Honestly, with regards to Mother, "The story's over. Leave it be." is a statement that I can respect.

Earthbound ending because Itoi considers the story done is honestly something I can respect and get behind. Only thing that should be done is giving the first and third games much wider release.

Honestly, I appreciate Mothers creator and allowing his series to reach a natural ending. It’s so hard to find a gaming franchise that knows when to stop and its happy to leave it at that.

this is how you end up with horrible sequels.
Others don’t understand the pain of Mother fans. We have a third game that will never get out of Japan, and the other games will likely never get remade. Then the creator says he is done but someone else could make a new game. Then we run the risk of getting an unfaithful fourth game or a terrible spinoff.

Honestly, something like a definitive compilation of the three games is the most I'd want for it at this point. Maybe bring the first two games up to the same graphical snuff as Mother 3, some quality-of-life changes, etc.
But I wouldn't want any more MOTHER games. Games that can successfully carry on the spirit of them are probably better.

Looking back, I wonder if "Directed By Hideo Kojima" appearing at the end of PT wasn't the final straw.
They obviously took issue with his name being slapped all over and drowning out Konami's involvement, and I vividly remember that right after PT came out, the worst headlines (in regards to konami's work conditions) came pouring out shortly afterwards.
I vividly remember this, because it was when Phantom Pain got a release date, and I sold my ps3 and 2 because I thought "I'll just buy the metal gear series(only reason I owned Playstation consoles, and has honestly been my main go-to game for %90 of my life) when they release a box set with the next game" only for the next week to be when all the "this will be the final metal gear game" came out.
I sold my ps3 and ps2(and all games and accessories) and went back to the same place to buy a new ps3, and the MGS Legacy collection within 1 week apart.

Obviously it's not the ideas that's the problem, Mario Kart just bring in more of the money whereas F-Zero wasted money. You could see why Mario Kart stick around longer and not F-Zero. If it was you would you rather keep a cheap and popular but old franchise that still makes you the money or would you rather focus on the more expensive and cooler but not so popular franchise that doesn't make you any money at all?

When I hear "lack of good ideas" for why F-Zero hasn't continued, as a Paper Mario fan I kinda breathe a sigh of relief. There's a difference between being a quality franchise where people can appreciate each entry and re-releases alone are considered a big deal, and a franchise that has been smashed into the dirt every 4-5 years due to apparently "good ideas" ruining what made the series intrinsically enjoyable in the first place.
Fzero 99 has more inspiration than the latest three Paper Marios combined.

I think the difference between dormant and dead franchises is what the company says about it. For example, Metal Gear and MOTHER are dead because the creators specifically said there wouldn't be any more games. F-Zero is dormant because Nintendo hasn't said it was dead, and they would like to bring it back when they had a good enough idea.
It’s kind of sad mother is dead. It would be nice to see an HD remake of mother 1, 2, and 3, which have all the stories interconnecting in the same game. Everything could stay the same, except for the visuals and audio. I’m not a big fan of the fighting system, but if they change it, it won’t stay true to the series.

Mother ended, but mgs was unfinished due to Konami. It's like a person about to retire be murdered. F-Zero on the other hand is missing and on a carton of milk
Omar Casillas MGS story was finished with MGS4. MGSV was unfinished. There was supposed to be a whole other chapter but it was shelved. That being said, the overall story is complete

i think metroid is by far the best nintendo franchise. the first metroid prime on gamecube is still one of my favorite games ever. they really should have stuck with that formula rather than switching to the other m, which i never even played because everything i saw looked like a huge step back from prime. glad they're doing a new prime and i hope they don't screw it up.

Even though dead franchises make us sad, I really appreciate those ones that died out while they were still relevant and great and didn't get slowly beaten to death by greedy game companies. That's the thing that gives certain games the legendary status.

Mother had a great 3 game series. A real ending. I would say it's a legendary series. Ness and Lucas are both in Super Smash Bros. Ness is in every single Smash game.

It’s sad that old Rare is dead, but I do remember reading somewhere that new Rare want to create their own identity, which makes sense cuz nobody from the original team is left. They all went on to other studios, like Playtonic. I can appreciate them carving their own legacy, but they only have one game, Sea of Thieves, and it’s not even out yet.

For Conker, her creator Chis Seavor left Rare a long time ago so a sequel is not likely, however he did form his own studio.
Nuts and Bolts was made because Rare was running out of ideas for Banjo, now Gregg Mayles wants to move on to make Ever Wild.

I would KIILLL for a new Sly Cooper game! It’s probably my second or third favorite video game franchise of all time- they were all such fun, imaginative and creative adventures.
Well, as I've just found out:
Sly Cooper's getting his own tv series, so not only does is show an interest in the series, but perhaps the potential for a Sly 5 (to fix that god awful Sly 4 plot twist)

The original F-Zero was the very first videogame I played. It wasn't just a game to me it was some of the best moments of my childhood. I was always getting beat by my older siblings in everything. I always lost in board games, cards, bike races, swimming, even even rock paper scissors. School made things worse because I was bullied a lot too. But when I was given the SNES from Uncle I also got F-Zero with it. (Super Mario World and Graiduz III as well) I remember passin that finish line as the Blue Falcon and it was awesome. 1ST PLACE on that TV gave me such a boost of conference that I finally won at something! Later on eventally beat the King League on MASTER difficultly and actually came in first play on every track too. Nothing made me feel as happy as to when I saw - "You are an F-Zero Master!" On the screen. It really changed me for the better. F-Zero showed me that even the little guy can be a winner as long as they try and never give up.

Bubsy only came back because its so infamous that it kept the publics attention on it. If a dead franchise has little to no publicity, good or bad, its as good as gone, hence why franchises such as Blinx (Microsoft's originally planned mascot franchise before Halo) will likely never come back, because its mostly forgotten.

Charlie Koszulinski I liked it when I was little. But I haven't played it in a long time. I remember getting stuck a lot and having to look online to figure how to progress but enjoy the story. God bless
F-zero ideas: a game but it isn't all about racing. You are also doing bounty hunting and stuff. Kind of an open world kid friendly GTA

What about my boy, Klonoa? The last original game I'm the series was released almost ten years ago and was Japan exclusive and the last game was a dumbed down remake of the first game on the Wii. Not to mention, the series turned 20 last December and nobody even remembered, not even Namco.
Boy... Lemme tell you about a small trilogy of games called Pac-Man World... Better yet, Pac-Man platformers in general.

Starfy is one of those series that might truly be dead I feel like. Apparently TOSE, the people behind it, wanted to make another one, but they couldn't unless Nintendo said yes, and Nintendo said no.
