    WW2 zombie AI is the best in the series. I love how you can really manoeuvre around them without getting hit multiple times and if you fire them with your gun they get stunned for a moment allowing you to slip by without taking a possible fatal hit.
    Zombies seriously needs to innovate in ways like this in regards to how the player engages with the zombies themselves without having to make 8 different special zombies to supplement the gameplay.

    The thing I dislike the most about the zombies community is this weird obsession with having remakes / remasters. Why do people get so excited to have a map they've played 1000 times again rather than a brand new experience? Will never understand that.

      Well in the case of something like BO3, it was about experiencing those old maps on a much better engine.
      Plus it's nice to have a bunch of maps all on one game. Kinda like how people care about backwards compatibility.

      Whenever it's a fresh take on a map it's great, for example Classified is a completely unique take on Five. However most of the time they just end up worse than the original, why would I play Ascension on Bo3 when it's already in Bo1

      Honestly I'd rather have a reimagining of maps similar to how Die Maschine handled it. There's a lot of maps that have a really interesting premise that are kind of hindered because of their size/design. It would give a sense familiarity but also improve upon them.

    Grief was such a missed opportunity for Cold War because the game having 2 prominent factions going toe to toe was there.
    Outbreak could've had Grief as mode where 4 players are on Requiem, and 4 players on Omega Group competing to complete objectives with some PvP elements thrown in to add some tension with the experience.
    It makes me so mad everytime I think about it

    My hot take is that the the BO3 Easter Eggs kinda don’t really make sense (in my opinion) and are overrated.
    DE: We’re there to get Dempsey’s soul. He lands in the map before the boss fight and before we blow up the moon. Like why are the boss fight and moon thing necessary if Dempsey is laying right there already. Maybe there’s story things I’m not remembering that explain the boss fight and blowing up the moon but doing those things shouldn’t be necessary to press a button on the pod.
    ZNS: All these steps around the map just to fix an elevator? Like I’m doing these random steps just for a few cogs to fix an elevator? I understand it leads to the boss fight and gives you a great camping spot but this hidden quest just helps you become a repairman, without really diving into Takeo’s story at all (the cutscene does that).
    GK: Again, all these random quests just to please AI Sophia to give us a battery. Sophia’s inclusion was such a cool surprise and she just makes you do random things to just get a battery. Again, yes it starts the boss fight and such, but all these difficult steps and the payoff is a battery?
    Not every map’s Easter egg is perfect or spectacular. But in Mob for example, although it’s short and easy, you get more lore in the steps and has a very unique ending (fighting each other). Origins has these grand steps where you’re fighting to get freedom.
    I just wish that the BO3 Easter eggs delved into each character’s story a bit more DURING the steps, rather than just the cutscene. Like instead of “here’s random steps to unlock a small part to repair something” we learn about each character’s journey and get some meaningful payoff for learning about the characters before killing their alternate selves. Like GK and ZNS’ steps have nothing to do with who Nikolai and Takeo actually are. There’s just a big disconnect for me.

      Der einsendrache’s cutscenes were horrible and had the worst story the intro was weird and i wanted to see ultimis dempsey do badass shit like ultimis nikolai did but he died while sleeping wow

    • @joshuacapron8358
      @joshuacapron8358 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well to be fair, a big part of the storyline and lore for Der Eisendrache was about Dr Groph from Griffin Station on the Moon noticing the actions of Primis and threatening to destroy them for disrupting his plans, so Primis ended up having to resurrect that Keeper and teleport it to the Moon so that it could kill all of Groph's allies and disable his tech on the station, only for it to become corrupted by the MPD and thus lead into the boss fight. Then blowing up the Moon was ensuring that Groph was dead and couldn't come after Primis anymore.
      But I do 100% agree that those ee's in general just felt like so much tedious busywork without any real diving into or fleshing out of the characters that they were supposed to revolve around. It felt like such missed opportunities where we could have been shown more about these characters aside from what's gleaned from the throwaway jokes and other dialogue they spout off randomly during games. With the steps themselves, at least with other maps like the ones you mentioned and I'd add Call of the Dead, Shangri-la, and the Victis maps in bo2, there was more grounded purpose behind what you were doing and why. Each step directly and logistically led to the outcome of the ee without much of irrelevancy added to it for padding. I do wish that more maps had more sensible and purposeful structures like that for their ee steps.

