I’ll be honest, as much of a banger as Spamton’s tracks are, the sheer level of bliss when A CYBER’S WORLD? starts playing when you enter the titular world for the first time is amazing. Toby executed that sequence perfectly and just those memories attached to the song itself make it the best track for me. Glad to see it was a standout for you, as well.

Deltarune and undertale songs actually loops in the game so it would explain the sudden ending. It also fits much better with the context in the game especially with battle music. Maybe you should try looking at these scenes. You look so confused at flowey’s laugh(undertale) and the queen’s laugh(Deltarune) lol🤣
I remember when i first saw spamton, I legit had to take 5 minutes just to jam out to his song. Didn't realize at the time that he would be such a pivotal character of that chapter lol
Toby Fox is a master of leitmotifs and getting them to bring back memories, call attention to certain characters, set moods, and constantly amping up situations! He can take the same tune, and make it sad, happy, serious, and a pumping boss battle. Also so many environmental and storytelling aspects integrated into it. You learn a lot listening to characters themes
Actually Toby is his stage name :) I heard his real name is Robert. I think he chose Toby to distinguish a separate persona. Robert is the person and Toby is the dog. That honestly sounds like the perfect duo for a comic. Robert would make the things and Toby would be the inspiration.
The thing I love most about the Undertale and Deltarune osts is that Toby is able to take the same song or leitmotif and make multiple distinct versions of it without it sounding repetitive

you should try playing deltarune sometime! the first 2 parts are free to download and play. one of the coolest parts of the soundtrack is how well toby attributes certain motifs to characters and story elements, combined with his amazing sense of humor, making for a really amazing game.

All I'll say regarding the track is that it's heavily related to Welcome to the City (ALT), d.ogg and Berdly Battle (Tense Heartbeat Edition) (Basically the last 3 songs you reacted to besides the applause.)
I seriously cant stop expressing how much My castle Town means to me. It's such a beautiful song and yet I see almost no one talking about how precious it is
For a bonding moment with my 90-year-old Southern grandma, we shared some of our favorite music with each other. She showed me "And I love you so" by Perry Como, I showed her "My Castle Town" by Toby Fox. We both loved the songs. :) "My Castle Town" is a gorgeous and wonderful song, through and through. It's my go-to when I want to show someone how nice video game music can be. (As full of bangers as the soundtrack is generally, people who don't play video games are often turned off by the synth instrumentation)

It's great how Toby uses specific themes for different characters and ideas. Our first encounter with Queen uses her theme "Queen" and every other track involving her uses a variation or remix of that theme. Could you consider reacting to Mother 3's soundtrack at some point? The ones I personally love the most (for feels they give) are; A CYBER'S WORLD?; for it's incorporation to the world's intro, as well as that blast of undiscovered nostalgia. Cyber Battle (Solo); If possible, watch the battle against them, and you'll find out why, lol Smart Race; Sci-Fi High Speed chase vibes Pandora Palace; Running around in a massive cyber deathtrap-mansion ran by a memelord of a ruler Attack of the Killer Queen; Boss theme. 'nuff said. BIG SHOT; AN ABSOLUTELY [[Terrifying]] AND [[Spectacular]] PERFORMANCE (Also, the little motifs from other songs, like World Revolving, Power of NEO, GhostFight, and Mad Dummy)
A couple of references to other songs that are hidden in there that some may not have seen are pretty cool! In My Castle Town, the first 16 bars are _very_ reminiscent of Cruel Angel's Thesis, the opening of Neon Genesis Evangeleon. WELCOME TO THE CITY again has a hidden secret in the opening bars; it sounds very similar to a song that Toby worked on called 74 (an absolute banger to those who haven't heard it)

Undertale: Death by Glamour Deltarune ch. 1: Chaos King Deltarune ch. 2: BIG SHOT this was my favorite amongst all the soundtracks, but that however doesn't mean that I didn't like the other soundtracks. Toby really did an Astounding also Amazing soundtracks for us to listen to while struggling on fighting the bosses.

