This speaks volumes for the character of Steve Miller. Quality way to honor a magnificent human being.

Les Paul was actually Steve's godfather.

Near the end of college, my parents said, 'Steve, what are you going to do?' I said, 'I want to go to Chicago and play the blues.' My father looked at me like I was insane. But my mom said, 'You should do it now.' So I went to Chicago. And that was a special time. I played with Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. I got to work with adults and realized music was what I wanted to do, what I loved.

Since nobody else has mentioned it. Les and his wife Mary Ford were close friends with Steve's parents, who were best man and matron of honor at Les & Mary's wedding. Les is Steve's Godfather.

Love this. Love Les and Steve forever. So, Les Paul is Steve Miller's Godfather? I see that as both a blessing and a curse for Steve. Thanks, you just blew my mind.

Well I've been 2atching and Les is a little catty with everyone. But i got a little offended at the way Steve was treating him. I thought it must of been some sort of joke. I love Les Paul and Steve Miller band equally. I just always go for the underdog.

Les is such a great artist, it's obvious that his arthritis has crippled his ability to play even the most basic chords. This man in his prime was untouchable. What dedication and love he has, this is what makes him so great. RIP Les...

What an exceptional jam!! I was very surprised that Mr. Les Paul invited Steve Miller to a jam session of this stature. I was hoping they'd play at least one of Steve's "little great songs", but no... they let me down on that. Despite that, I was surprised to discover this side of Steve I was not fully aware of. 👋👋👋

Steve Miller is the real deal, right at the birth of rock n roll. T bone Walker showed him how to play along with Les at his house growing up. Most white artists learnt from records, Steve learnt from them in person.

Here's an interesting fact about Les Paul as recorded in Wikipedia:
"In January 1948, Paul shattered his right arm and elbow among multiple injuries in a near-fatal automobile accident on an icy Route 66 west of Davenport, Oklahoma. Mary Ford was driving the Buick convertible, which plunged off the side of a railroad overpass and dropped twenty feet into a ravine. They were returning from Wisconsin to Los Angeles after visiting family.[25] Doctors at Oklahoma City's Wesley Hospital told Paul that they could not rebuild his elbow. Their other option was amputation. Paul was flown to Los Angeles, where his arm was set at an angle-just under 90 degrees-that allowed him to cradle and pick the guitar. It took him nearly a year and a half to recover."