    My hot take:
    Cold War is the best option to get new players into zombies
    1.Since most cods are still full price, if you wanna get the full zombies experience for other games, you’ll be paying around $100 or more to have the games and all the dlcs but since cold wars dlc is free, all you have to do is pay for the base game and then you’ll have all the zombies maps for free
    2. It’s not that hard to survive/play the game. Since in any other game before you’d only have 5 hits at most and the zombies were a lot harder to deal with, it’s very easy for a new comer to die over and over and most likely rage quit and give up on the game. But since the mechanics are so easy in CW, they’re less likely to die and rage quit and get more invested into it. Theres a lot of people who have gotten their first round 100 or completed they’re first Easter egg in CW because it’s a lot easier than any other game
    3.The Storyline isn’t that hard to understand and get into. Sure it’s not as in depth as the games before it, but trying to have someone understand things like multiversal shenanigans, multiple timelines, alternate versions of characters, alternate dimensions, broken cycles, etc. would make a new players head explode. It might not be that complicated for us to understand since we’d been following it as is was going on but new players are basically getting 10 years of storyline all at once and don’t have as much time to process and understand what everything means. But cold wars story is very straight forward and not hard to understand
    4. Maps are a lot easier to understand. As great as maps like shadows of evil or origins are. Someone who has never played those maps will have no idea where to even start or what to do to actually be able to play the maps. But since the Cold War maps basically hold your hand through the entire setup, it’s a lot easier to get of grasp of how map progression/setup works
    Once someone is invested enough into Cold War, then you can use that as a jumping point to go to other games and give new players a better storyline and maps if they love it enough. If they don’t like Cold War then they probably won’t like any of the other games. Sure we all love the WaW- Bo3 and want everyone else to but trying to get a new player into them is a lot to ask

    41:41 I hate when people complain about the Cold War hud because you can turn off different parts of your choice. Don’t like damage numbers? Turn them off. Don’t like the map? Turn it off. They told us about that before they even released the game

    • @Xpertfusion
      @Xpertfusion  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You are wrong though.
      You can't turn off the mini-map in Cold War, like at all. That is not a choice in the settings.
      You can turn off the damage numbers, that's true. But that doesn't fix the HUD at all. There's still the annoying medal pop-ups (that can't be turned off), and the WORST part of the HUD which is the +100 zombie elimination pop-ups (that can't be turned off)
      Even if you could turn all of this off, first impressions are important, and most of it should be off by default, but as I said, you can't turn most of it off.

    Take 1: Zombies needs to look and feel more like it did back in the BO1 days. Zombies is supposed to be like a post-apocalyptic world, rundown, dark and spooky. These new graphics choices have gone away from what zombies was originally created to be.
    Take 2: They need to return to the roots of early zombies games, and re-innovate from that point.
    Explanation: The game Innovation seems to have been very sporadic for a long time. When they first innovated zombies, it was adding simple cool things to the game like perks, storyline, and slowly easter eggs or other cool things you can find in the map over time. Now they are creating entirely new game modes in an effort to make something completely new, almost like a rebrand. At least in the COD industry, that has been a failed way of innovating.
    Innovation is good. It's what makes buyers want to buy something new, and gets us excited for what is next. Let me be clear that it is not innovation that I am against, but the direction that innovation has gone. Imagine Activision is in a forest paving a path for hikers. Activision needs to hike back where they came from and pave a new trail...one that offshoots from the path they laid up to 2010.
    What are your thoughts?

      well call of duty is made for kids nowadays, clearly the target audience of cod has shifted. the old cods felt like they were aiming for a young adult or teen player base, so the game could be more mature, and harder as well. back then kids did play the game ofc I was one of them lol, but that WAS the appeal to me, that I was playing a "grown up" game. the newer cods feel embarrassing to play as a adult, like IW onward feel like kiddy games more or less, and the side game modes make all these accommodations for less skilled players that make it shitty.

