Jesus, all the people moaning about an overdrive into a high gain amp.... have you ever heard August Burns Red before? He's using the pedal for its primary function, to boost and shape the tone. Plus, Fluff has always been a high gain chuggy simple riffs guy, wtf do you expect from his channel? He runs his channel how he wants....if you want edge of break up tones there's plenty of channels that only do that.....i doubt they get many comments pissing n moaning how they're not boosting high gain tones.... there's so many channels on TH-cam that cater to pretty much every niche.
Since gibson bought mesa, they've blacklisted fluff so he doesn't get any sponsorship or endorsement from gibson nor mesa anymore. I can't imagine he'd want to give them free advertising
A lot of times it depends what you’re using to listen. If you’re watching on a phone it’ll be tough to hear the difference. Gotta be really good speakers or headphones
@@mbrighton1802 it helps if you try some in person. But, you’re not wrong to a point. There seems to be like 3 or 4 circuits that people make. Tubescreamer, klon, blues breaker. I’m sure I’m missing something.
Yes. August Burns Red uses them in the studio the pedal is designed to work with those styles of amps as a clean boost to make the tone tighter and more aggressive.
Stop bitching about how he’s using it. It’s literally intended to be used this way. Also, If you can’t hear the difference in the low end, get your ears checked
You started with a very sick tone! The pedal didn’t make any difference! You can’t hear it thru TH-cam, if indeed there is a difference. Demo with clean amp would be the logical thing to do!!!
I'm still relatively new when it comes to boosting, so i think my ears sometimes don't know what they're trying to hear? So perfect example is around 5:40, you noticed that you had to dial the Level knob back a bit as you felt like it was hitting your preamp a little too much... what exactly are you hearing? is there a sense of compression? is it a specific style of distorting/clipping that you find is undesirable? Remember how we all used to just crank the gain/distortion when starting out, thinking it sounded dope, but it was actually flubby and lacked any sort of definition? our ears didn't know any better... but we eventually learn to dial in the gain tastefully and realize we don't need as much as we thought. I'm in that phase but with boosting. lol. my neurodivergent brain really needs to understand what my ears are hearing.
Oh ... another Drive Pedal? It was only 3 minutes ago that 8 other manufacturers launched 12 new drive pedals, puuuh And luckily, they don't sound (almost) quite similar at HiGain.
Reviewing an overdrive pedal by wacking through an already gained up amp and then just using it as a boost has no value as a review for the pedal at all. We are no longer hearing the characteristics of the pedal but just hearing your 5150 / Marshall pushed harder. play the pedal on the clean channel so we can get an idea of the actual character of the pedal itself 1st. A million pedals would sound the same if your just using the OD pedal as a boost. as your just hearing the amps overdrive tones essentially. Come on Fluff you can do better dude. I have no idea what this pedal actually sounds like.
He’s very strange with demos. Clean tones used to be crunch tones until he got called out and now it’s “a joke”. Then he puts distortion pedals in the poweramp “so you can hear what the pedal sounds like”. Then does this. I kind of don’t understand it lol. It feels like I watch him out of habit at this point.
He is using the pedal in its consumer bases most common setup. It’s not supposed to be some big jhs video going into all the nuance. It’s the good homie just letting you hear a dope pedal and that’s what smooth brained metal dudes like me dig.
You’re upset about him using a metal overdrive pedal using gain. To hear how it sounds? This isn’t gonna be for a country band that needs a boost in his solo. This is straight up for metal
@@pure.panic.productions33 yer well the thing with that is any boost/overdrive will do the same job which renders this all a bit silly. If you swapped that pedal out for a tube screamer and then retested you would be hard pressed to hear any difference as the amp is doing all the tone shaping. If you wanna hear what the pedal actually does then need to play it through a clean amp, simple as that.
If you think you can't hear a difference in OD pedals boosted an already high gain amplifier. I dare you to guy buy a TS9 and a TS 808 and then try to tell us there is no different in tone, which I would say you're full of shit and lying. Because those to tube screamers sound polar opposite of one another. That's why us metal platers like videos like this that show different Overdrive pedals and tube screamer takes for high gain amps. And the small and various differences we can hear.

The level knob should be the level(er) knob. That’s dope, fuckin love those guys
Let us know if you’d like to try out our ‘The Noise’ pedal!
YES
You got it!
Dude The Noise is soooooooo sick!!!!
Yes! I want the Noise pedal bad but a lil too expensive for me right now
Amazing pedal
The overdrive market is saturated…pun intended
Sounds so clean and beefy incredible amount of sustain! 4:14
Just got my Constellations themed one and going to test it today!
I have The Hog pedal Tallon did in collaboration with Bilmuri and it has the most thick and unhinged drive I have heard.
Constellations variant looks sick. Play it through a Mesa!

💵 💵 💵 💵 Ill take one now, it is a must.
I have a lot of effect pedals, but this one sounds really good and it has a special character... and it looks good.🙃
Awesome shirt, and band!
The tallon hog pedal is my dream pedal, i wish i could get one in france.
Man I'm so confused when it comes to pedals. All these overdrives sound the same to me. I wish i had better hearing to understand

Do you think this would sound good on a 6505+?
Yes. August Burns Red uses them in the studio the pedal is designed to work with those styles of amps as a clean boost to make the tone tighter and more aggressive.
I woukd buy this just to collect it. It looks sick!
Did you have it on 9v or 18v?
The J&B's blues creamer wasn't that bad concept for a featurette. It never works out for me. Namastè.
Nice shirt🤙🏽

It sounds good but I have a hard time justifying replacing the TS9 on my board.
For a long time I thought your name was Ivan Fluff. Now I stand corrected. Sorry Ivbin.
