We were so lucky to have Dokuro as our composer. He really dedicated himself towards making this soundtrack the best it could be. He really is an amazing dude and an amazing composer. Thank you for giving this OST a listen, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
@@Garbo_trashcan this is still something that pisses me off too this day, a bunch of unpatient idiots drove my biggest inspiration, the man that inspired me to begin music production, off of pretty much all of his platforms. It breaks my heart.
@@ElvenElle Yeah, genuinely horrible that a community can be so Toxic that they endlessly annoy and beg a community figure, who was working on music for their mod FOR FREE, that said figure decides to bow out from the community permanently, and had such a negative experience that even having the music brought up (the RichaardEB cover of Roar of the Jungle Dragon for example) brought back bad memories (that he admits could be positive for others). Technically they're a "final boss" in their own way, be of a biome like Crabulon and crimson/corruption second boss or Devourer of Gods which you need to fight other four bosses (at least when i played) and then fight a existence which like you kills gods too, a final battle between two fellow god slayers.
Fun fact: the ending part of INF3S+@+!0N Has strange noises, because, when hooked up to an oscilloscope, the strange noises make mushroom shapes. This is because the theme is for a boss that is a dead husk of a giant crab infested with fungus.
In the description DM DOKURO says that it was inspired by that type of visual music. The song he was inspired by, believe it if not, is called Mushrooms.
Theres a specific arrangement of the Scourge of the Universe related pieces that the artist put out called Devourer of Gods Non-stop mix, thats basically what they’d do if they put all those pieces into a single continuous piece of music, and in my opinion it is the perfect version of those songs. Highly recommend listening to that version on your own time if not in a reaction.
I love how in the mix they added the full main rhythm for Universal Collapse but as the starting “dun” sounds, as with original Universal Collapse it was only a part of the main rhythm that made up the startup
It's cool to see you here Heart! Good luck with the rest of the UCMM project. Perhaps, when the OST is finally completed, Dan could take a look at the additional composers within the Calamity Mod community ;)
Not only is this OST incredible, but it was made (mostly) by just 1 person, for a mod in a bigger game. Truly incredible Also, to address the title change, the answer is yes, it is that good
@@duogamez3380 calamity has far surpassed terraria vanilla's lenght in content, but made it easier too I finished cal normal mode for a meme in 4 days or less
Dokuro is incredible and he deserved better from the community, they shouldn’t have taken him for granted, genuinely created one of the most memorable soundtracks in gaming for a mod in a fairly overshadowed game in terms of the main stream
to play devil's advocate, most of the community praised him for the music. Considering he's autistic, I think he just wasn't ready for recognition of that size.
Terraria is the 10th best selling game in the world, and calamity got a million downloads in a month when it was first put on the workshop, just the mod itself has a download count higher than a lot of extremely successful indie games like enter the gungeon