    As a game developer, I believe there are many aspects to what made the original zombies experience legendary.
    Constraints: as a game dev, we learn the importance of constraints to the player to improve the horror factor and immersion. Consider the player's speed in MWZ and recent zombie games and compare it to the OG zombies games. There is 0 reprocussion in the newer games because you can run as fast as Sonic. There are also less abilities and game breaking power ups within the OG zombies experience
    Aesthetic: I'll be using Modern Warfare Zombies and Cold War zombies as an example as they are the most recent controversial titles to zombies(Vanguard was collectively agreed to be bad) MWZ and CW feels inviting and colourful with many vibrant colours, compare that to the unsettling feel of Kino Der Toten or Ascension.
    HUD: The HUD in recent games such as MWZ and CW are very active and change every few seconds. This instinctively breaks the player's immersion since it makes your eyes follow the HUD instead of the gameplay
    What else would you add in this list?

    : I love the aether story, but I liked when the technology was based off the Vrilya. The ambiguous nature of it all added to the horror element of the game mode. Unpopular opinion here, I heard you talk about how you were uninterested with zombie chronicles and how you wouldn't be excited to see a zombie chronicles 2. I disagree. I understand what you're saying and I get it, why would you want remastered maps if you already have them. But here's my argument, because Playstation 4 & 5 users don't get the older games but Xbox users do. Plus, alot of those games are starting to die out slightly in public matches. (Talking about consoles). If Playstation just put the older games on the store that'll be sweet, but personally I'm very excited for zombie chronicles 2 just so I could relive the nostalgic feeling. I also know what a lot of people are gonna say "bro just buy a ps3" but why would I buy a ps3 just to play a game I can't play with any of my friend who play on ps4/5 plus why would I spend so much money on an older console just to play a few games? I'd rather just spend less for zombie chronicles 2 relive the nostalgia and not have to deal with the expensive problem. That's just Mt opinion. You don't have to agree. It's just my thought process.

    Hot take- Cold War loudouts but make it act like war zone where you get your gun *after* power this brings use to wall weapons and the box before power is on and that the loadout could be like 10k and this would fine if we get a mix of on hit points kill points with Cold War. Perkaholic is a way to use up excess points and makes downing more punishing where it makes recovery interesting and with the point system you can have weak guns but be able to grind points to set up again.

    Man, I've been playing since WaW but I've gotta say I love Outbreak. I hate MWZ but I love Outbreak. If we got a map designed around the mode rather than recycled Warzone maps then it would be the primo experience.
    Really, they can make a large open map for outbreak, and section it off for separate survival maps. If there's enough dev time/space they could even develop the main Round Based maps separately from the Outbreak/cut up survival maps from it and that could be the main vehicle for story.

    Some of my many hot takes: BO3's ray gun is underrated, i think the wider horde spread combined with how good most of BO3's weapons are is what makes the ray gun look weak. The 24 zombies per round system of Nacht through Shi no numa should've never been changed, the only thing the current system does is making high rounds take forever. The BO4 perk system was a good idea that was badly executed, they wanted us to stop buying the same 4 perks every game wich gets boring in the long run, i think they should've just gone through the easier route by buffing the worst perks and maybe nerfing the best ones, for example no one in their right mind would choose deadshot over jug but if deadshot gave you no hip fire spread + 2x headshot dmg, it would be a good competitor to jug.

