Thanks so much 😊 I'm pleased to report Bon Bons is back home with us now post op, she is very sore, but still insists that she wants to do all the things and very frustrated with her confinement life after only 1 day lol. I'm hoping that once she knows the routine she will settle down a bit. We have a new doggy stroller arriving Monday so she can come out on the walks for a breath of fresh air without the walking bit, plus I can push her from room to room in the house so she doesn't get left behind - she doesn't like being left behind in a room and watching Honey swan off with the humans lol. I have my appointment this week so hoping to get some answers over the coming weeks. I'm sure when Bonnie gets use to the new way of life she will give me time to do an update video

Poor Bonnie... I hope she recovers quickly and well!
I had a pit-mix puppy (Chance) when I was a teen who had a similar issue. I don't know if it's just that veterinary medicine has gotten better with this sort of thing since then (this was in 1998, so I would hope so😅), but it was recommended that we amputate the limb rather than put him through the pain of the alternative. We did ultimately take the vet's advice and I'm glad we did. Chance recovered well and I don't think he ever really noticed he was missing anything. He still ran us all ragged for the remaining 12 years of his life 😂

So I’ve actually been down both roads you discussed at the end. First your doggie. My (now dearly departed) dog had knee surgery years ago for a torn ACL. She was confined to crate rest for 8 weeks after, no stairs, all of that like yours will be. Only she was a 40lb medium sized mixed breed and it was a good thing I was young and had a good back at the time because carrying her was a LOT. So the first nights they come home are really hard. They had my dog on some strong opiates and she was high as a kite and very confused and it was hard to see her like that. I ended up sleeping on the floor next to her crate for three nights and her cat (who very much loved his dog) would enter the crate and sleep with her to calm her. So all that to say is those first few nights are VERY stressful, but things do settle, so try to not be too anxious about it. One thing no one warned me about what that she would be so constipated from all the opiates from the surgery so I fed her a lot of canned pumpkin to move things along so it wasn’t terrible for her. But yeah I had to watch her like a hawk and because she was a larger dog there was a strict no furniture rule for months because I couldn’t risk her taking a leap onto her newly mended knee.
On the second thing- I have rheumatoid arthritis and for me it presented not as the classic swollen joints (although they eventually happened) but initially it was bad health and fatigue and then my feet just seemed to crumble and they hurt so bad despite the fact that I’ve never worn “bad” shoes. The first rheumatologist told me everything was all in my head. Took me another four years to work up the nerve to find a second and it was actually a kind foot doctor who sent me to someone who was very good. And initially he was like “something’s wrong, but it’s not clear yet.” So he trialed some medicine, and in the meantime it became clear in about a year when the RA started to present classically. He told me it takes about 6 years for autoimmune patients to get a diagnosis, and usually three doctors. It took four different trials over two years to land on a medicine that worked for me. So I tell you this to say that autoimmune diseases are really hard to diagnose and you have to fight as a patient. I had symptoms years before my blood work finally turned and it was a constellation of weird things that no one caught until I saw the second rheumatologist. So just know that you may not get answers right away and that it’s always worth to keep pushing if the answers they give you don’t seem to be enough. So my advice before you see the rheumatologist is to write down all your symptoms, how often they occur, and when they occur. Type it up so it’s clear and succinct on a sheet of paper and give it to them. Be very specific and don’t be vague. And when you go in to tell them why you are there have your reason boiled down to a two minute speech and have the sheet to give to them. That’s how they take you seriously. They’ll do a bunch of blood work but a good rheumatologist will also physically check all the potential problem spots in your body and don’t trust one who doesn’t. (Mine feels all my joints and moves them looking for swelling) they should be poking you like a prize pony. Also know that x rays only show joint damage when it’s badly damaged, and they don’t show joint inflammation. Ultrasounds show much more (how I was diagnoses) and specific MRIS show a lot. Anyway those are my basic tips, and if you want more advice on it, let me know and I can email you. I’ve been through the wringer with it and I really hope you don’t have to go through it yourself.
Good luck. May august go smoother than expected.

Dear Teresa, your stocking looks great your boss is going to love it. All of your stitching is always so beautiful. Sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well. I pray that the doctors find a solution for you. Tomorrow is August 3 so I just now heard about poor little Bonnie. She’s lucky to have such a loving mom as you. She’s going to enjoy sitting with you while you stitch, I remember how your other little pooch loved sitting with you. I saw someone suggest that you have one of those little pens for upstairs that’s a good idea also maybe a ramp on your deck for those two steps I don’t know if she can hit do a ramp . Poor little puppies. Please take care of yourself. I always look forward to seeing your videos you are a real joy. Even if you don’t have anything to show for Stitching, maybe you’ll pop on to let us know how you’re doing, I feel like I’m visiting with a good friend . You are in my prayers sweet lady.