I never comment anywhere but it’s a bit bizarre to see a reaction to a soundtrack I partially worked on Was a fun experience working together with dokuro on three tracks and have true back and forth with writing
If you want to talk about music on my podcast (past guests include Jim Peterik (wrote eye of the tiger) brockett parsons (lady Gaga) and others DM @bestmusiccoach insta or FB.
My goodness DM DOKURO is so freakin versatile. It’s one thing to have a good sense of how to structure music, but making every song encapsulate every feeling of each environment and boss fight so realistically, is so impressive. They all fit so perfectly.
I find it a little odd to listen to a mod soundtrack before the base game - but with Calamity, I definitely understand, since it’s so incredible, it really stands on its own. Regardless, it would be amazing if you could listen to Terraria’s original soundtrack, since it’s one of my favourites in any game, with its own wildly original style of music.
@@inf_2174 this is my own personal belief, but Terraria’s full experience is when you play it on the hardest difficulty available. It’s just way more rewarding and addicting that way.
This was so fun! Perhaps you’ll consider doing the original Terraria OST? Also listen to THE LORDE’s theme (he is a removed boss) called “decrease your electronic device’s aural output” it’s really good!
I remember the day I thought, "huh, I wonder what modded terraria is like. May as well try it out." Then, I immediately fell in love with Calamity. The devs are absolutely incredible, the amount of effort and time put into the mod is ludicrous, and it's FREE! It's so high quality that it could easily pass for official DLC, it's honestly a crime that they aren't charging money for this masterpiece.
i really like the effort put into the mod, it could do with some improvements but it is really high quality. not my cup of tea but it's one epic cup of tea
Roar of the jungle dragon actually has so much lore behind it and the lyrics are from the perspective of one of the final bosses warning his master about the player. The intensity of the actual boss fight is portrayed really well in this song so I would say its my personal favourite from the ost
@@realtbhandrew back in 2018(i think) they were re-writing some parts of lore and lyrics were considered non-canon, if TH-cam allowes me, ill send my discord link here
If you know stained Brutal calamity lyrics, it is so satisfying hearing the "how will this fable end, with these legends interwined" in tale of a cruel world
What I really love about the Calamity OST is how it not only sounds incredible, but it tells a genuine story without the aid of the game. It's a shame it's arranged the way it is on spotify, as there are songs that appear after Yharons themes that really shouldn't be there, like the Astral Infection/upper abyssal themes. Even despite this, you can hear how the music progresses, hinting at things to come. Storms before the Catastrophes is brilliant, as it not only brilliantly caps off Open Frenzy, but gives the listener a roadmap of what they can expect next, with a little of Providence's theme, followed by DoG and then finally Yharon. And Catastrophes before the Calamity follows suit, giving us a little taste of what would eventually become Draedons theme, followed by a reminder of what is about to come. It's brilliant.
Nice top three... mine is... Universal collapse Roar of the jungle dragon Stained brutal calamity Pretty similar, but i have to say they are some of the best pieces that dm dokuro made
What I love about this soundtrack, is that it sticks to a theme that fits in the context of the Calamity lore... the feeling of melancholic determination. It even says it on the title of the first song you listen to "Tale of a cruel world", giving a sense of wonder. It just beckons anyone to adventure, but has hints of something grander underneath by use of the church bells, and with the slow strings also tells you that you might not like what you discover; of not only the horrors you fight, but also yourself. Every bit of the songs just keep to the same theme of melancholy, danger, mystery, and adventure into one package. Not only that, it also gives a psychological effect of wearing you down until you feel lethargic during the lulls of the soundtrack. And all of it tells of a story, of the "Hero", the Witch, and the Tyrant King, on a never-ending war that sends Terraria to its knees. Doubts are grieved, pain is expected, and death is not an escape, because everyone knows that the "Hero" cannot die, including their enemies. All the "Hero" has to do is give up, to leave Terraria to the Tyrant and live a normal life, but are *you* one to give up? The music shows great strife, but also motivates you to keep going despite being an impossible goal... and this is why when I play this mod, I listen to the music, because without it's just not the same, Calamity wouldn't be this great without the soundtrack period. And I hope this mod gets the attention it deserves despite some flaws.
