pleeaaassee feel free to let me know if you have ANY questions at all! also disclaimer: im not trying to brag about my extracurriculars! in all honesty the number of ec's i did did not make me any better than other people in fewer activities (it's honestly better if you do fewer)! but i just loved being involved in different activities and i could not choose which ones i wanted to focus on so i did all of them!

Can someone explain what a super score is
When you take the ACT or SAT multiple times, certain colleges will take the highest combination of your scores, or super score. Say you got a 1400 with an 800 in math and a 600 in English, but then you took it again and got say a 700 in English, your super score would be a 1500.

this is so relatable!! all the other ppl w "realistic stats" were well over 4.0 gpa and 30 on the act, which i didn't find realistic, but after watching your video, I have more hopes now! I'm currently a junior with a similar stats and ec's, and this brings me more hope! thank u for making this video
man i'm really nervous :( im a sophomore and my grades, gpa, and ranking are pretty high but i have no extracurriculars because my parents Do Not understand how important they are so they dont let me participate in anything :(
Me too, I’m going to my junior year and I have no extracurricular. My parents are immigrant and it’s not easy for them to pick me up everyday after school :(
I'm a senior and I don't have many extracurriculars. Really regretting it, more than grades because a lot of the times strong ecs> avg. grades. But you're only a sophomore!! I would recommend looking up online volunteering, working/submitting to online publications (like student run ones) or you can start your own! Just find a topic you are passionate or knowledgable about and start a website for it (on wix). Eventually try to grow it and maybe make a club.

hii!! just know that you do not need to do anything in school. maybe if you go to church or the park a lot you could ask for volunteering hours there, there's many websites online that ask for volunteers. if you're good at writing or if you're an artist you can publish your work, you can start a foundation (like selling handmade stuff for money for a good cause), you can do academic or sport tournaments. you can start a server, club or website online (it would be good if it was for a good cause). or maybe your parents could let you help at their work, or you could find a physical/online job yourself. but def try to talk to your parents :( school offers many clubs that could lead you to extend your passions, and they're practically the easiest options.

As a student w. a 3.81 weighted (3.59 unweighted) and some bummy scores (1210 psat and 26 preACT) I feel good knowing that I have a chance at making it to college. I've done 5 AP's and did garbage so i feel good knowing i still got a chance :)
A 1210 on the psat is good! I got a 1240(I’m a current sophomore) and collegeboard said I scored in the 95th percentile! So don’t stress about the 1210

bro why does every bodies highschools offer so many honors and AP classes?? Mine offers like 7 AP and 7 honors classes throughout all of highschoool
we on the same page here, my HS only got 2 AP courses but every single class here is at the honors level so that’s good (specialized school) 💀
How is a 3.9 weighted gpa “average”? The average gpa is 3.0.
Usually weighted GPA’s are out of 5.0 so a weighted gpa of 3.9 is equivalent to an unweighted gpa of 2.9

Bruh I am a freshman and I am stressing rn... I really want to go to a really good college like Caltech, USC, UCLA and that stuff. My dream school is upenn but idk if with my grades and extracurriculars imma get it in... I have higher then a 4.0 weighted gpa rn but I feel like I need a 4.0 uw gpa and idk if I can get that throughout all 4 years of highschool...

Honestly grades are not the biggest thing in the world, I am in law school now and failed in high school. In Belgium you don’t need to get admitted to university but the stacks are really high if you fail, so even if it was hard I still did it so please don’t feel bad about grades to anyone reading this
welp it looks like im not getting into college bc i kept failing freshman and sophmore year and i see her grades and im like ooohhhhhh great
College is still an option for you. If your grades and scores extremely low, you may need to start at a community College.
I think your rank would be higher than top 40. I have the same grades and my rank was top 10 of 300ish

damn i wish my extra curriculars were that good tbh, im from Indonesia and covid here is bad and theres just not much opportunities for an internship. Right now I have head of arts for the students council, designed the yearbook with 2 other ppl, a part of the school’s newsletter, volunteered in some orphanage schools in jakarta and taught art/english, oh and also found the cure for cancer. k ye besides the last part, idk if thats enough cuz a lot of ppl sound like they are the head of clubs but tysm for the advice in ur video. Im just overthinking a lot lol

Hey! This video is super helpful. I was just wondering that if it mattered to take some honors classes freshmen year of highschool. I got all a’s and 1 b. They put me in regular classes but I’m just debating on whether or not to sign up for honors.
sign up for classes you think you can do the best in, but don’t forget to challenge yourself! if you do well in regular and think you can do well in honors, you should sign up for honors! the rigor of the classes definitely add to it but as long as you do well in your classes you’ll be good! good luck :)

this is really helpful, i can’t thank you enough :) im just stressed about my act score i’m really bad at test taking and I haven’t got a chance to take it again bc of covid. also, i took 4 community college classes that are weighted as AP’s and all the honors i could except math. Will colleges see that as challenging? Fordham and American are my dream schools, but I’m freaking out since I don’t really know if I have what it takes //:!!

You got this :) I know a lot of colleges are taking COVID into consideration when it comes to test taking which is good- there are also some schools like American or GW that are test-optional! And colleges will definitely see the classes you’re taking as challenging! The fact that you’re taking even more than one honors or college-level course is impressive :) Good luck!!

This isn’t realistic 😂 I have a 2.2 weighted gpa because I got all Ds in freshman year
Hafsa Moustapha most people ik including myself have a C average there all just lucky they have sports to get them into college but the reason my stats are so low is cuz since 7th grade I’ve barely been in school cuz of medical problems and it took me awhile to figure out how to keep my grades up when I couldn’t be there, so I’m not worried cuz they don’t just look at grades
