Thanks! I was just looking at the Toaks 650 for the same reasons. My 550 is good but I wanted just a little more space and the 750 seemed a tad big for just a solo setup. Guess Im dealing with a goldilocks issue. :)
Thanks for the comparison. Have you tried using trekking poles, handle up, to prop up the apex of the arch? I heard that can help to prevent the arch from moving and collapsing in strong wind. I know the silnylon version has grommets for this purpose, but I don’t think they are there for the Li.
Do you need to roll back both vestibule doors to stand in the Niak - and can you open and roll back the doors without going outside?
@@KristianSloth yes
You look like a teenager in that jacket 😂
Hi, when you say they fit sloppy what exactly to you mean? Do they fit large? Tks 👍
@@holman2215 I have quite a slim wide foot so needed an insole. I think the knit top is too big personally. An insole worked for me fine, gives a bit more padding on bottom also.
@@evacoutdoors5867 thanks for the amazing fast reply 🙌
Nice
I’m having a time with mine too. Broke 2 drive belts cause the mf won’t stay true
Hi Evac! Amazing video!Thank you very much for sharing!I am about to copy all these steps. However I have two questions which I hope to get your suggestions. First of all,you had traced the outline of the mould at 6:17 but I’m not sure what’s that for?I didn’t see that trace was used later on? Also you mentioned that we should not tape glass fiber to the front of the mould at 8:26 because the scissor jack later will make the boot longer. But if we are using the jack to stretch the boot isn’t it going to be longer anyway? Looking forward for your reply! Bunny
@@morethannihao tracing around the initial mound was to judge how much increase there was, the front fibre was to punch out the toe. It all worked! No problems
Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed my WHW-Adventure in the same year in September. Greetings from Poland.
You have to wonder why you cut out the fly setup.
I really don't like these "sporty" seats with very little padding. I thought I was the only one who experienced this.
@@spinebuster9490 if you want to know after 18 months I think I got it right. The base collapses under the bum putting spine and legs out of alignment. I but some battens under the spring base, and it bit of thin plastic across the back. It’s the best I have had it.
You can just cut some light weight ripstop to the desired size and shape and use Velcro to attach it it the net door to cutdown on draughts. Suppose you use some red velvet curtain material to give the inside a touch of elegance 😊
I’m getting this this setup too. Thanks but Does that fit 4 leg support?
@@harrimus85 yes but I use the 3

Hi. Just wondered if you would still recommend the msr hubba hubba nx2 as a solo back packing tent for Long distance hikes. Really like the livability and space inside. How do you think the hubba hubba compares to the tarptent 2 man ? Thanks
@@siraidanofmayo7678 I think the Double Rainbow Li is the winner, less weight, pitches quicker no flysheet. I sold the Hubba Hubba.
@evacoutdoors5867 how come you got rid of the Durston xmid pro so quick? What is superior on the tarptent compared to the Durston? Thanks
@@siraidanofmayo7678 the footprint was massive, and if you watch my wind test you will see the difference. The rainbow for me has much better features.
I caught you saying that the poles are just over 12". The reason I didn't buy the Rainbow is because the listed lengths depending on the version is 16"-17"-18" which was longer than I wanted so I went with another tent. I wonder why the discrepancy on the tarptent website?
@@where2then yes maybe they are a bit longer than 12 inch in reality. They fit vertically in my backpack.

What are your thoughts on the MSR hubba hubba? I saw you made a great video testing the limits of the tent and showing some tips. Have you used it much? Is there anything to be extra ware of before buying? :)
Thanks for that, just followed you guide and it helped sooo much
I agree! I think this is the best all-around ultralight tent ever made. I’m absolutely thrilled with mine. Two months ago, I found myself in the midst of one of the most brutal storms I’ve ever experienced in my life. Trees were coming down around me, but this absolutely handled itself. I was amazed Friends of mine had their tents literally blowing away. The icing on the cake with this design is that you can still use it as a freestanding tent with the use of your tent poles or even a few sticks. I really don’t think there’s anything out there that comes close to the comfort, usability, design, and quality of this tent. Not to mention the vestibules and incredible open views. I would recommend purchasing the condensation liner. Not only does it work incredibly well to manage condensation, but it also helps provide more shade and keep the tent cooler.
Great video, I have the 1P version and it should be roughly the same.
Never again?? Why??

@@evacoutdoors5867 well, good to hear that. If it’s any consolation. It looked good when you were finished!