Toby uses a lot of sound fonts from old games like mother 3 and other old games, he also uses a few leitmotifs from the original game especially noticeable in BIG SHOT

Agreed with people struggling to pick a fave, I would probably go for Faint Courage, it's based on Darkness Falls and I fell in love with the motive even then, but FC sounds more sentimental sort of? More provocative on emotional level. The Dark Truth might be second, it's so... captivating and eery
For me it's definitely BIG SHOT but while listening to the OST a couple times, surprisingly, My Castle Town worked it's way quite high up into a no-skip fav
A couple of notes related to playback speed. 1.) Deal Gone Wrong, in the most common situation where it plays, is significantly sped up (physically, like sped-up record) by the game engine. You do, however, have a chance to hear it in the game at near true-speed, in a certain special case. 2.) The alternate mix of Welcome to the City is actually _never_ heard in-game at true-speed, with its only appearance also being significantly sped up (enough for the _second_ chord in its progression to be made the one that matches the main version's intro).
Hollow Knight has a great OST. I’d be interested how someone would react to the music without the environmental context the music appears in. Like the areas the music play in are half the experience, yknow?

You should play the game! Especially since it's free. It'd provide even more context to these tracks, and allow you to associate motifs to characters. It'd also clear up the abruptness of looping songs ending where they would loop (argubly it could just happen in the uploaded audio but oh well)

When I was playing chap 2 and I entered Cyber City, the synchronicity of the beat drop in A Cyber's World and the background where you get to see the entire city left me wordless, my heart rate increased and my jaw dropped too. My favorite part so far, it was extremely beautiful and unexpected.
Your reaction rocks, haha, radiating so much joy that it gives me some as well! My tastes are super vanilla but Attack of the Killer Queen and Big Shot (final chapter boss and secret boss fights) are second and top favorite respectively. Whereas one was very joyous and silly, the other foreboding and frantic, I really do feel Toby knows how to leave the best for last, haha, using the best rocking themes as the bookend of a long journey.

I find it kinda funny that my music teacher, who is a professional jazz musician and music writer, does the same exact head bob/nod thing whenever I show him new music and stuff. He also does the rapidly changing expressions thing too as he listens. Is that like.... A musician thing??? Is that something that just comes natural to people who have learned how to pick up on certain melodies and such in music??? I'm genuinely super curious
I also played jazz professionally, but I don’t think that is it. It comes down to genuinely loving the music, allowing your body to move and feel the music, and knowing a TON of other music so you know when something special comes along. Also knowing a ton of music puts other things in context. Some melodies are funny, some are sad and some are bangers. All roads lead here, practice every day and love music with all your heart.
Enjoying music just sort of does that to people, especially musicians. It’s so great to see that he’s comfortable just letting loose and vibing to this phenomenal soundtrack.
5:35 completely justifies these kind of reaction videos, even though i like them anyway. You having an ear for the bass drop got me to listen closer and now Queen is the song im most obsessed with.
You should consider listening to the splatoon soundtrack if you haven’t before! They cover a ton of different styles and genres, everything from rock to pop to rap to vapor wave to alt rock to even classical. It uses a lot of wacky instruments and weird cord progressions, It’s a very bizarre but very unique and very fun soundtrack.

I find it weird that while the memento version of Smart Race, the alternate version of WELCOME TO THE CITY and d.ogg are featured in this, one last track from that particular part of the game is completely absent, specifically the one that plays *_SPOILERS_* after going to the hospital in the Weird/Snowgrave Route, upon exiting Rudolph Holiday's room. The two videos that I found that actually play it both named it "Flashback" in the title and descrition respectively, but since it and everything else from the Weird Route isn't on the official soundtrack to begin with, I don't know if that is it's real title. In any case, I'm confused as to why those other three were here but this one's missing.

Usually people focus more on the game part and leave a passing comment on the songs, and those who do sometimes do not do a blind reaction, making it more of a review of sorts. Thus, you, someone who knows about music, doing a blind reaction focused solely on the soundtrack of a game is great.
I'm not sure how much of the other Undertale and deltarune and Undertale osts you've listened to, but I highly recommend you do. Megalovania may be good but there's a lot of other excellent tracks Toby Fox made, and in addition you'll recognize a lot leitmotifs and melodies that he reuses between tracks, especially between the two deltarune chapters
Fun fact : In the place where Pandora Palace plays there are a lot of portraits, and when the music reaches that "Woo woo woo wooooo!" The paintings laugh in rythm to the woo's

Toby Fox is a master of leitmotifs and getting them to bring back memories, call attention to certain characters, set moods, and constantly amping up situations! He can take the same tune, and make it sad, happy, serious, and a pumping boss battle. Also so many environmental and storytelling aspects integrated into it. You learn a lot listening to characters themes

you should try playing deltarune sometime! the first 2 parts are free to download and play. one of the coolest parts of the soundtrack is how well toby attributes certain motifs to characters and story elements, combined with his amazing sense of humor, making for a really amazing game.