    Tbh I think if you combined Cold War mechanics and vanguard it’d be great. Like, take covenants to replace the permanent weapon class upgrades. Keep the rarity and pack a punch tiers separate like Cold War. Remove the perk permanent upgrades in favor of upgrading them in game but have the specific tiers be identical to their crystal upgrades. And keep making every perk upgrade boost the price of the next perk purchase. Only lose one tier per perk

      @ThatWarlockBoi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Xpertfusion rarity is definitely something that could be worked out and shifted in different ways. Like maybe a good way to do it is lean more into it being how many attachments will be on it, with all being in box including gray
      Gray rarity: no attachments, Green, 2, blue 3, purple 4, orange 5. Then have a higher rarity that uses your “loadout” version of it similar to the bo3 or bo4 weapon kit/armory systems. Each could still have increased chance from the box or wall as the match goes on so that eventually you can get your preferred version but not guaranteed until later on, but it only affects damage if the attachments actually cause the change. With this in mind, launchers or anything else that doesn’t get attachments would be a bit difficult, but maybe have some sort of minor benefit like 1-5% increase to blast radius at each rarity level or something like that

    what we need is a zombies collection game. With all maps from all games in 1 game. The closest thing we have is BO3 with customs. Soon we'll have five / die rise / tranzit / buried and a redone mob of the dead in bo3 from the custom map makers. As well as IX and die maschine. I hate the division of... (wanna play this map? load up this game. wanna play that map? load up this game) I Have maps that I enjoy and don't enjoy in every game. So the fact that the community is making zombie chronicles 2 with the remaining maps from BO1 and BO2 into BO3 that were not in ZC1. Makes me so happy, instead of having soon 8 treyarch zombies experiences in 2025 plus exo / IW / WAW2 / vanguard and MWZ.... We need at least a treyarch zombies collection game. BO3 is that for now for the most part. making WAW, BO1 and BO2 kinda pointless for zombies, at least for me. Say you prefer the guns and the 2 hit down from the games before BO3... use a weapon pack mod and a mod for the 2 hit down. Other than that the mechanics of BO3 are simply better. The movement and the sticky zombies are gone. Plus no more of the nah nah you didn't knife cause you weren't 1 inch closer. I thank the custom mappers for not only the awesome custom maps like void expanse, The Damned of the Moor, EUROPA, Leviathan and many more. I thank the custom mappers for cutting down my list of cod zombies games I need to load up from 6 to now 3. But Bo3 can only be our zombies collection game for so long. some bo4 and cold war maps might not be able to be remade in BO3

Waiting for tank recharge, waiting for generators, waiting for portals to build, waiting for snow rounds, waiting for robots, waiting for gramophone, panzer going from extremely OP to a fucking joke with wonder weapons, the ice staff massively outclassing the others, mud making early rounds too hard without staves, needing the Crazy Place 16 times to complete the quest, the generator zombies, the terrible quest, the punches being pointless, panzer having too much health in BO3.

    Remasters should only happen if there’s no accessibility on a current console generation to the old maps
    Reimaginings should specifically target bad-ok maps only to try and remake the concept of them with feedback to be a better version then the original e.g blood of the dead sucks cause it’s a redo of a map that was already perfect, classified is great cause it makes positive changes to the mid tier map of five.

    • Double tap should remain baked into pack a punch like Cold War

    •once a perk is bought it is upgraded in game (not permanently in menu) by doing a challenge based on that perk I.e x amount of consecutive kills without being hit for jugg.
    •when you go down if your perks are on base tier you lose them however if you have perks on let’s say tier 2 they will just fall back to tier 1.

