    Theses are terrific videos, both part 1 & 2. Very informative and explained the options, all of which I have been looking at, very clearly. I have been considering a luggage system and found it unnecessarily complicated. Givi bars that need a plate but there are four of them?? I don’t understand why the options couldn’t be explained and illustrated better. Thanks very much.

    Great content, thank you so much for covering this topic in a very well explained manner and easy to understand! I was thinking of buying the ali-express rack too, however my take from your videos is to stay away from aluminium-based mounting brackets.

    Great follow up. The SW-Motech is on my short list for rack extensions. Pretty pricey but in its flexibility second to none. Also looks the sleekest imo when not using any adapter plates. Thanks for sharing!

      I’ve got the Givi rack and a mono key topbox on my 500X but I just bought an SW Motech rack for my Voge 300 Rally along with a fitting kit to take my Givi topbox. Im so impressed by the SW Motech rack I’m thinking of getting one for the 500X as well. As you say it’s a flexible system and looks so much better than the others.

    Thanks for your video! The only thing I don't like about the sw motech rear rack is that it removes the grab handles which are pretty handy when maneuvering the bike using your arms or lifting it when it falls down.

      Yeah, the original Honda handle grabs are very convinient....but you know, something for something 🙂

    It is about one year ago I find this videos. Your englisch is really good to understand. I am searching just this rack from Aliexpress. 16 kg is more then enough. But I did not find it on Aliexpress. May I get orderinformations please?
    Thank you very much

      Hello, as I mentioned in one of my videos (maybe part 2?), 16kg is the seller's statement, in the AliExpress message to my question. AliExpress stuff usually doesn't have technical specifications, this is also true. I have strong doubts whether it can withstand a dynamic load of 16 kg permanently. I wouldn't count on more than 8-10kg. The STEEL bracket (not aluminum!) can withstand such a load, as my tests have confirmed.

      I ordered from here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003286119361.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.10.21ef1802SpwxXk
      but just remember, first time I got aluminum brackets :-). Make sure, you get steel ones, if you go with this product.

      Hi...I would not sell it because of two reasons: 1) I am not convinced about the quality of the product 2) meantime I have installed on my bike to test the steelrack sometime when the weather will be better...

    Great job and very well explained. I'm wondering why you didn't consider shad system? I just bought bike and while researching this topic found out there is also this shad system where it's possible to keep oem handrails, it would be interesting to see it in action :)

    • @twofeetonthepegs
      @twofeetonthepegs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Somehow I did not come accross the SHAD rear rack for CB500X...When did they released it ? BTW, right now I have downloaded "The SHAD Top Master fitting" HOCX56ST technical specs (REF. 500479 Edición 1ª) and is missing key information: loading capacity :-) . In case of a Chinese product I would not be surprised of this, but in case of a European brand/design this is a huge miss....

    • @adnanomanovic2846
      @adnanomanovic2846 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twofeetonthepegs Well you are right about loading capacity. However Shad brackets use the passenger peg mounts so there is more support and stability for the box. All of the other brackets I looked at just mount onto the grab rail mounts so all the weight is on the rear subframe, so logically it should be more stable :)

    • @twofeetonthepegs
      @twofeetonthepegs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the "blue stuff" is threadlocker. This one I am using is "LOCTITE 248", is a blue, medium strength threadlocking adhesive in a non-drip, easy-to-apply stick form.

    hi i have watched your 2 videos a number of times. it seems you have installed the new steel brackets and there holding up ok good. I have also ordered the rack too for my Honda cb500f, the brackets that i will receive are stainless steel. Are your new brackets steel or stainless steel ?

    • @twofeetonthepegs
      @twofeetonthepegs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Onestly...I do not know. It was/is painted on black, so I cannot determine visually. According to the vendor it is steel :-) . 1020 Steel or 4140 , or other? I just hope it's 4140 or 4340 as it has higher fatigue strength compared to the 1020. They do not specify the grade and this a usual problem with Chinese products. Or if they do, it is not reliable... I guess even in your case the "specification" says sainless steel :-). But what grade? 303, 304, 316, 310 or 321 ?

    • @cameronshine3465
      @cameronshine3465 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as the grade 303, 304, 316, 310 or 321 he did not say, i think there grades would be close to each other as far as strength is. I only know about the 304 grade and 316 grade as i have some of these grades for making whiskey at home. @@twofeetonthepegs

      Yes, I did. So far it is holding up. Geometrically it is the same(thickness too - 4 mm), the only differnece is the material.

      After 18 000 km I can confrim, the SW-Mothech was the right choice for me. Most of the time I am using the top box, which performs very well, how ever for my Nordkapp tour I swapped the top box with the SW-Mothech extension plate.

    Hello, thanks for your video. How many weight can you put on street rack? Because i think your top case is about 7/8 kg empty. Thanks

    • @twofeetonthepegs
      @twofeetonthepegs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! No, the empty top case is not so heavy :-), it is made of plastic... It is only 2.1 kg ! Check this out: drive.google.com/file/d/1U1Mrlj2h9YxvnW-da7jFUMiHJlE2t3mm/view?usp=sharing
      The loading capacity of the SW Motech street rack is 12kg (that includes the mounting plate, the top case, and the useful load)

    Ouch, did it break on the road at 100 mph?

    • @twofeetonthepegs
      @twofeetonthepegs  ปีที่แล้ว

      It broke on the dirt road at ~20-25 km/h (~15mph)...but according to material science, that was a longer process. The brackets are subjected to cyclic loading (vibrations) and the material fatigue is a longer process. These brackets are made of "simple" aluminum...they should be made of special aluminum alloy (used in aircrafts for instance) or steel, calculation should be made and finally should be tested. The bottom line is that these aluminum brackets are not good, they were not tested by manufacturer/seller. (It should be mentioned, that this seller was fair, and sent me free, new replacement brackets made of steel)
