At 6:10, MSR recommend the top cross pole to be on top....yes it's more difficult to install, but do the top connectors prior the corners...

Yes cross pole needs to be in top. You will see a huge difference in high winds, it’ll stops the tent dipping inwards

Great review, thanks for taking the time out to show us this magnificent tent.

Good & spot on review! I have this tent & can endorse your positive comments. I have the American version of the tent with the composite poles & lighter color symmetric rainfly. In 2019 MSR went to a new thread design intended to further improve durability. It does this but also requires seam sealing the fly. I've had the tent out in several strong storms & was very satisfied with having a safe, comfortable dry shelter. I really appreciate the lightweight functionality of this tent. It is my go to for backpacking trips! Thanks for your content. Well done!

@@blubblab4238 I believe MSR provides tents with their latest improved waterproofing & thread design. In addition they are factory seam sealed. This is the case in the US. I'm not sure elsewhere. From the comments I've read the water intrusion issue was on 2019 models when the new thread design was introduced. My Hubba Hubba was factory seam sealed but I also sealed it to be sure their would be no leak issues. I really like the design, weight & performance of this tent.i also believe that the new thread design & waterproofing will greatly improve the life of the tent. MSR has an excellent help & information line. I recommend calling them if you have further questions. I did and this support was another reason I went with the tent.

Try looking at 1.5mm Dyneema cord for the extra guys to tether out. Breaking strain of around 110kg / 204lbs so easy enough for those

Great review! The short pole should be over the main pole in case of strong wind from the side. The plastic attachment can break if the wind pushes the short pole down from the side. That will not happen if the short pole is over the main pole.

Thanks Lars, I actually don’t have it anymore. I was out in a storm and the only part left was me and the plastic cross pole hub intact. Everything else destroyed. Great tent though!

Hiya pal defo getting one of these tents and thanks to your reviews wind and rain test etc. it's a definate goer but you really need to have the spreader pole on top of the main ridge pole for structural reasons to much physics to go into now pal as I've had a beer or two serious man don't want to sound like the pub bore but it's not a personal thing how you like that pole situated anyhoo buddy thanks for the vid and after hours and hours of researching it including your reviews I'm definitely getting one cheers pal atb 😀👍

Hi Jonny, It’s on a plastic ring, it makes no difference as the ring is either in compression or torsion on a single point. I don’t have it anymore to worry about. I had to sell it as I could not sleep in the tent for stressing about the top pole. 😂😂😂

To be honest I prefer aluminum. The carbon ones give you splinters in your hands.

I was looking at the NX2 version, but from most reviews, they leak from everywhere, so I am not so sure anymore, they do look great but at this price point, you should expect to stay dry at least !!
