I'm in central California just above Bakersfield and end of last summer three houses just two doors away burned down and we were evacuated. Right after that the Borel fire completely burned down our neighboring town and was right on the edge of our town, Lake Isabella. We were almost evacuated. People who couldn't move all of their pets said they will stay with them and die in their house if they have to because they won't leave their animals alone. So I bought 20 pet carriers at $40 each at Walmart and passed them out to all my neighbors. I'm old, retired, very healthy and skinny so I can live on peanut butter and jelly. Pets come first. No one needed them but I told them to hang on to them because we are surrounded by three mountains that catch fire every summer.
Look. Firefighters have an Incident Management Team that puts a plan in place. This is put together with all the intelligence that's available to them. This is a war. It's faught by priority.
