Would love more colored pencil videos!! I purchased a set of 150 Prismacolor in the spring & they are harder than I realized to use well… tho I could be due to the paper so I am ready to try again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was very helpful to see what works for you and watch your process. Very lifelike when done right. Thank you for sharing.
I enjoyed this video and would love to see more on color pencils. I have a hard time finding the three colors that work best. I have prismacolor pencils about 100 of them. I bought a 48 pack and added on over the past two years.
+Burghezi Gina I have added more pencil videos to the list 😂 Yeah, getting that blend can be tricky and each artist will suggest different pencils based on their favorite way to do it! There are no hard and fast rules, it's all down to personal preference and experimenting.
I enjoyed this video on colored pencils and would like more. I use the Prismacolor pencil sharpener (handheld) for my Prismacolors. I have no problem with breakage. A tip I heard somewhere was to hold the pencil still and turn the sharpener instead. That way you don't force the pencil. Works for me.
Wow, I love to see how you colored this beautiful flower ! Please do more videos like this one. I am a beginer and happy for each tutorial ! Thanks so much :-) Many Greetings from Germany :-)
Yeah it is tricky. I found that it was also to do with the pencil sharpeners for me. So some pencil sharpeners would just lead to regular breakages of the tip from where it sits in the wood. So frustrating. And when I changed to different pencil sharpeners, I think I listed them in the video description, I had better results. So give that a try too! Hope it helps.
I enjoyed this video very much and thought you did a beautiful job coloring the flower. Your tips and hacks were great. One thing I would like, as I am a colorist and love coloring in my adult coloring books, is a video done in real time so I can follow along. Would you consider doing a color along using Prismacolor or Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils? That's the 2 brands of colored pencils I have. I also have Derwent Inktense pencils that I am still very new and inexperienced with and would very much like to be comfortable and competent with them. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Beautifully done. I have Polychromos and when I am in the mood, I do love to practice with them. I find they are harder to work with than my Copics or Watercolours, simply because I am so heavy handed and that's what I need to work on more, being lighter handed. It's a beautiful image by the way, and will be perfect for an upcoming challenge I'm involved in. Xx
+Ruth Andrews - Crafting While the Baby Naps it is funny Ruth 'coz I'm the other way around, pencils are my comfort zone, I love copics but I found them harder so if I'm in a hurry I go with pencils. Pencils seem to have had a resurgence in popularity again, especially now polychromos are on the scene. But I really must do some copics work, I need the practice! 🤣 Thanks about the image! I am glad you like it 😄
That's great! I like that gamsol/ sansodor blended look too. I use to use it a lot but now I kind of go for the pencil texture, partly because I'm too lazy to blend with solvents 😂😂😂
I'm used to coloured pencils (including the sandpaper trick) but got Prismacolor for Christmas. Trying to understand the differences before getting serious. Also wanted to know if they can take fixative to preserve them. Any downloadable tips for general use would be great!
That's a really good-looking poppy how did you do it little lines like that when you trying to move your pencil and how did you end up doing that really well I'm also doing the same thing as well
Thank you Brandon. I am not sure I know which little lines you mean? Is it how I am moving the pencil? I often do these little flick motions, is that what you mean?
I was actually looking for a color palette for pancakes and blueberries, with syrup and found your video (totally unrelated) but was full of what I can certainly use. Can anyone out there give me the Prismacolor pencils colors for the above? Thanks, I'm stuck.

I recommend the Faber Castell sharpener because it Gives a Strong Sharp Finish
Thanks Jake. Which one? I've used the Faber-Castell Trio, it seems to do ok. Is that the one you use?

The sandpaper tip was so helpful! I always try to get mine to a point but they keep breaking

Great video - thank you :-) I use my Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol (called 'Magic Coloured Pencil') which is a fun technique.