Hi You refer to the flap as the blend door, is this for cabin recirculation or are they different things? I assume they are the same and you were pressing the cabin air recirculation button to open and close the blend door?
@@sindalgraff yes I think it’s the same. Only one flap in there
Those Hanwags sure are comfortable from day one and do keep your trotters dry. I bought mine to replace an identical looking pair of Meindls on which both of the soles delaminated on the same day after maybe 6 years. Guess what? After a similar timeframe the soles on those Hanwags simultaneously delaminated just like the Meindls. I then bought a pair of new in the box old stock MOD Meindls which are of the same construction style. They both delaminated on the first walk around my local park with the dog. I bought a pair of second hand Meindl fabric boots of a similar sole design but with fabric uppers- they delaminated too but at least I got half a season of sedentary walking out of them. I'm about done with this Meindl / Hanwag type of boot construction. I've just bought a pair of Alt-Berg Defenders principally because the rand design is reminiscent of an old pair of Brasher Hillmaster GTX that I've had at least 30 years and are still holding up. They have no tread left but at least they haven't disintegrated and I never had wet feet with them either. Let us know how you get on with the Banks SF and I'll do likewise with the Alt-Bergs. Simply great video anyway- I'm three hundred miles away in the softee sarf and videos like this are just fantastic for me, so cheers and a belated happy birthday.
@@KL3NCH hi actually they leaked after making the vid, but hanwag replaced them no questions asked. Did Skye trail in them.
Thanks for the video! I have a 2021 and wanted to update the grill ❤
There is no substitute. A well thought out tent and I believe Henry Shires is the King of Tent design Sheila Vancouver BC
Great stuff. I saw a video of someone with this tent complaining about it's performance in strong winds but it looked like he didn't have it fully guyed out especially on the windward side. Good to know too that the updated model has better venting.

Excellent vieeo demonstration. This is exactly what I needed to see. I love you.
❤ the design coz I have the rainbow li, but the QC is terrible 👎 I will not buy tarptent which is made in china anymore.
The quality is actually far superior now that they’re made in China. They had quality control issues with their North American production.
kinda wish more of Vivo's low-cut models had stitching on the sidewalls like these tbh, it would solve a lot of QC problems people seem to complain about where the glue fails and the soles begins to separate from the uppers. i find the Decon Lows are more suitable as a versatile, tanky sneaker, basically like a beefed up Primus Asana. imo something like the Magna Forest ESCs are definitely better suited for muddy and rocky trail running, but it's still impressive to see how well the Decon Lows handle such terrain
@@Habanecro I wish they had Vibram mega grip soles as it’s like being on an ice rink on wet rocks.
Great views, beats being on the coast any day. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the quilt. Thanks for making the video. Personally i have given up on quilts as a single item use and find them a waste of money if we buy them to cut weight because i always need to clobber up with loads of clothes and it defeats the object . Granted we are all different but my initial gut feelings that i had when they first became popular was correct so i wish i had listened to my gut because i am on quilt number 4 now and from now on i am only ever going to use the 2 synthetic ones that i am down to as a top cover to protect my down bags I know you are a Cumulus fan and i am too and for an extra 200/250 you can have an Xlite 300 than will guarantee to keep you warm wearing just a base layer down to 5 degrees C plus you can stipulate the amount of fill you have below and on top, i have 65/35 on my Xlite and Panyam and they are the best bags i have ever owned.
@@Olan... thanks, I also have both the liteline and Panyam with the 35/65 fill. I guess with the quilts we have all options covered.
Thankyou for the video.....Just ordered mine
Thank for the review! This is the new version and every video I have seen so far used the old version without the backdoor ventilation.

Hi, this could be it for me, i have a 2 pole trekking pole tent that i like but the footprint is big and that can cause issues pitching. I have a free standing 3 pole hexagonal shaped tent that i love but its too heavy. My only issue is condensation, how have you found it on this tent. Cheers for the vid

no need for hip belt as you won t be carrying too much in it .The idea that you "transfer" weight is nt correct . Everything you wear and carry is carried by your whole body especially the legs and feet .if you re carrying 10 kgs or less , which you will be with that pack theres no need to add approx. 200 gr belt

Hi. You can attach the inner door strap to the back side of the magnet that you use for the outer door strap. Then you can undo the inner door without also undoing the outer door.
What part of June did you do this in?
About 20th.
You must be camping in a warm climate. In wet and cold conditions you need more gear, more clothing and more food.
This is a really useful video, thank you. Those air space backs make a huge difference. Next time find a table to save yourself bending down.