Devs said dokuro’s lyrics isn’t really canon to the lore, so in my eyes dokuro is just good at telling stories through his music. Obviously the lyrics had major reference to the lore.
Dan has got to do one of the most genuine reactions to music. At least from the people I know. The stream was so nice and enjoyable to watch, and I had a good time while doing so. The Calamity soundtrack consists of many banger songs in my opinion and it seems like Dan enjoyed them as well. I really wish to see many more music reactions in the future, just like the previous ones. One of my own suggestions is the Made in Abyss OSTs 1 and 2. In my opinion the music in the soundtrack are ASTOUNDING and Kevin Penkin has done a really great job at it. Hope you see this. It's my genuine opinion about your content.
Like the yharon theme dude, its one of the best boss soundtrack in my head because its saying that yharon cant defeat the player and its probably a goditself
@@Junistheog There's a certain level of beauty in this theme. It marks the point when Yharim's war is starting to turn against him, because while Providence was a thorn in his side and The Devourer of Gods was essentially his temporary pet killer that he didn't fully trust, Yharon was different. Calamitas was an angry and ambitious killer that Yharim turned into a monster with her own anger. Draedon wasn't exactly disloyal, but he was reclusive, secretive, and mysterious, and that's a big no no for a paranoid conquerer, especially when they're building the weapons that can easily be turned against you. However, Yharon was Yharim's loyal companion who saved his life when he was a boy, and that dragon was his closest friend, and the only being within his inner circle that he fully trusted. It's highly likely that Yharim was consumed by sadness, anger, and grief after he learned that Yharon fell. No doubt, that's when the rivalry between him and the player became personal, and Yharim was ready to throw everything he had at you, even if it meant losing everything.
lol I used to think there was just sounds being made until I saw there was lyrics and then after seeing the lyrics, I started finally recognising the words being said in the song
The devourer of gods theme is actually genius because it pans around in time with how the boss actually moves and attacks in game so you have these audio queues for things that actually happen in game.
The people who were typing the lyrics in Stained, Brutal Calamity deserve a hug and so much more. The dedication is insane, and although insignificant, really amplifies my love for the calamity mod's community.
@@hajimehinata5854 it wasn't the entire community that harrassed him. Most people supported Dokuro, told him to ignore the vocal minority and that he should prioritize his well-being over pleasing some ignorant strangers.
Dan Spencer, you have no idea. When I first heard Stained, Brutal Calamity it was so intense that I felt physically exhausted. I don't know why it happened, i don't know how it happened, but I'm sure not many musics in general can do that...
The first time I ever heard it, I could absolutely feel the pressure the song radiated. It ain't easy but when done right like this, a song absolutely can intimidate you
I just want to repeat a suggestion made in the comments because I really agree. I think you should do the Risk of Rain 1 & 2 OSTs at some point. They are amazing
@@Firnen718 years of harassment towards Dokuro. Basically people thought Dokuro “owed” them Supreme Calamitas’ theme, and would not stop spamming and threatening him. Y’know, the usual thing with fandoms.
My favorite part of the calamity ost is that each boss theme fits the boss absolutely perfectly. Desert Scourge is most likely going to be the first boss you fight, so he has an almost hopeful feel to his song, as you’re just starting out on your journey. Crabulon is kinda a joke boss, so he has kinda a joke theme. Also crab so crab snappies. The perforators are bloody abominations of flesh and sinew, so give them a super evil, super dark death metal theme. The Hive Mind is a dark, evil being, in control of a creeping corruption set to take over everything. He has an equally evil theme to accompany him. Slime god is literally the god of slimes, which do a lot of jumping, so give him a heavy hitting beat to accompany those massive impacts. Cryogen is essentially an ice elemental but turned up to 10, so he gets a fittingly icy sounding theme. He also moves extremely unpredictably, so the drums stutter like there’s no tomorrow. The brimstone elemental’s theme is as sad as it is because of her lore, where she lost everything she once had. The aquatic scourge is canonically