i totally agree. I love The Aristocrats, but is nice to hear guthrie being part of the harmony sometimes and not being the main soloist artist in almost every time of every song, like in the aristocrats.
There was the standard line up for this band and they used to play every Wednesday night in a tiny Chelmsford club called The Bassment (which is still there). So I'm pretty sure this was correct for this recording (sounds like it anyway). The sort of bar where sometimes only 10 people would be there, dark, damp, sticky floor, you'd be 2 feet from Guthrie's pedal board. Middle aged guys standing round with pints of beer, nodding... World class musicians! Guitar - Guthrie Govan Drums - Pete Riley Sax - Zak Barrett Keyboard - John Dutton Bass - Seth Govan
@@bobjelIy no worries, as a keyboardist myself trying to improve my jazz - I had a lesson with John once, seriously knowledgeable guy, lightyears ahead of where I was! That was about 20 years ago!
I saw Guthrie play at this venue (I think ... Chelmsford?) back in 2002. Met GG and had a chat .... lovely down to earth sort of guy, and hugely talented. Great though he was then, I didn't imagine that in ten years or so he would become the world's most amazing player. Incredible!
I was 1 year old at the time, in a different country… now at 20 years old, being a massive Guthrie fan and living in Reading, im hoping I can attend a show and see him live around London or the south-east in general!
This is potent stuff! Wow! Yet, very under the radar music, an absurd fatality of internet life. Sonic torture crap propagated to the masses, while masterpieces like this remain in the underground shadow, only accessible to the gifted chosen few, wired to decode ''IT''

I CAN TOTALLY HEAR THE STEVEN WILSON ALBUM "THE RAVEN THAT REFUSED TO SING" WITHIN A LOT OF THIS PERFORMANCE. OBVIOUSLY GUTHRIE PLAYED ON THAT RECORD BUT THE VIBE OF THAT ALBUM IS VERY PRESENT ON THIS RECORDING. Naturally, I'm here because of Guthrie, but I'm really digging the rest of the band. What a talented bunch.
Jesus is this stuff even better than The Aristocrats ..
it's very close but Marco really is on a lev......... ya know, "disregard "

Best thing I’ve heard in ages.
Phase Dance! I got so excited when that one started!
I just saw Pat Metheny in a solo show in Albuquerque, New Mexico a couple of months ago. I’ve been a fan since I was 17.
Have rarely heard anything as good as this in the last 10 years. Guthrie is a genius.
Great musicians thanks for posting...
