    I was just doing my UT application and was super stressed, but this video really helped me calm down. I realized whether or not I get in is not going to define me, and I really can't change things I didn't do, so thank you so much for this video. I really mean that, all of the other videos I've been watching have made me feel a lot of pressure, feel really bad about myself, and this whole process has really been hard on me. I can tell you're a genuinely nice person and you don't act above everyone bc you got in, and you actually want to help people, so again, thank you :)

    They actually use a rubric to choose people that are accepted in the school. Like they give you points I guess based on what marks you hit. Or at least that's what I've heard from one of the administration videos. But your information was helpful. It would have been nice if you read your major essay or showed how your resume actually would look like.

    i'm 1st gen and straight up didnt know ANYTHING about the college admissions process until like this summer (i'm a senior lolz). the counselors are basically unreachable and dont answer emails, and i am just NOW finding out this genre of video exists 😭. I now realize my application is pretty weak (and it doesnt help that i'm in state but non auto admit) but oh well. I wanna major in bio, which i've heard isnt as competitive as something like architecture or business but im still super stressed. the waiting period after submitting is honestly more stressful than actually writing the application and i just wanna be able to chill for a minute.

      @linencastle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@marianaflores-cf2ki it's really not as hard as some people make it out to be, you can still be accepted if you dont meet the minimum requirements, you just are not guaranteed admission. It has a generally high acceptance rate at around 40%, just make sure you excel at something, whether that being sat score, GPA, or after school activities.

    • @totallynotme6720
      @totallynotme6720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@linencastle n...no. It’s very hard to get in. Yes it does technically have a 40% acceptance rate but that’s due to the guaranteed acceptance for top 10% in Texas. However UT is notorious for accepting people but not allowing them for their major. If we take that into account I’d say it’s way lower than 40%. It’s likely closer to 20-10 range.

    Great video!! My name is Andres, it's pleasure to meet you. I have a younger brother will be graduating from high school this spring semester. During my high school experiences, I did not take any APs nor honors due to my move because I had to switch schools from state to state for another year. I'm a military child, so I moved from state to state from age 5 through 21. I was born in the small town of New York, and I lived there for 5.5 years. I lived in 5 different states for 2-3 years, Virginia for 6-7 months, and Puerto Rico for a year. I grew up with my Spanish speaking family who are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I grew up speaking English, and I'm still improving my Spanish to become a fluent speaker. I also had a 3.71/4.00 as my unweighted GPA, which I was a top 8% of my graduation class too because I graduated from high school in the state of Georgia, so it did ranks exact the same thing as Texas. My HS rank was a 28/335. Also, I attended high school back in Killeen for 9th grade. I lived in Killeen for 3 years. I visited there two times visiting my family in my mom and dad's side of the family. For right now, I'm living in Florida. This is my last military move. My ACT score was a 12, and I still made it to community college. I've been studying for 5 years. I will be graduating with my AA degree in general studies in next spring semester. I'm in my sophomore year at a community college, and I still have 6 or 7 more courses till I graduate from a community college. I can't wait to attend university for my junior and senior year. I will be in a BA program for radio TV and journalism because those are my dream career. Television is my dream career. My younger brother will be studying computer science at the same community college as me for his AS degree. I grew up with Individual Educational Plan (IEP) during my school years. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3. For right now, I'm 23 years old. For my TV career, I want to be actor, singer, broadcast, journalist, film, and author. For my back up plans, I will work at a clothing store, office store, TJ Maxx, and target. Congratulations on your academics, you did a great job with your video stats. You have very great content. Before I graduate from a community college, I will chat about my high school and community college on my video stats. In this summer, I will attend to TV school to learn about a job for music and film industry as my career. Also, great job on your academics for your APs and honors courses. It's pleasure to meet you. Good luck at University of Texas in Austin. God bless you and your family. 🙏🏻

    It is interesting that the university now requires a written essay for admission. I think the reason for that is probably because there are many students with high GPAs, but in reality their grades don't actually reflect their capability for learning. So many grades now days are overinflated and given on a curve so that they don't accurately reflect a student's ability. But an essay, indicates a person's thinking processes and mental acuity. Even if an applicant uses a canned program such as "Grammerly" to help them write, those programs don't do anything in terms of idea development and expression. By the way, I am a UT graduate with two undergrad degrees. I am magna cum laude and cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi. Good luck at the university.

My gpa is 3.7 unweighted and my sat is a 1360 (did the sat only one time, didn’t study much and got a 1360 which honestly surprised me. With practice I can get a 1400+ for sure) but UT Austin is so hard to get into for engineering (I’m trying to do mechanical engineering btw) and I just don’t think I’ll be able to get in. I’m not top 6% either so that just makes me feel worse. As for extracurriculars I have like volunteering and clubs but it isn’t like high level research or any good internships which I heard UT expects if you want to do engineering . Really hoping I can get in but I feel like it’s gonna be a super low chance. I just want to know if my essays could impact me too much if my other stats aren’t really up to par. hey! it depends on when you submit your application. so if you submit your application after first semester, then they'll consider your first semester grades for admission. ok but also remember that they'll ask for your transcript at the end of senior year so they'll eventually have all of your grades but it won't matter as much unless you fail a ton of classes and they revoke your admission (this is from what i heard). hope that helps!

    hello, you mentioned in the video that you made your own club at your school. I was wondering how you did it?

      i just filled out a form for clubs and got it approved. i had to write out a constitution, find a teacher who would supervise, who else would be doing it with me, etc.

    For the AP classes, do the college administrators care more about AP tests or the grade? Cause i got a 94 for the class but a 3 on the test(it was 2020 testing)

    • @whatdidlinzsay3046
      @whatdidlinzsay3046  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i cannot speak for the college administrators but grades prob matter more. cuz your grades have to do with rank and gpa. your ap test scores just give you college credit. im pretty sure you don't even have to submit all your ap scores before your application. i doubt they check your ap scores but that's just my opinion :)