very closely related to the desert scourge, so he gets a remix of the desert scourge’s theme. The genre is liquid DnB because, well, I don’t think I need to explain why. Calamitas’s theme is so dramatic because she acts as a teaser for the final boss, which is also why their themes sound remarkably similar. The leviathan trilogy is the theme of two different entities: the Leviathan (obviously) and Anihita (which I probably spelled wrong). Their lore lies in the fact that they were two different creatures from the sea who were in need of help. The leviathan was aging, and couldn’t feed itself, while Anihita was is a situation similar to the brimstone elemental: losing everything she once had. That’s also why songs one and two sound somewhat sad. (Also, that synth is supposed to be Anihita singing). Then the big mama jamba comes in as the leviathan and starts doing her thing (aka ripping the player twelve simultaneous new ones) which is why that guitar starts up there. Astrum Aureus is a robot corrupted by an otherworldly virus. That super aggressive synth at the beginning is the robot part, and the fact that it sounds like doom music is from the alien virus part. Astrum Deus is the god of the aforementioned cosmic virus. That’s why he shares similarities with Astrum Aureus. The Plaugebringer Goliath is a giant mechanized honeybee equipped with bioweapons, nuclear bombs, and the hatred of about a thousand angry wasps. That’s the reason for the super synthetic sound of the song, and also for that buzzyness. Ravager is a construct of bone and death designed to kill, maim, and murder the forces of whatever is thrown at it. That hint at a major key comes from the fact that it’s technically supposed to be on your side, but that hatred has made it completely indifferent about who it kills. Providence is a giant fire moth that wants to set the world on fire and watch it burn, potentially at the same time. She is disgusted by both good and evil, and wants the world to become nothing but indifferent ash. That celestial feel at the beginning of the song is due to her divine nature. The profaned guardians are essentially her underlings, and they do whatever she wants them to. Their theme is essentially a more synthetic version of providence’s theme. Polterghast is a conglomeration of souls furious at a tyrant who tormented them when they were alive, driving them to seething madness and unrelenting hatred. That ghostly arpeggio at the beginning is because, well, *ghost.* The old duke is old. Okay there is more to him than that. He’s supposedly very wise and very, very angery. So, like any grumpy old man, he’s gonna give you a whoopin’ for steppin’ on his lawn. Therefore: VERY ANGRY GUITAR. The Sentinels are the personal minions of the Devourer of Gods (aka DoG), which is why they share major parts of his theme. The Devourer of Gods, a giant worm capable of ripping holes in the fabric of space time and ripping apart deities with the intent of eating them. The grandiose theme fits him not only because of his personality, but also because he was the first boss ever added to the mod. Dragonfolly actually used to be another joke boss, but was changed to be at least a little more serious. He has one of the weirdest, most unpredictable AIs in the game, so the fast paced and rapidly changing feel of its theme fits it to a tee. Yharon is the faithful companion of the big bad of the mod, Yharim. He is loyal to a fault and will lay down his life in service of his master. The first song gets across the dragon part, while the second gets across the loyal companion part. Supreme Calamitas. The as-of-now final boss of the mod. A witch with mastery over the forces of brimstone and necromancy, forced into the servitude of Yharim against her will. She is incredibly powerful, but her backstory is incredibly tragic. All these aspects come through in her theme, the power comes through the metal parts, the final boss aspect comes through in that insane choir, and the ending is sad due to the pain she has endured throughout her life, only finding peace after you defeat her in combat. DM Dokuro is an incredibly talented composer who I look up to for so many reasons. He may have left the community, but his memory lives on in the themes of each and every boss to hold one of his songs. o7 Also this was way longer than I ever intended Jesus Christ Edit: I forgot the adult Eidolon worm. It’s a remix of the lower abyss theme, made extra intense because your chances of beating this thing are about zero.
beautiful comment. though just a thing, Calamitas doesn't die at the end of her fight, she simply decides a truce with the player, letting them get to the tyrant, Yharim.
Absolutely awesome reaction and I adore the explanation for the music. It goes a long way in showing how much effort the artist put in and what we can learn from them. Thank you!

