  • I headed down to one of the Canterbury rivers to have a look around for any agates, I didn't spend much time there but managed to find a couple worth taking home.
    It was a new section of river that I hadn't explored yet, so you never know what you are going to find!

    Used to find loads of rocks like that as kids in the Hawkes' Bay. Never knew what they were. As a die-hard rockhound this leaves me quite saddened now 😢

    That was an enjoyable river ramble and drive through the countryside.

    Malambo...thanks so much for this post. I found similar stones and you allowed me to see what they truly were. Love your show! Thanks.

    Thanks for this - I have beach fossicked my whole life but only recently started specifically looking for things. Because your a Kiwi site it helps to know what to look for so your sharing is vital. I have many of these types of crystals in the garden (cause I thought they were pretty) and now I know what I should be looking for, thanks to your vids - I don't have a saw yet but seeing this will help stop me from lugging home 30kgs of nothing lol

    Holy heck these are beautiful stones, may I enquire as to where abouts the river is that you're standing in? Regards 🙏🏼

    Not much banding but still very pretty! The little plume is a nice feature.
    (Your driving sequence really freaked me out. Even though I know you drive on the left side, I still felt like we were going to wreck! 😆)

      It is the same for me watching people in the US drive! Not my best agate hunt, I was expecting more from that medium sized one.

    Those are some great pieces! its too bad that big one didnt have any banding or anything. That second one was really pretty though. Thanks for sharing!

      The second one was quite nice! I'm hoping that BIG one has a surprise inside, but it looks quite quartzy!

    Have you ever cut a crab in half to see if there is any internal detail?

    • @aserta
      @aserta ปีที่แล้ว

      Thin shell, lots of rock, if you're lucky, a geode. If you're very lucky. The guts/contents of the crab were long since gone by the time the process had started.

    That’s so fascinating!
    I wonder what “bending” means and what kind of power tool this is. I see water; did you add it or is it incorporated in the power tool!
    Anyways, very inspiring! I love stones🤍

    • @mamlamborocks
      @mamlamborocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, it's "banding" also know as fortifications - my accent got in the way! I was using a lapidary saw which has an autofeed, the liquid is some mineral oil to let the blade last longer.

      @@mamlamborocks Thank you so much for your response ! Don’t apologize, your accent is lovely! I have to apologize cause English isn’t my first language. I have a knack for power tools and this info was very interesting to me! Opening those stones was exciting to watch ;like opening a present! Can’t wait for the next video!! It’s magic!!✨✨✨

    2:43 if that is one it's a biggie. Why do you make your first cut so thick?? Wouldn't you be able to get another slice of not so think if they were any good?? Just asking because I don't know
    Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

    • @mamlamborocks
      @mamlamborocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually just cut them in half - I don't do slices at the moment but that's something worth thinking about!