    I have both a hot take and a bit more of an interesting bit that I NEVER see anyone mention on Origins.
    Hot Take: Falling off and dieing on Die Rise and blaming the map is completely stupid. A map based on verticality like Die Rise obviously has a bunch of ledges you can fall and die from. So the people who do fall off and whine about it and blame the map are at fault for deciding themselves to play in a more dangerous area. There are plently of spots to play in Die Rise without the risk of falling off the map.
    Extra Hot Take: The Baby Gun on Shang and the Jet Gun on Tranzit both have the infinite damage and both require the players to know how to use the weapon effectively and efficiently yet the baby hun is praised as one of the greatest wonder weapons in zombies History while the Jet Gun is considered one of the worst ever.
    And the little fact thing I have that I find interesting is that everyone knows the three main robots on Origins, along with the 4th destroyed one by gen 2. But I NEVER see anyone mention the fact that the robot that steps on top of spawn at the very start of the map is a separate one too. The Robot that steps through gen 2 and 3 doesn't step on top of spawn he passes by it.

    About diffrent game modes and variety and so much as my hottake:
    MWZ existing is fine and i kinda enjoy it. Its is own game with (sadly) just the extraction mode.
    But it took nothing away from another mode (because there is no other) and Black Ops 6 will be Round based again... its not that difficult to understand that the games from other studios that are mor Treyarch, are Experimentalground for new Zombies Ideas...
    i didn't care for Vanguard, but some people act like its the antichrist himself, but i just saw it as a experiment gone wrong.
    If you don't like the mode, don't play it and wait for the next game with roundbased

    • @Xpertfusion
      @Xpertfusion  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But 1/3 of a $70 game should not be used for just a bunch of experiments. We are consumers/players, not guinea pigs. I think doing some experimental projects here or there is fine, but not as a whole product (especially if it gets practically abandoned after a few short months)
      The problem was Treyarch working on those other games instead of just a different studio doing it. Treyarch didn't have time for it clearly.
      IW and WW2 Zombies do not feel like experiments. They are actual fleshed-out zombies modes (with some innovative ideas here or there, but the mode itself is just a full product)
      I don't really like the whole "if you don't like it, just wait for the next game" argument because when you look at 2014-2018 and realize we did have 5 straight years of actual zombies content (obviously not every map was great in that time, but it wasn't just a bunch of experiments). People are allowed to criticize the current game if they don't like it.

    I disagree with list of maps your brought up in 'Simplicity vs Complexity' as you are misunderstanding part of what they are saying.
    What the commenter is trying to say is that they want maps that are minimal in effort and requirement to set up and allows the player to just get into playing the zombies part of the game.
    Yes when you write it down, the steps in DM, DE, IX and Rev are simple but in practice, for most casual, they are a much bigger effort. Especially, DE and Rev where you often get this feeling where you need to get the elemental bows, you need to spin the box to get a gun to deal with Margwa and Panzer but also defending the plates.
    A lot of maps asks the player to do a list of objective, a list to casual player doesn't feel optional due to the game design of the maps, the boss zombies that will spawn in at a certain round. The optional list becomes a requirement before they can properly get into the zombies survival part which can act as a turn off.
    I think a good comparison simple vs complex set up map is Buried vs DE. In Buried, there is some set up in you need to free Leroy and get access to the Witch Mansion to get to PAP. You have optional buildables and wonder weapons, chalks, etc. The set up feels very relaxed with the optional feeling like optional.
    In DE for casual, there is a timer, the Panzer will spawn in at round 8. While there is many ways to deal with it. The Panzer becomes a looming threat that forces the player to try an maximise their rounds. Especially, if you do not liking fight BO3 Panzers. The optional bow becomes needed factor, how to get the elemental bow force most casual to search up a guide and spend 10-30 minutes getting one. A 'simple set up' becomes a complex one with none of the optional quest feeling optional. .
    Ultimately, Sometime people don't want to do the busy work. Sometimes, people just want to play zombies and not the set up game before hand which is why The Giant and especially Town is beloved because it is zombies at it most raw that allows you to have fun and relax with friends %100 all the time.
    And frankly, on a more psychology level, having simpler maps, especially on launch along side a complex maps is a really good idea as it filters the player into how they want to play the game, playing the map that caters to their playstyle. But also allows them the option to go "Today, I want to play the complex map."
    It why BO2 was so good back in the day since you could go from playing Mob and Origin. Deeply complex maps that require active engagement to then playing Town and Buried which was much more relaxed.