Dan, as a diehard DM DOKURO fan you have my thanks for sitting down and really just appreciating the hard work he’s done for the mod and for the community.
To me, the entire Astral Infection themed songs are just perfect. Heaven's Hell-sent Abomination and all the themes derived from it alone just sets a mood for a beautiful alien-like environment that is holding a sinister yet apathetic secret. A perfect piece for the Astral Infecrion itself, but also for any type of otherworldly entity that isn't immediately terrifying; like if Cthulhu hid his true form.
I love music reactions because it tends to recontextualize the music you know so well, and I forgot how absolutely _filthy_ some of these pieces are. It’s beautiful
I'm so happy that you've decided to react to this ost, it's one of my personal favourites and I loved seeing your reactions. only thing that makes me sad is that he didn't listen to antarctic reinforcement (structured mix) or the songs from the other calamity composers, they're all so underrated!
Cool fun fact: DMDokuro, who I'm sure you know composed these amazing songs for the amazing mod actually sang for Roar of the Jungle Dragon and I think Stained, Brutal Calamity. Also, promise us you'll come back when there's more. Supreme Calamitas is the current end, and Draedon's Exo-Trio already has a temporary soundtrack. More music is coming. More of your reactions are desired.
I've watched this video probably 50 times over now. I wish more people would do reviews on this amazing OST. Thanks for reviewing. I really wish DM Dukuro didn't disable commends on his channel, because I would be commenting compliments every time I listened to a video.
Calamity is an extremely intense experience in a very good way. I recommend you take it a bit easy tho, It can get a bit overwhelming. Oh and by all means, combine it with the Terraria Overhaul mod for some juicy stuff, you’ll probably see, but Overhaul really adds to the whole thing. Another great one would be Unofficial Calamity Music Mod. That guy put a lot of effort into it. If you like music, and Calamity’s atmosphere, you’ll like it. Man, how I wish I could just react to these songs for the first time again. It's just too good. Also as a note, Yharon is Yharim's (the basic "god" of terraria) pet. Kinda sad when you think about the lyrics relating to Yharim and Yharon instead of just random stuff.
slight correction, Yharim is not a god, he's instead a tyrant and pressumebly the strongest mortal in terraria. The closest thing to actual 'god' in calamity is Xeroc, a.k.a the thing that watches and commentates the Boss Rush.
@@Garbo_trashcan also apparently the final boss after yharim. The rock you get from the boss rush apparently has something to do with the summon... Or well. That was planned atleast.
Fun Fact: Roar Of The Jungle Dragon Lyrics Are From The Perspective Of Yharon (The Boss aka Jungle Dragon), He Sings To His Master Yharim (Main Villain Of The Mod). Also In Previous Versions Of The Mod Yharon Had To Die Before His Second Phase Activated, So When That Track Made Into The Show It Was Hype
@@Justsomeaverage You could Consider The Player Not A Hero Since He Kills Inocent Creatures Like Anahita And Leviathan. But At The Same Time, The Player Defeating The Devourer Of Gods Is Probably One Of The Most Heroic Acts, Since The Devourer Killed So Many People And Creatures

