Great idea re the alternative securing the top of the pack from the side webbing, I got the nanu 3 days ago after Atom Packs announced a new batch, I think they sold out in two days the 4 colour options, as I live in Cumbria the pack arrived a day after ordering 👍🏻
@@adrianstrand1120 the side straps are better and easy to do, just ask Tom for the bits. I also have a place there👍🏻
How long did it take for the postcrete to go off?
@@stevebrain5015 about 10 minutes.
@evacoutdoors5867 Ten hours or more for me. Lol
@ I used a 2 component polyester not post Crete 😬
@evacoutdoors5867 that makes more sense. Oh well. I see if I can stretch this boot 😆 🤣
Ok I gotta ask, did you lift the rear off the ground when you loosened the axle nut and then retorque it to 20lbs, and then set the rear back on the ground full weight on it before you adjust the cam? And the only way I kept anything from moving when I retorqued to 100 lbs was a big 1" 3/8 wrench on the cam side pressured down while torquing, you did all this and still had this much trouble?
@@fremont66 yes
@@evacoutdoors5867 Dammit man
@ I actually did it on the lift with a lock spanner on left, but yes it still moves as there is some play in the cam. Apparantly the new design does not do this. Or you can get adjusters.
@evacoutdoors5867 I used to heat treat metal and we used to get a lot of blanks in like these cams, sometimes the machines that stamped these out wouldn't do the greatest job, because the company that ordered them cheaped out so I see where you are coming from, the cams I have on my 07' SG are bigger than any I've seen on the videos on TH-cam, but I have not had any problem adjusting the axle and it not staying knock on wood.
Great video - I'm a fan of Outwell tents, so I'm always excited see other reviews. I particularly enjoyed the humor! 😂
Great demonstration, thank you
How was that better though
Comparison video where you dont even touch the second bag. Waste of time.
Do not buy this tent, go to msr and see the reviews
Congratulations! That was my post on the website where I asked where the piece that fell out of the car came from. I checked that website for so long but no one ever replied. The dealers estimate to repair/replace was $2500 USD. I said I will deal with the clicking. But now I may try again seeing that you succeeded where I failed. I will try to send you an email and pick your brain if possible. Great job and thanks for posting! 👍 PS-can you leave your email here so I can contact you please?
@@fumeokid you can contact here. Hope you can do it. You have to be very flexible.
Thank you this made my decision very easy. I love my Durston Kakwa backpack though!
its hard to call 25km/h winds blustery. thats hardly anything. wouldnt that be light breeze?
Hows the boots? Are they still comfy?
Tray v7, are much better than v8. No hot spots no blisters foot isvery secure. U can run down the hills. Good for long miles. Much better than mafate speed. I have both. They should be aviable in some shops but not for too long.
@@DeviusPL I’m mainly using for every day and hiking.
Hey brother!
Poor bird :( I hope it survived. Its frustrating when sleeping bags and quilts dont perform as per the stats isn't it.. Personally, i think there should be a global standard that should be enforced by some type of legislation because its false advertising and at worst, it could be lethal if someone got hyperthermia. I climbed for 10 years around mainland Spain and as much as i love the Spanish and their outlook on life they are buggers for making noise at nighttime on campsites and van wild camping spots. I always took pleasure in turning up my music first thing in the morning to get that taste of sweet revenge :) Childish i know 🤪 I know you are a fan of the Cumulus brand as i am too, have you got any of their down trousers ?? I am looking at replacing my Rab Argons for something lighter and the cumulus are a decent price but the sizes all seem to be tall and slim according to their chart.
@@Olan... no I only have sleeping bags and a jacket.
Good thinking. Thank you

Dağlarda gezmek için olur mu
I bought this tent several years ago and used it to do LeJog with my dog. Eventually sold it to a mate, I think I was bored with how perfect it was! Since then I’ve borrowed it back off him a couple of times to do a tour of the Lake District and another tour and really, I started to want it back. I just got a very good deal online at an end of season sale and I’ll soon have this awesome tent back in my cupboard ready for next year’s tours. It is an awesome tent.
After coming from a dirt bike background all they had to do was add a small lug on the swing arm and put notches in the cam plate. You then rotate the cam to the same notch on each side and do it up. Piece of piss. I’m doing mine now and can’t believe this is Harley’s engineering.
Thanks! I was just looking at the Toaks 650 for the same reasons. My 550 is good but I wanted just a little more space and the 750 seemed a tad big for just a solo setup. Guess Im dealing with a goldilocks issue. :)
Thanks for the comparison. Have you tried using trekking poles, handle up, to prop up the apex of the arch? I heard that can help to prevent the arch from moving and collapsing in strong wind. I know the silnylon version has grommets for this purpose, but I don’t think they are there for the Li.
Do you need to roll back both vestibule doors to stand in the Niak - and can you open and roll back the doors without going outside?
@@KristianGrSl yes
You look like a teenager in that jacket 😂
Hi, when you say they fit sloppy what exactly to you mean? Do they fit large? Tks 👍
@@holman2215 I have quite a slim wide foot so needed an insole. I think the knit top is too big personally. An insole worked for me fine, gives a bit more padding on bottom also.