Thank you for your lovely comment! Your kind words mean so much to me. Bon Bons is home post-surgery now, very sore, but that doesn't stop her from thinking she can do all the things; she is very confused about why she has to stay behind bars even only after 1 day - I am sure she will adapt over the coming days. Your support makes sharing my videos a joy, and I'm grateful to have you as a wonderful stitching friend in this community. I'm sure I will find the time in the coming weeks to post an update on how things are going. Sending you lots of love and gratitude! 🌺❤️🙏

Today is the day before surgery for Miss Bonnie. Sending all the love and healing vibes to you both. I hope for cooler weather, so being in doors is one less thing to manage. I hope the surgery is boring and efficient.
Check with her Vet and I hope she wont need it. Our fur babies would be successful with this bland diet for awhile: cooked brown rice, Gerber (baby food) chicken and gravy, with pumpkin. Especially if Miss Bonnie struggles between loose and/or being blocked up. She will have lots of pain meds which can cause blockage.

What a lot going on Teresa. Im wishing Bonnie a successful op and a speedy recovery, it’s no fun post op trying to keep pets settled at all, hope she doesn’t mind her new routine for a while. Hope you get some answers re your own health, take acidophilus capsules for your tummy along side your anti biotics, they will replace the good bacteria’s, high strength garlic capsules too to keep any fungal growth from occurring and grapefruit if you like it. Love the finish, it’s going to look great made up, I enjoyed your update, enjoy august despite all the things going on 🙂

I’m so sorry you’ve been ill. I’ve had kidney infections and they are no fun. Also, we have a 97 lb German Shepherd who had his hip replaced a couple of years ago. We slept downstairs with him the first two weeks and then rigged up a blanket and between the two of us and carried him upstairs at night. We have two steps outside and carried him down and then back up again for the first couple of weeks also. This was a real laugh riot let me tell you. My hubby and I are sixty…yeah. My upper body got really strong. When hubby was working I even got good at lifting Archie up and into the car for vet appointments. One question, you are so great at sorting things out can you please tell me what kind of chair you have? I have one I bought years ago for my sewing machine but I need a nicer one like yours now. Thanks for your videos, I just love them.

Please take care of yourself. Menopause sucks on so many levels. It took me years to get beyond all the fallout from “ the change”. Glad you are consulting a rheumatologist- mine was helpful, but also added a consult with an immunologist. We went to great lengths to bolster my own immune system and things are much better. That said, I still get infections worthy of antibiotics but usually clears with a normal length course. Hang in there. Hope Bonnie and her knee do well.

I would love to see how the stocking is finished! Im planning on making one for the MIL but haven't made a stocking before
Im sorry to hear about the ongoing health issues, it's a massive mental health strain to be constantly unwell. Ive been there before and was fed antibiotics until they ran out of different ones to try. I was eventually referred to a specialist who took less than 20 min to diagnose the issue. There's still hope yet for you Teresa!

Thank you for your lovely comment. Bon Bons is back home with us now post op, she is very sore, but still insists that she wants to do all the things and very frustrated with her confinement life after only 1 day lol. I'm hoping that once she knows the routine she will settle down a bit. We have soft crates, play pen and now a new doggy stroller arriving Monday so she can come out on the walks for a breath of fresh air without the walking bit, plus I can push her from room to room in the house so she doesn't get left behind - she doesn't like being left behind in a room and watching Honey swan off with the humans lol.

I know how scary it can be to plan for your fur baby. I have 2 Labs and 1 of them has had both her ACL's repaired. Sounds similar in some ways to your pups surgery, shifting bone with plates and screws. She had to be confined for 8-10 weeks. It's work to keep them both happy but you can do it. The pop up should be great since she can't jump in it. I would plan separate potty times for less stress on you. I found snuffle mats and frozen kongs to be helpful to burn off a little energy. It'll be over before you know it.