Hope you'll do Terraria's original OST now! Seeing your reactions to these songs was so much fun haha. The original OST is a bit more tame than Calamity's but it's still a worthy listen!
did you catch the tuned drums at 2:10:07? i love that part every time. By the way, the choir in that song sings actual lyrics not gibberish, and they are really good!
The ending of Stained, Brutal Calamity always gives me the feeling of victory, but at a significant loss. Like ashes coming down as the protagonist sits there all bloodied up and his greatest foe lying lifeless in front of him. The world around him is burning, the sky is red with fire, buildings are destroyed, and the protagonist can't even stand because of how exhausted he is. But he has won, and he is taking in the burning world around him. The major key piano and the bells ringing give off the sound of triumph, but that measure of dissonance tells you that he has suffered greatly to get to this point, raising the question of if it was all worth it in the end.
I almost 100% agree, the entire theme for the DOG is FANTASTIC! But the one song I cannot help but appreciate more than that is Roar of the jungle Dragon. Though more realistically for me its a tie.
After 3 months of patiently waiting and voting for it in every poll, there it is. Thanks Dan for this, probably the best reactions I had seen from you.
2:17:18 makes me almost cry every single time, especially with the context of the mod's story At the end of the song, "I feel like we just won something"... gameplay wise yes, story wise no Also fun fact: the choir actually has lyrics here! They're almost unintelligible to me, but there's a few youtube videos with subtitles for it and they add a lot to the song I'd also like to see you check out terraria's ost itself
Dokuro is very good at taking an idea and expanding it. That’s how he made so much great music for this mod, sad that he left the team (for good reasons, harassment and all) I would have loved to hear what he would have done with the exo mechs theme, and the other superbosses to come.
Hits different when brutal calamity plays and you realise you're at the final boss and how many good times you had playing the mod, stained brutal calamity always brings a tear to my eye looking back on how much fun I had and then the final boss was defeated before I even knew it.
Thank you for the great reaction, had been looking forward to this one for a while and it's so delightful to see you give it a listen. Normally i don't like to leave comments and such, but i wanted to give the biggest recommendation to the soundtrack for Risk of Rain 2. Which i went in to not expecting much, and yet time and time again listen after listen it absolutely blows me away with just how good it is. It is truly something special, and think you would love it a whole lot. But besides that just thank you again
Dokuro has truly made something that is beyond its purpose but was greeted with pressure by the Terraria community frequently asking for more. Some people didn't see how lucky they were to have such an awesome person that dedicated real hours into these songs and how they fit the Calamity's purpose almost perfectly. One day I want to make songs as incredible as these.
Calamity has a pretty chad OST. The mod would most definitely not of gotten as far as it did if it wasn't for all the hard work, dedication and skill of DM Dokuro.
siren's warcry is hauntingly beautiful.. gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it. DM Dokuro, you have forever left an imprint on me with your phenomenal tracks.
Return to slime and roar of the jungle dragon have always been my 2 favorite songs, at least until I got to the point in the game where I actually HEARD all that music
I still remember the original no-hit Yharon quest. It took SO long to happen compared with basically anything else in terraria. But that was also before the original fight had RotJD.
I love how this genuine love for music just eminates from this video, really enjoyed this! Also this makes me remember back when dokoru was releasing one piece at a time and everyone was just waiting for the final boss and its track
If you want a good mashup of some of the tracks, I recommend checking out the The Devourer of Gods (Nonstop Mix), it's a 14 minute long mashup of Servants of the Scourge, Scourge of the Universe, and Universal Collapse that come together to form one long complete track
I might be the only one suggesting this one, but I would love to hear you react to Risk of Rain 2 OST by Chris Christodoulou. His work is amazing, every time he releases a new song I tell myself its my favorite one, and then a new one comes and its just an endless loop. They are all bangers!
This soundtrack makes Calamity so much more than just a Terraria mod. It would not be the same, not even half as good, without Dokuro’s work. One of the best and most impactful projects I’ve witnessed