@@evacoutdoors5867 thanks for the amazing fast reply 🙌
Nice
I’m having a time with mine too. Broke 2 drive belts cause the mf won’t stay true
Hi Evac! Amazing video!Thank you very much for sharing!I am about to copy all these steps. However I have two questions which I hope to get your suggestions. First of all,you had traced the outline of the mould at 6:17 but I’m not sure what’s that for?I didn’t see that trace was used later on? Also you mentioned that we should not tape glass fiber to the front of the mould at 8:26 because the scissor jack later will make the boot longer. But if we are using the jack to stretch the boot isn’t it going to be longer anyway? Looking forward for your reply! Bunny
@@morethannihao tracing around the initial mound was to judge how much increase there was, the front fibre was to punch out the toe. It all worked! No problems
Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed my WHW-Adventure in the same year in September. Greetings from Poland.
You have to wonder why you cut out the fly setup.
I really don't like these "sporty" seats with very little padding. I thought I was the only one who experienced this.
@@spinebuster9490 if you want to know after 18 months I think I got it right. The base collapses under the bum putting spine and legs out of alignment. I but some battens under the spring base, and it bit of thin plastic across the back. It’s the best I have had it.
You can just cut some light weight ripstop to the desired size and shape and use Velcro to attach it it the net door to cutdown on draughts. Suppose you use some red velvet curtain material to give the inside a touch of elegance 😊
I’m getting this this setup too. Thanks but Does that fit 4 leg support?
@@harrimus85 yes but I use the 3
FE stands for fecking eejit. Because as soon as the wind blows, it will be torn to shreds. As soon as it rains, it will fill with water.
Unfortunate that you skipped the best sections, the Italian & French Balcons
Hi. Just wondered if you would still recommend the msr hubba hubba nx2 as a solo back packing tent for Long distance hikes. Really like the livability and space inside. How do you think the hubba hubba compares to the tarptent 2 man ? Thanks
@@siraidanofmayo7678 I think the Double Rainbow Li is the winner, less weight, pitches quicker no flysheet. I sold the Hubba Hubba.
@evacoutdoors5867 how come you got rid of the Durston xmid pro so quick? What is superior on the tarptent compared to the Durston? Thanks
@@siraidanofmayo7678 the footprint was massive, and if you watch my wind test you will see the difference. The rainbow for me has much better features.
I caught you saying that the poles are just over 12". The reason I didn't buy the Rainbow is because the listed lengths depending on the version is 16"-17"-18" which was longer than I wanted so I went with another tent. I wonder why the discrepancy on the tarptent website?
@@where2then yes maybe they are a bit longer than 12 inch in reality. They fit vertically in my backpack.
Dammit. Why are the doors offset.

What are your thoughts on the MSR hubba hubba? I saw you made a great video testing the limits of the tent and showing some tips. Have you used it much? Is there anything to be extra ware of before buying? :)
Thanks for that, just followed you guide and it helped sooo much
I agree! I think this is the best all-around ultralight tent ever made. I’m absolutely thrilled with mine. Two months ago, I found myself in the midst of one of the most brutal storms I’ve ever experienced in my life. Trees were coming down around me, but this absolutely handled itself. I was amazed Friends of mine had their tents literally blowing away. The icing on the cake with this design is that you can still use it as a freestanding tent with the use of your tent poles or even a few sticks. I really don’t think there’s anything out there that comes close to the comfort, usability, design, and quality of this tent. Not to mention the vestibules and incredible open views. I would recommend purchasing the condensation liner. Not only does it work incredibly well to manage condensation, but it also helps provide more shade and keep the tent cooler.
Great video, I have the 1P version and it should be roughly the same.
Never again?? Why??
@@bysykler4959 life is too short, more to worry about than small marks, OCD now better.
@@evacoutdoors5867 well, good to hear that. If it’s any consolation. It looked good when you were finished!
You sanded the entire back of the guitar with the small bottle cap??
@@bysykler4959 no a proper block on the back from memory, it was a while ago. I would not do any of it again. Live with the marks.
Do you still use the zulu 30? IF so for what kind of hikes?
@@koszman no I sold it.
Hi You refer to the flap as the blend door, is this for cabin recirculation or are they different things? I assume they are the same and you were pressing the cabin air recirculation button to open and close the blend door?
@@sindalgraff yes I think it’s the same. Only one flap in there
Those Hanwags sure are comfortable from day one and do keep your trotters dry. I bought mine to replace an identical looking pair of Meindls on which both of the soles delaminated on the same day after maybe 6 years. Guess what? After a similar timeframe the soles on those Hanwags simultaneously delaminated just like the Meindls. I then bought a pair of new in the box old stock MOD Meindls which are of the same construction style. They both delaminated on the first walk around my local park with the dog. I bought a pair of second hand Meindl fabric boots of a similar sole design but with fabric uppers- they delaminated too but at least I got half a season of sedentary walking out of them. I'm about done with this Meindl / Hanwag type of boot construction. I've just bought a pair of Alt-Berg Defenders principally because the rand design is reminiscent of an old pair of Brasher Hillmaster GTX that I've had at least 30 years and are still holding up. They have no tread left but at least they haven't disintegrated and I never had wet feet with them either. Let us know how you get on with the Banks SF and I'll do likewise with the Alt-Bergs. Simply great video anyway- I'm three hundred miles away in the softee sarf and videos like this are just fantastic for me, so cheers and a belated happy birthday.
@@KL3NCH hi actually they leaked after making the vid, but hanwag replaced them no questions asked. Did Skye trail in them.
Thanks for the video! I have a 2021 and wanted to update the grill ❤
