doing some things, and one of them is getting out of a car. The car cane is my answer! I hope the company sponsors you! Looking forward to catching up on your videos and watching new ones as well. You are my blessing.

    i LOVE my RADAR key, and recommend them to anyone who has mobility issues or other conditions. I also always have at least £10 on me where ever I go in case of emergencies. Love the concept for the car cane!!

    I have my radar key on a extendable cord broach clip, you get them for passes and ID cards. That means I never have to detach it from my bag, so I can’t leave it behind or loose it. You could also use a lanyard in a similar way. I just wish that they would stop putting the sanitaryware bins right next to the toilet as it makes it so much harder to turn and transfer. Our local hospital does the same in their disabled loos that are also so small they only fit small manual wheelchairs. Our hospital only thinks you deserve a accessible loo for bigger powered chairs if you are an inpatient! After all people in power chairs don’t need to pee on outpatient visits! Lols

    • @Wheelsnoheels
      @Wheelsnoheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know exactly what you are talking about. Its the same with out hospital. they have "accessible toilets" But you can't fit a wheelchair in!!!! I can hardly fir in, and there is no turning circle. (and my chair is really small.) who on earth thought that one though!!! x

    • @ecologist_to_be
      @ecologist_to_be 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Real Mythril we don't need to pee as all of us have cathetor bags we can empty down a drain outside lol

      Wheelsnoheels - Gem Hubbard one toilet where I used to live by time my chair was in there was zero floor space or transfer space to get onto actual toilet lol

    Did you get round to doing the wheelchair in and out thing? The ones I've seen on youtube are all with bigger american cars. Fortunately I don't need it at the moment as my walking is stable enough to get from the boot to the front door. I've seen those car canes before, but hadn't worked out how they worked, but now I can get one, though I'm having a good patch so getting in and out of the car isn't as much struggle as it sometimes is - what I really hate is the sportier seats you get in some cars so you have a big ridge to climb over.

    I wish they would have those bathroom keys in the US. Everyone uses the HC stalls and disabled people are often left waiting...and waiting for able bodied people, strollers etc to let us use them.
    I wonder if the car cane would work for me? Like you said, as a person with a high injury it may not. You can also assist your transfers by moving your legs, which I cannot (T2 complete). I also use a transfer board and transfer blocks to help lift myself higher. I have skin issues and recently had surgery to close a stage IV on my butt so I try to avoid skin shear whenever I can. Anyway, it might be in the way when I get in and out of the car. I also can’t leave my feet in. I have to put them out first when getting out of the car, and put them in last when getting in the car. It feels too awkward to transfer any other way. I feel like I have no control and will fall.

    • @Wheelsnoheels
      @Wheelsnoheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I love the radar key. It sound like the car cane may be more of a hindrance than a help. That was my feeling when I was playing around with it. Next time I use it, Ill put my legs in first and see how I get on. x

    I had to learn to transfer in the hospital before I was allowed to leave!!! But I had my disability happen later in life!!!

    Hey. What's in my videos are always interesting. Here in Australia RADAR keys are called MLAK keys (Master Locksmith Access KEy). It's an essential when traveling or after councils locks toilets up the night.

    Very interesting information...some very useful devices...I've often wondered if you do weight training exercises for upper body to enable your ability to transfer? Great vid as always, be strong and be well. ♥

    This car cane looks amazing! Ordering it on amazon right now!
    I always have this in my bag: www.wopeeh.nl/english/index.php. Works only if you can still stand, but helps a lot when there is no disabled toilet, and the normal toilet is too low for me to stand up from. Or if there is a disabled toilet, but it's just to disgusting to sit on the seat :)