this whole ost i really think it's one of the great game soundtracks, ever it's amazing how one person can make this, and just for a mod of a game dm dokuro did not have to go this hard when he was composing the soundtrack, and yet he did
What I absolutely love about DM DOKURO is his theming. I'll reel off a few. First, with Guardian of the Former Seas and Outcast of the Sulphurous Sea. I like to call Outcast the rehydrated version of Guardian (and, if you play the game, the names relate to the lore :) ) Second, with Wasteland and Toxic Wisdom. Toxic is just Wasteland revamped; made into a rock track (idk genres, but you get the gist). Listen very closely to the trumpet solo in Toxic. On that note, the Acid Rain theme is another revamp of Wasteland, more on the EDM side (again, idk genres). Once again, the song names relate to actual places and bosses in the game. Third, with Raw, Unfiltered Calamity. It is a combination of previous songs in the OST (all from bosses), whether in actual notes that were transposed, or just the style. Here are a few to listen to: Guardian and Outcast in the beginning (melody?), Blood Coagulant in the background (guitar rhythms), Antarctic Reinforcement (style of drums), and Left Alone flute solo (style). I left out a few, see what you can find :) At the end, it introduces Calamitas' theme, which we see again in Stained, Brutal Calamity. Fourth, with Interlude #2 (Storms before the Catastrophe), it reflects Ravager's theme a lot (Open Frenzy). With Interlude #3 (Catastrophes before the Calamity) again we see Calamitas' theme, hinting at what is to come. Finally, with Pest of the Cosmos and The Heaven-Sent Abomination, Pest is a revamp of Abomination, and seeing how it is the biome's biggest boss, it makes sense. I skipped quite a few, so see what you can find on your own. :)
@@averageuraniumconsumer4856 I am not, and especially wasn't at the time of writing that comment, old enough to have any major life events to feel accomplished over. I don't like almost every form of competition, nor have I had anything I really felt like I needed to work towards personally. Omg I was looking for calamity music reactions but I found like none and your reacting the all the themes god bless you and I know what I will watch tomorrow also sub for sure ^^
A note while on a hour and 2 mins in If I recall, the bells referred to by the calamity mod community as the 'calamity bells' are used mostly in the post moonlord bosses so it's fitting that they'd be put in the interlude that would happen after moonlord. They make each theme more grand and powerful, a warning of the danger to come.
This set of songs really blow me away, and they really do complement how you interact with the enviroment. Biome themes from the unervingly quiet abyss to to the tranquilizing sunken sea to the energetic boss themes. I can't express how much i love calamity's music.
Legendary OST, absolutely amazing. My personal recommendation is one that I have given before but here it is again: Any of Chris Christodoulou's works: Risk of Rain Risk of Rain 2 Deadbolt all are worth a listen!
This reminds me of the comment on the raw unfiltered calamity music. "WAIT IF CALAMITAS THEME IS CALLED RAW, UNFILTERED CALAMITY DOES THIS MEAN SUPREME CALAMITASES THEME IS GONNA BE CALLED COOKED FILTERED CALAMITY?" The comment was hearted and was at the top but dokuro never gave a response...
Fantastic reaction, Dan. Watching you react to the really meaty sections of the guitars made me chuckle at how much you were enjoying them. While it isn't exactly a video game soundtrack, if you're looking for something to chill to, I'd recommend Fathoms by Autumn Orange. It's western lofi based on a character from a live d&d campaign, with a unique twist in that there are vocals, but they are taken directly from the character in the Live-streams and edited together to form a somewhat cohesive story. Really fun stuff! I *highly* recommend.
You should provide a link to the composer in video or at least mention his name in the video. He poured his heart and soul into this soundtrack and he truly deserves the recognition.
Leviathan trilogy is the best thing in the entire OST Siren’s Call really gives off the feeling of something beautiful lurking in the waters. And that is exactly what a siren does, luring in people with beauty. It makes you feel a curiousity to investigate, with the echo making it feel like its coming from somewhere distant and hidden behind a heavy fog. This gives it the chance to pounce. Siren’s Warcry. It opens with a drum like a punch straight to the face. It makes you realize that this beauty was a real threat with intense power behind it. However, it stops itself from truly going over the top. With quite a constant and consistent tempo. Much like how there is still something far more dangerous further below. FORBIDDEN LULLABY. The section has an intense in-your-face opening. Much like how the leviathan lunges out of the water to join its comrade in battle. The immense size of it makes you feel like you are up against something grand. Something mighty and ancient. This is a battle that will give you an adrenaline rush like never before. The addition of the electric guitar in this section amplifies this feeling. The creature is slow, but packs a punch and is constantly on the offensive. And then the climax. The leviathan, who had arrived to save its comrade, is in need of help. The only way to defeat this enemy is to work together. Giving it their all and putting both of their lives in danger. All to save each other due to the bond they had formed.

