One of my favourite songs by Emmylou. Gives me the chills every time, especially when she sang it in her younger years with such a clear and bright voice.
I was privileged to see Emmylou in the 70ies at the Troubadour. she did this as a encore with just a n acoustic guitar. I still get chicken skin listening to it.
The first time I heard this song was on a cassette by the Mcarther sisters. I lost the tape but I loved this song. I just found it tonight by ELH and she does a beautiful job. I was and still is a fan since 1977 when I went to Ryerson. Her voice is out of this world. I'm glad I found this song.
Never say never, Emmylou's friend just posted this & it's a video I've never seen before. The song is special, the times were special as is Ms Emmylou. We've all been blessed to live in a time when voices like Emmylous, Lindas & Dollys were heard & appreciated. ;o)) ♫ ♪ ♫
Andy Peace as much as I love Emmy and nobody does more than me and what you said is blasphemy and sacrilegious. How do I know this? Who created Emmylou? Careless words from folks who may mean well nonetheless make a mockery of spirituality and religion. Why don’t you be more honest and admit you don’t even know G-D. Then we would have a little more respect for you.
Was this from "On Stage" of "Austin City Limits" I taped this way back in the "olds" but the tape was stolen. There were some other songs she did that night that are not on any records.
The guitar, piano, accompaniment, acústics and the platinum voice of the original Songbird.
My very favourite song. Written by Jesse Winchester and beautifully sung by Emmylou

Stunning performance. I saw her sing this at an outdoor venue with trains chugging by every 15 minutes. It was still beautiful.

Should someone find a better quality version of this performance it will break the internet.

Written by Jesse Winchester.
Brian Claflin Yes indeed written by the Great Jesse Winchester and sung like a human angel, Emmylou.
