Viejo, realmente, las 2 primeras peliculas de Huevocartoon son joya absoluta. En serio, hay algo unico en ellas que realmente se siente tan bien. Se sienten de huevos. (Sin albur-)
I thought I was crazy for liking it so much it even creeped me out a bit when I watched it for the first time but I still loved it and i liked that it was darker (which is just like how I liked Shrek 4 and thought I was crazy for thinking it was good too)
Just to add to the conversation, the "la leyenda de la Nahuala" movie started as a university project in Mexico City, it always gives me so much joy to see such young people working on something that became so big, and it was actually straight ahead, at least that first one :'), great video!
Huevocartoon and the movies I actually found on my own accidentally, and El Chavo was my dad’s whole childhood, the live action one that is but I was more interested in the animated one whenever it was on Netflix.
Not many people really talk about it and it sucks especially since I'm so used to watching everything in English, so it's hard to find things of your culture in other languages
I want to give light on an animated Mexican movie that no one seems to talk about, even in the Mexican community. It was the first movie by Anima estudios (same creators of the Leyendas series and Top Cat movie). It's called "Magos y Gigantes" or Wizards and Giants. Also a flash animated movie. Not the best animation but pretty decent for it's time (2003). The plot itself is alright but entertaining for it's bizarre nature. Not sure if it has an English dub but I've seen Slavic versions of the cover. You can probably find it online somewhere. I also want to mention that Legend Quest is an AU of the original movies. Even if you haven't watched the original movies, not much will change by just watching the series. Personally, I'm not a fan of legend quest as I expected it to be mainly associated with the original movies. My guess is that they made these changes to adapt to an international audience.
Top Cat the Movie is a staple of my childhood years. I'd say it was the DVD i watched the most. The 2016 prequel Top Cat Begins, a fully CG movie also done by Anima Estudios, is also pretty good too.
Filipino here, I got a say. Ever since 2020, I left the Western animation fandom for a while and despite it's not Mexican animated movie, it give me a reason why I love not only Latin American animated movies, but also international/foreign animation as a whole that was named Nahuel y el Libro Magico/and the Magic Book. and what's even better is that one of the animation director worked in Legend Quest. I met him and he wasn't all that bad. He seems to be a cool guy. Heck, Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio did put a lot of effort to give Mexican animation as a chance to shine! The Point is that Mexicans maybe still be not be on top YET, but sooner within years or so, it became the most recognizable country's animation industry just like Japan, Chile, and Ireland!
I feel like sadly it's obviously going to be overlooked by major studios in the US but Pinocchio and Villanous are a step forward and show that we have that potential
Mexico loves animation and all. When i visit my grandparents, in mexico city. The amount of tagging i see of tim burton movies, gravity falls, coco, and other animation movies. Idk why people haveny given mexico a chance. Ive seen they are super creative.
In Mexico villainous were shorts in between cartoons. Like bumps ok adult swim. Meixco has had bumps in between cartoons that they made. Since not a lot of money put into cartoons in mexico. Including voice acting. It is great with the little stuff we do have. Cartoon Network used to do bumps where they had their cartoons living in one city and basically cohabitating together. Mexico made their own as well. And then they made other bumps and now it evolved into what we have as Villainous now.
I love to see that mexican animation crosses over all latin america and how a lot of people in different countries has experience the same nostalgia towards it. Not only with animations but also with tv shows like 31 minutos (gracias Chile por crear esa obra maestra).
I loved watching Ledgend Quest when i was younger! I especially loved how they’d go to different countries and fight their respective monsters, i havent seen it in awhile though, so im not sure how it holds up now.
YES, YES, YES, FINALLY SOME RECOGNITION OF LATIN AMERICAN ANIMATION! The eggs movies were definitely my favorites, the 1st and 2nd ones are so good bro, thanks for making this video, more people has to notice the Mexican and overall Latin American talent in animation, it may not be the best, but they're worth a watch.
Mexican animate films that come to mind is Nikte and El Camino de Xico. Cantiflas had an animate series. There's a Nezahualcoyotl movie being made, but looking for a funder. That villians cartoon, i only know about it bc of victor and valentino cartoon which is a mexican american twin peaks. Familia del barrio was an online animation cartoon that was on comedy central in Mexico.
One really amazing action mexican cartoon series that people forget about a lot were the cartoon network series, "El santo vs los clones" in which about a wrestler who is like a agent 007 parody that fights classic monsters suchs as mommies, franskenstain, wolf man and wolf women and more.
I really wish that Villainous had gone the Helluva Boss/Lackadaisy route with crowdfunding & airing on TH-cam. I'm sure TH-cam demanded full IP rights to the characters & couldn't even be assed to air the series outside of South America despite there being a demand for it.