"My Castle Town" is a gorgeous and wonderful song, through and through. It's my go-to when I want to show someone how nice video game music can be. (As full of bangers as the soundtrack is generally, people who don't play video games are often turned off by the synth instrumentation)

Agreed with people struggling to pick a fave, I would probably go for Faint Courage, it's based on Darkness Falls and I fell in love with the motive even then, but FC sounds more sentimental sort of? A couple of notes related to playback speed.
1.) Deal Gone Wrong, in the most common situation where it plays, is significantly sped up (physically, like sped-up record) by the game engine. You do, however, have a chance to hear it in the game at near true-speed, in a certain special case.
2.) The alternate mix of Welcome to the City is actually _never_ heard in-game at true-speed, with its only appearance also being significantly sped up (enough for the _second_ chord in its progression to be made the one that matches the main version's intro).
Note: I've since realized that speed and pitch are actually separate adjustments, so my "like a record" reference is thus invalid.
A soundtrack you should really try is the hollow knight ost, it's just amazing.
Hollow Knight has a great OST. I’d be interested how someone would react to the music without the environmental context the music appears in. Like the areas the music play in are half the experience, yknow?

Your reaction rocks, haha, radiating so much joy that it gives me some as well! My tastes are super vanilla but Attack of the Killer Queen and Big Shot (final chapter boss and secret boss fights) are second and top favorite respectively.
Whereas one was very joyous and silly, the other foreboding and frantic, I really do feel Toby knows how to leave the best for last, haha, using the best rocking themes as the bookend of a long journey.

me too. i grew up in the early 2000's and i only had songs like that to listen. i cried when i listened to cyber battle for the first time.
I find it kinda funny that my music teacher, who is a professional jazz musician and music writer, does the same exact head bob/nod thing whenever I show him new music and stuff. He also does the rapidly changing expressions thing too as he listens. Is that like.... A musician thing??? Is that something that just comes natural to people who have learned how to pick up on certain melodies and such in music??? I'm genuinely super curious
I also played jazz professionally, but I don’t think that is it. It comes down to genuinely loving the music, allowing your body to move and feel the music, and knowing a TON of other music so you know when something special comes along. Also knowing a ton of music puts other things in context. Some melodies are funny, some are sad and some are bangers. All roads lead here, practice every day and love music with all your heart.

You should consider listening to the splatoon soundtrack if you haven’t before! They cover a ton of different styles and genres, everything from rock to pop to rap to vapor wave to alt rock to even classical. It uses a lot of wacky instruments and weird cord progressions, It’s a very bizarre but very unique and very fun soundtrack.

Dude. The fact that you have a smile on your face, even through an entire hour stream is just amazing. I have watched this video several times now and I have loved every single second of it. Keep doing what you do dude, just know that whatever soundtrack you watch or review or whatever game you play, the support you get, you totally deserve it. These types of channels are my favorite and I better every time you show that smile. Also, on another note, the fact you have only 70k or so subscribers is just criminal. Get this man to millions!

@@MusicTheoryforGamers I think videogame music reactions are not given enough attention. Usually people focus more on the game part and leave a passing comment on the songs, and those who do sometimes do not do a blind reaction, making it more of a review of sorts.
Thus, you, someone who knows about music, doing a blind reaction focused solely on the soundtrack of a game is great.

I'm not sure how much of the other Undertale and deltarune and Undertale osts you've listened to, but I highly recommend you do. Megalovania may be good but there's a lot of other excellent tracks Toby Fox made, and in addition you'll recognize a lot leitmotifs and melodies that he reuses between tracks, especially between the two deltarune chapters

sadly one track that is not in the ost is Flash Back, it's a short but kinda scary and good sounding track, i recommend looking it up and having a real quick listen. cool vid btw
when i say not in the ost, its a hidden track mostly more considered sound effect for some reason, only plays once i guess