Theres a specific arrangement of the Scourge of the Universe related pieces that the artist put out called Devourer of Gods Non-stop mix, thats basically what they’d do if they put all those pieces into a single continuous piece of music, and in my opinion it is the perfect version of those songs.

This is probably the best description I’ve ever heard for the OST, cause it all holds true. What a fascinating mod and OST.

@@Junistheog Tbf by the time you face yharon you have literally defeated a profaned goddess and a devourer of goda
That ghostly arpeggio at the beginning is because, well, *ghost.*
The old duke is old.
He may have left the community, but his memory lives on in the themes of each and every boss to hold one of his songs. o7
Also this was way longer than I ever intended Jesus Christ
Edit: I forgot the adult Eidolon worm. It’s a remix of the lower abyss theme, made extra intense because your chances of beating this thing are about zero.
beautiful comment. though just a thing, Calamitas doesn't die at the end of her fight, she simply decides a truce with the player, letting them get to the tyrant, Yharim.

"A crab and its mushrooms. A love story." I absolutely love Calamity mod.
For anyone who may be curious, here's a list of every theme in the video (which is not every theme in the mod) and where it comes from.
Most of these are boss themes, but they're somewhat out of order. Some are biome themes, and a handful are unused.
I've kept the themes in the order in which they appear in the video. Hopefully I got them all, let me know if I missed any.
Minor spoiler warning: the names of bosses will be given, and the fact their fights have phases will be mentioned if relevant. Also, some locations will be named.
The first is the title screen theme:
Tale of a Cruel World - Title Screen
The following are enemy themes. All are bosses unless otherwise specified:
Guardian of the Former Seas - Desert Scourge
1NF3S+@+!0N - Crabulon
Blood coagulant - The Perforators
The Filthy Mind - The Hive Mind
Return to Slime - The Slime God
Antarctic Reinforcement - Cryogen
Left Alone - Brimstone Elemental
Outcast of the Sulphurous Sea - Aquatic Scourge
Raw, Unfiltered Calamity - Calamitas
Silence before the storms - {unused}
Siren's Call - when ??? is nearby (a particular enemy that acts as a boss summon)
Siren's War Cry - Anahita (before the Leviathan appears)
Forbidden Lullaby - Anahita and Leviathan (after the Leviathan appears)
Cosmic Disgust - Astralgeldon Slime (a removed boss)
Interstellar Stomper - Astrum Aureus
Pest of the Cosmos - Astrum Deus
Fly of Beelzebub - The Plaguebringer Goliath
Open Frenzy - Ravager
Storms before the Catastrophes - {unused}
Unholy Ambush - The Profaned Guardians
Unholy Insurgency - Providence, the Profaned Goddess
Feral Amalgamation - Polterghast
Toxic Wisdom - The Old Duke
Servants of the Scourge - Sentinels of the Devourer (kinda. There's 3 of them, and 3 variants of this theme actually play in game)
Scourge of the Universe - The Devourer of Gods (phase 1)
UNIVERSAL COLLAPSE - The Devourer of Gods (phase 2. And yes, it's all uppercase)
Murderswarm - The Dragonfolly
Infernal Catharsis - Jungle Dragon, Yharon (phase 1)
Roar of the Jungle Dragon - Jungle Dragon, Yharon (phase 2)
These play when you're in a certain biome:
The Step Below Hell - Brimstone Crag
Heaven's Hell-Sent Gift - Astral Infection (surface) (this theme has been replaced in-game)
The Heaven-Sent Abomination - Astral Infection (surface) (replaced Heaven's Hell-Sent Gift)
Treasures Within the Abomination - Astral Infection (underground)
sanctuary - Sunken Sea
Hadopelagic Pressure - Abyss (upper 2 layers)
void - Abyss (4th, the lowest, layer)
More enemy themes follow:
Threats of the Ocean Floor - Adult Eidolon Wyrm
Catastrophes before the Calamity - {unused}
Stained, Brutal Calamity - Supreme Calamitas
Eulogy for the Ego - {unused, as far as I can tell. The wiki doesn't even list it. On DM DOKURO's channel, it seems to be a variant of Scourge of the Universe)
Finally, the trio of themes involving storms, catastrophe, and calamity, are "interludes", meant to be listened to at certain points in the game, but unused in-game
Damn very useful comment cause I barely remember what any of the tracks belong to lol.
Anyways i know I'm a bit late but you missed "Wasteland" the sort of surface for the sulphuric sea.
i think threats of the ocean floor is for abyss minibosses (ur reapershark and normal wyrm) i might be wrong
Dan, as a diehard DM DOKURO fan you have my thanks for sitting down and really just appreciating the hard work he’s done for the mod and for the community.
Crabulon's theme really went from "okay I like this" to "here's a neat tidbit of info" to "F U N K" in a matter of minutes
I share the same exact opinion. I love the astral infection. My favorite tracks definitely
Same, love how oddly beautiful the Astral Infection is despite its danger
my favourite part of the ost is in "stained brutal calamity" when supreme calamitas yells "it's calamityn time!" , cry everytime.
TRUE😭
Supreme calamitas is truly the calamity of all time

Cool fun fact:
DMDokuro, who I'm sure you know composed these amazing songs for the amazing mod actually sang for Roar of the Jungle Dragon and I think Stained, Brutal Calamity.

@@Garbo_trashcan That would be why the word god is in quotes. I more or less meant what you corrected. Thanks anyway.
Also, the first quarter of Stained, Brutal Calamity was from the perspective of Supreme Calamitas.
I thought we are the villain(player)

The D.O.G soundtrack is the best imo. There’s just so much going on and it feels like an entire saga just put into one legendary musical masterpiece
I almost 100% agree, the entire theme for the DOG is FANTASTIC! But the one song I cannot help but appreciate more than that is Roar of the jungle Dragon. Though more realistically for me its a tie.

2:17:18 makes me almost cry every single time, especially with the context of the mod's story
At the end of the song, "I feel like we just won something"... gameplay wise yes, story wise no

Dokuro has truly made something that is beyond its purpose but was greeted with pressure by the Terraria community frequently asking for more. Some people didn't see how lucky they were to have such an awesome person that dedicated real hours into these songs and how they fit the Calamity's purpose almost perfectly. One day I want to make songs as incredible as these.

dm dokuro did not have to go this hard when he was composing the soundtrack, and yet he did
thank you for the sheet music 👍
Imagine Toby Fox and the creator of Calamity music make a song together
What I absolutely love about DM DOKURO is his theming. I'll reel off a few.
First, with Guardian of the Former Seas and Outcast of the Sulphurous Sea. I like to call Outcast the rehydrated version of Guardian (and, if you play the game, the names relate to the lore :) )
Second, with Wasteland and Toxic Wisdom.
what ive learned from dm dokoru is living in florida for 4 years and getting anxious about your voice makes you an amazing music artist

Great point! There are those on some OSTs, it would be a good SOP to do that. Thank you!
If you listen to the video he clearly says his name
Leviathan trilogy is the best thing in the entire OST
Siren’s Call really gives off the feeling of something beautiful lurking in the waters.