    • @Xpertfusion
      @Xpertfusion  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you are actually misusing the words "simple and complex" and rather are confusing it with "easy and hard". I wouldn't necessarily call DE hard, but sure, compared to Buried, I guess it has more challenging moments (still the easiest map in BO3 probably). But even for casuals, they don't have to do much to take out the Panzer (it spawns in on Round 12 on DE, not 8). All they need is either a Pack a Punched gun (which can be easily obtained before Round 10, just press 2 buttons and get 5000 points), or they could get a bow (even the standard bow could take out the Panzer). Hell, they don't even really NEED any of that, and non-upgraded gun could take on the Panzer too, it just takes a bit longer and will be harder (not more complex though).
      The quests are always optional. Getting the standard bow isn't really a "quest" and getting a Wonder Weapon out of the box certainly isn't a quest either.
      I do understand that some people just want very easy, simple maps like Town (which Town is actually pretty hard, it's just very simple), but all I'm saying is that majority of maps can be played just like the OG classics.

But rarity is just an added layer of unnecessary complexity! Now you can upgrade your guns by rarity and plus and then you can upgrade a shitty gun to be super strong but have a common gun be naturally strong. I guess what I'm saying is that having all the guns on a common playing field with the only upgrades being perks and pack a punch was so much more simple.

    Hears 1 of my hot takes, moon is 1 of the worst maps ever made game play wise especially for casual games
    The drills are annoying to deal with, rotating between jug and speed is there to artificially made the map more frustrating and time waisting, not being able to hold the hacker and the space suits limits the players choice, the space man stealing perks is there to force players to spend more money and make the map more difficult without making it fun especially when playing solo since if he takes ur quick revive that's 1 less down u get and doing the ee literally depends on how lucky u are
    I feel like the only reason ppl defend the map is because they can't take there rose tinted shades off and look at the map through objectively

      I had the luxury of playing moon a full decade after its release and I gotta say that even though its not casual friendly, you're overexagerrating how bad the gameplay is. The drills are the worst part of the map but I think its justified seeing as people will just train in the biodome till round infinity, so I think the drill messing up your training area is good way to make sure you dont stay in one place plus you get 1000 points for doing so. Jug and speed switching constantly inbetween laps sounds bad until you remember that you can get jug and quick revive at the beginning of the game if you're good enough and when you return to pack a punch, you can just pick up speed. The space suit not being available to you when you pick up the hacker does suck but lets be real youre not training nor camping in the spots where you need the suit and its not like you instantly die stepping out into the zero g areas, you have ten seconds to get out of there, plus the hacker is the most broken item in zombies history, I think not having the suit with you is a good trade off for having an item that can get change literally every aspect of the map. And I dont know about you but the astronaut has never been a huge problem for me especially since you can hear him coming, his slow walking makes him completely avoidable and you can make him stay put if you jump over him with the jump pads, making him a complete non issue for me plus you can get out of his choke hold. While I agree with you that the ee is bad in terms of rng, its a great ee when it comes to how much fun it is. What people dont get about this map is just how much fun it actually is especially with all the wonder weapons just sitting in the box. But thats my opinion, for me its a top 3 zombies map

    My biggest hot take: BO2 is the most mediocre zombies experience to date treyarch wise. (Not including most of BO4 because I didn’t play any of the dlcs) BO2 has 2 good maps. MOTD and Origins. Everything else is mediocre at BEST. Yes even buried.
    I guess my other hot take is that Der Riese is wildly overrated. I don’t care that it set the frame work for a lot of modern zombies. It’s boring as hell and camping the catwalk is only fun till round 20. Hell same with all of the WaW maps. They’re all boring after playing them 2-3 times