You should make a review about old Mexican animation, I have few in mind and these are frame by frame…”Katy La Oruga, Cantinflas Show, El Mago de Los Sueños” I’m sure there’s more but these are all I can remember for now.

this video made me realise how different things are through each country, and sometimes even states. Like for me in Louisiana we have quite a bit of differences from other americans despite literally being in the same country, and its crazy how jumped up that is for other countries.
no way. i thought el gran milagro was just a fever dream when i was in catechism.. honestly im glad you brought it up because i never remembered the name of it
I was born when Mexico was still called New Spain...a long time ago. Cantinflas made educational cartoons which are still sooo cute. There was also a cartoon with Quetzalcoatl which is gone for good. I saw them I the 80's but they were much older.
I still remember getting a Huevocartoon CD at one of those piracy stores (if youre mexican, you know what i mean). Apart from the damn screamer at the introduction and one of the videos being literal porn, i would sit for hours watching the cartoons. Such nostalgia ❤
There is this other movie by Anima Studios called "Imaginum". When I was little, it creeped me out so much, especially the ending. It has lots of nasty humor, but I reccomend it ❤
An unknown gem is "Ana y Bruno" by Carlos Carrera which is kind of like "Foster's home for imaginara friends" but make it creepier and raise the stakes. Also, the protagonist's mother is treated like an insane person which is pretty sad
Lowkey! The second movie of the huevos is in my opnion better BECAUSE it took itself more seriously. the humor is on par and the story is super entertaining and cool and so quotable (I say the Penne pasta joke everytime my mom makes pasta lmao). but the animation is such an upgrade too!!
Bruh I grew up with otra pelicula de huevos and like...I love the animation!!
Though the plot is pretty dark considering what the witch egg want
I thought I was crazy for liking it so much
it even creeped me out a bit when I watched it for the first time but I still loved it and i liked that it was darker (which is just like how I liked Shrek 4 and thought I was crazy for thinking it was good too)
I absolutely love the Huevos Cartoon movies (mostly the first two movies) as a kid. I am just happy to see other people talk about it.
same, the first one is especially so funny bro
The kid from the 8
As latinos that's like the most awkward thing to translate in our entire lives.
It's such a pain in the ass fr
Just to add to the conversation, the "la leyenda de la Nahuala" movie started as a university project in Mexico City, it always gives me so much joy to see such young people working on something that became so big, and it was actually straight ahead, at least that first one :'), great video!
Huevocartoon and the movies I actually found on my own accidentally, and El Chavo was my dad’s whole childhood, the live action one that is but I was more interested in the animated one whenever it was on Netflix.
Props to u for giving a fair and respectable English-speaking critique on Mexican animation 👏
Not many people really talk about it and it sucks especially since I'm so used to watching everything in English, so it's hard to find things of your culture in other languages
Oh damn, una mexicana with the accent, a weeb, and a shitposter, my typa girl. 😂 seriously tho, good video, brought a ton of childhood memories
Oh yeah I actually have never heard of it, I mean I was 1 but I mean it's a first movie you're testing the waters.
This movie was super good!!!
Really glad you made this video ,no one really talks about our animation 🥲
I can never find anything good talking about it so fuck it, do it myself
Nos Brasileiros lembramos do México por causa do "Chavo del Ocho" (Chaves) por que Chespirito é simplesmente foi o maior Comediante do Mundo! 😆😆😆
Es el mejor comediante mexicano sin duda
Top Cat the Movie is a staple of my childhood years. I'd say it was the DVD i watched the most. The 2016 prequel Top Cat Begins, a fully CG movie also done by Anima Estudios, is also pretty good too.
A fellow Mexican raised in the US🫡
As a Mexican Guatemalan that was born in the US. El chavo del ocho was EVERYTHING and still is for me
I love El Chavo del ocho, few shows make me laugh like that one
@@awkr_wave2002 El chavo is a jewel for the centuries
Filipino here,
I got a say.
El Chavo del 8 is SO good, based, there is a reason why it was and is. 'El programa numero 1, de la television humoristica'

Worth mentioning a couple of web animations like killer pollo Vete a la versh and familia de barrio
Vete a la versh FUCKING SLAPS, it's definetly worth mentioning even though I was mainly focusing on big media, but those web series SLAP
Love the references in this video, just shows how much of a fan of modern media you are!
I am indeed, it's a gift and a curse
I remember growing up with Chavo del 8 a lot with both the live action and animation. I heard the news of them passing away back in 4th grade
I was about to cry ngl
I loved watching Ledgend Quest when i was younger! I especially loved how they’d go to different countries and fight their respective monsters, i havent seen it in awhile though, so im not sure how it holds up now.
YES, YES, YES, FINALLY SOME RECOGNITION OF LATIN AMERICAN ANIMATION!
The eggs movies were definitely my favorites, the 1st and 2nd ones are so good bro, thanks for making this video, more people has to notice the Mexican and overall Latin American talent in animation, it may not be the best, but they're worth a watch.
If anything they're just a fun time at worst
Oh my god i forgot about the heuvos movie, i remember watching sauage party and kept trying to remeber a movie that reminded me of that
Mexican animate films that come to mind is Nikte and El Camino de Xico.
VILLANOS OH MY GOD I had completely forgotten that that was mexican animated
When I first clicked the vid and hear the Lo-fi Mexican morning song in the background, I knew this video was going to hit hard.
Hahahaha the music really does make it
Im surprised you didnt mention Magos y Gigantes, I remember it being really hyped when I was a kid in the early 2000s
One really amazing action mexican cartoon series that people forget about a lot were the cartoon network series, "El santo vs los clones" in which about a wrestler who is like a agent 007 parody that fights classic monsters suchs as mommies, franskenstain, wolf man and wolf women and more.
Those huevo stickers you got from a bag of chips were the shit. I had eggminem, Korn in huevo form. And a Celia Cruz one.
One of my friends actually found one of the cards from the card game the had I DIDNT EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT. And apparently it's like rare or something.
I really wish that Villainous had gone the Helluva Boss/Lackadaisy route with crowdfunding & airing on TH-cam. I'm sure TH-cam demanded full IP rights to the characters & couldn't even be assed to air the series outside of South America despite there being a demand for it.
I'm Mexican American (raised in the US) I can't speak Spanish or at least well, so I got to thank you for this video, I've been trying to find animation from mexico but haven't been able to understand the people talking about it
I was playing this as background noise while drawing and I was so confused when the anime audios started 🙃 lmfao
Dude, my childhood 😭😭
I sometimes forget most Mexican animated shows besides El Chavo Animadio, Villainous and etc exist.
Yeah... it's hard to find them, especially decent ones
Such an amazing masterpiece as "Taquero Mamon"