Prayers for Bonnie. That little pen is cute, but make sure that Bonnie or Honey can chew a hole in it. If they get a hole started, it's game over for her isolation. Glad your mom is doing so good.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Lots of hugs and love to you and Bonbon!! I had an English Springer that had to have both hips replaced when she was 14 months old. And we had eight dogs (thats another story in itself). I love the popup you got for her! Heck I'd get two, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. We built a ramp so our dog could get in /out of the house easier. The Other dogs knew she was on the mend, and we taught them their boundaries. I believe with all my heart it will work out! As for you sweet lady, I am so sorry to hear about your health issues. 15 Years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast cancer, and my Oncologist said (once all the surgery and treatment were done) the main thing I needed to do going forward was to reduce the stress in my life. And boy she was right. Take care and know lots of hugs and love is coming your way!!! We will see you again when you are ready. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Aww wishing wee Bonnie all the very best for later this week - I really hope its manageable to keep her contained and that Honey doesn’t fret and pine about it. Poor wee fluffers. Wishing you and Darren all the best for the recovery process. Also the games are at a much more social time over here, in the host country so please send your mum over hahaha. My brother has been to a couple of games as it is so so cheap!! Like $10NZ a ticket which is probably about 6 or 7 quid! Hope your health issues resolve, and that you can get some stitchy time in at some point (obvs when it fits round Bon-bon). I loved your stocking finish, so pretty! Take care, Nic x

I have my appointment this week so hoping to get some answers over the coming weeks. I'm sure when Bonnie gets use to the new way of life she will give me time to do an update video. The stocking is now with the lovely friend who has agreed to do the finishing - fingers crossed I should get it back mid September and I can share the final FFO before it is handed off to my boss. My mum will be so jealous when I show her this message, if she was a few years younger for that price she would have gone to most of the matches for that price lol. Happy stitching!

Kidney infections….even without allergic reactions to antibiotics….truly pack a punch. Like any major organ (think lungs and pneumonia) it is normal for it to take three months before one feels back to normal energy levels. I don’t now how you have managed to keep working …..I was off six weeks recovering from the one that I had! I really hope your rheumatology consult next week is insightful and you get the answers you are looking for. Hugs to both you and Bonnie……I hope her surgery went well and she is recovering as one would expect. You have put in a lot of thought as to how this six week period will look….no doubt the plan will be tweaked as you see how things unfold. Thankfully time flies so before too long all of this will soon be in your rear view mirror and you and puppy will be in a better place! Take good care…..and take time to rest and heal!

I totally understand your concerns about the girls and trying to keep them apart. We also have two fur babies and have had them both spayed, but at different times. Just keeping one of them from the other was the biggest part of our days as they each recovered. I'm glad to hear that you are looking into what's going on with you. I have to agree that I don't think menapause is the cause of all of this. You're starting the journey to getting it sorted out and that's a positive step, imo. Take good care. Looking forward to hearing how little Bonbon makes out. Hugs - Steph x

Hello Teresa, sorry I am late to this video and I hope Bonnies surgery has gone well. I am also so sorry that you have been really poorly and added insult to injury a reaction to the medication, well both medications. The problem is there are 2 names to nearly every drug and you need keep both in your head as sometimes it can be missed. I hope both of you are feeling brighter and are mending together. The stocking is amazing and I am sure your Boss will love and treasure it every time it comes out during the Christmas season. I am so pleased that mum is doing well and enjoying the women's football. Thinking of you all. One suggestion is to take really good probiotics while you are on the antibiotics to help your gut flora we recommend that to all our women that need to take prolonged antibiotics.

I am sending you good vibes on your health issues. That’s some crazy stuff! Make sure you get some good yogurt in you after you’re finished with your antibiotics.
Wishing you a speedy recovery (and Bonnie, as well)

Good luck with Bonbon’s surgery! You could ask your vet about using trazadone (a sedative) post surgery. I used it after my dogs spay surgery but also know another German shepherd owner who used it for their dog when it needed ACL repair and the dog had to be on crate rest for 8-12 weeks. While you may feel badly about sedating her, it may actually help ensure she rests and can heal properly. 6 weeks of keeping her calm so she heals is better than possibly having something happen afterwards. ❤❤

Oh I’m so sorry you’re going through so much right now. I hope the rheumatologist gives you some answers- I went for literally years with symptoms of my autoimmune disease- which contributed to the 2 premature births of my children- and was eventually diagnosed years later when the multiple issues it causes couldn’t be ignored anymore. So you definitely have my sympathy as I know how debilitating these conditions can be. And as a vet nurse, my heart also goes out to you for your BonBon. I work with an orthopaedic surgeon and do these procedures fairly often and I understand how scary it can all be. Sounds like you’ve got lots of love and care lined up her though- and that’s what she’ll need most to heal quickly. Thinking of you and wishing you and bonnie well xx