My God, you should see "los chicuarotes", that actor redeemed himself in that movie, and it changed my perception of him, he is actually a great actor.
And "the CQ" is shit
I dont dislike him as an actor, and like I said he's got a nice voice. It's just....the flashbacks.
Villainous definitely seems to be the most popular thing on here. As an American, I've seen it pop up a fair amount of times. I heard it's gonna get a proper US release soon so maybe I'll check it out sometime.
You should make a review about old Mexican animation, I have few in mind and these are frame by frame…”Katy La Oruga, Cantinflas Show, El Mago de Los Sueños” I’m sure there’s more but these are all I can remember for now.
I am not Mexican but Panamanian, I am surprised that not even one of the animation TH-cam channels has talked about the Huevocartoon movie until now.
Dude IT NEEDS MORE COVERAGE
"Shrek is demonic (yes I was actually told that)" ...he _isn't?_
....I mean
I'm really happy that someone talks about the mexican animations,it really isn’t something that gets talk a lot and some of them are pretty good
Didn’t realize the title for una película de huevos was a double entendre 😂 that one and la leyenda were definitely staples growing up 😂😂
Oh my god I’m not even Mexican ( I’m not even Latino ) but La Leyenda de La Llorona was my favorite movie as a kid, I’m so glad that you talked about that series ( ? )

Nah man give them a shot, even if at times they can be bad I've honestly found them a but entertaining
I'm disappointed you didn't talk about Rudy Gloom. It was a great show in Spanish. Also has an English version. And it a cute kids animation. I remember also seeing a lot of Spanish short films that where a lot like Ruby Gloom.
I haven't seen lots of those, and honestly at least at the top of my head I don't know Rudy and Gloom but Imma look into it
@@awkr_wave2002 the show is called Rudy Gloom. It was popular as a Spanish little kids show because it had a little skeleton girl. Personally I don't like the English dub. But maybe not a lot of people watched it. I do know thenother short flims I've seen have kinda the same art style or have skeletons qs the characters.
do you mean Ruby Gloom? ive tried searching for Rudy Gloom and either its Ruby Gloom or google hates my fucking guts. i watched Ruby Gloom as a child and loved it because of the whole spooky casual vibe of the show, felt refreshing. my favorite character is Misery
There's another animated movie from México but it's only for adults, at least what I can remember. Is El santo contra la voluptuosa Mendoza

Ah, a trip down memory lane.
got this in my recommended, thank you for putting me onto some animated shows/movies I legit would have never heard of otherwise living in the States
this video made me realise how different things are through each country, and sometimes even states.

Does anyone remember Brijes? It’s a kid’s movie but it was more focused towards action rather than comedy. It had a pretty cool concept
There is this other movie by Anima Studios called "Imaginum". When I was little, it creeped me out so much, especially the ending. It has lots of nasty humor, but I reccomend it ❤
In the same vein, "00-P2" is also a pretty good movie if you're looking for a laugh and it has a message about climate change
My favourite anima studio movie is "Magos y Gigantes". I replayed it so many times I ended up scratching that DVD 😂❤
(ps. i also hate the third and fouth movie,,, i was like nah as soon as i saw the cgi)
Aprecio un friego este video. MUCHAS gracias por esto. La animación mexicana se la puede rifar fregón, y el efecto que tuvo Villainous y El Libro de la Vida muestran que tenemos un madrero de potencial.

a lot of these are a big part of my childhood, una pelicula de huevos/2 and la leyenda de la nahuala are among my favorites and el chavo is a classic. I also remember watching a movie called brijes several years ago that was pretty good. Greetings from cuba btw
I think someone else mentioned Brijes, geez I really gotta start with the list of movie people are recommending me here
I grew up watching these shows and movies, like the huevos movies were some of my favorites as a kid, confi was probably my favorite character.
