Really helpful video thanks Sam! To give anyone some hope I passed mine yesterday. I am 51 female (BMI 33) oesteoarthritis in my knee. I practised with the prison officer app and managed to get to level 4 when training. The real one felt much slower!! Main advice: dig deep, when your body wants to give up, keep going if you want to pass you will! I saw a few of lads and lasses on the session before fail, if they just grit teeth and worked through - they could have passed. Just don't give up. It's 3.5 minutes of your life - you can do it. Best thing that worked for me was reaching for the line and practising your turns. Good luck anyone reading and due to test!
Hi Sam, Purchased your book watched countless podcasts and you have motivated me to push to go Into the prison service. I have recently passed my fitness test & medical just waiting on vetting now. Just as an update the push and pull exercise has been removed currently 😔, all other exercises are still in place. Love you series and hope you and your family are all well and safe 🤙🏻
@@RealPorridgePodcast shall do Sam, all the best in the future also. Just a request it's ok if you don't want to do a blog on the topic but could you cover with your knowledge in regards to vetting/pre-employment checks as alot of upcoming officers have so many questions but not many avenues to turn to for answers. Many thanks and yes really enjoying the book 🤙🏻
The services have lowered their fitness standard for years . Any relatively active human would piss the prison service test trust me x don't fear it guys and girls .
Hi Sam, they don't do the push and pull anymore. It's grip test, shield hold, agility, beep test, don't know why. I've done mine only a couple of months ago. Start the job Monday. Love your videos.
@@achabidi1239 For some reason my blood pressure shot up to the point where I wasn’t allowed to take the physical!!! No idea why, as I tested it the day after at home and it was absolutely fine. I’ve been doing the bleep-test at home. I’m not saying 5.4 is easy, but it’s very do-able. I’ve been running to level 7 just so I know I’ve got a buffer. All the best for tomorrow, let us know how you get on!!!!!
Oh no that's a bummer mate Hope my blood pressure eont let me down got 4 hour drive before the test and all I will definitely let u know how it goes tomorrow Many thanks
I have my second beep test in a few weeks, I have CRPS, and I am trying to show that you can live with this disability, without amputations, etc, it's not an easy one, having pins & needles 247, 365 days a year, but having had this condition almost 5 years now, I am almost ready, to do the job I have pushed for almost two years, with rigmarole in the timing and waiting, I did not allow for the quick turns and ended up getting a stitch, and therefore had to bow out, but I have never actually failed anything I have set out to achieve, so I am training every day, & wanted to say thankyou for the inspiration, I am going to do my very best to get where i was ten years ago, fitness wise. I have passed all the tests & vetting, and have a provisional Job offer, this has motivated my soul, as My Grandfather if he was alive would be proud as punch, having served in WW11, he was a humble man but his story is Phenomenal, and full of hope, He is my No1 inspiration in this life, along side my sons. I am getting on as they say, but am convinced this means nothing, and will do my very best to smash the second test. Thank you to Stevie, & Thank YOU. I look forward to watching more of your vids. Oh & is that a modified Superbike behind oneself? I am a road race flag marshal in my spare time, (Olivers Mount marshals, oneninefoursix trained me & gave me a job when i could barely walk), legends all of them.
Non of that testing wen I joined in 1975, just checked your eyesight and that was about it.Ironically enough it was at Strangeways, everything was done in the one day.I applied to join in may and was working by July, far easier then
The army ten mile run once a month carrying 68lbs in full clothes ,less than 2 hours or fail .i beleive its changed now , its more about carrying 40ltrs of fuel in Gerry cans a 100 meters ,or carrying a freind on your back a mile .makes sence now .
Interesting very good, The police test every 4 years can you lift a BIG MAC ,Or carry these 10 chinese in a bag upstairs to the office ,Can you step in a van without a lift up and a push .
Believe it or not back in the mid 90s rugby use to only have to manage level 6. Then it went professional and the england national standard become 12 i think it 15 now... I use to hate it because it you have to keep running faster and faster i managed 13 but proper buggered lol.
Bleep test...lost count of how many times I've done that...thankfully passed every time...retired now and don't miss it one bit! that looks some beast you have at the side of you in the garage and I don't mean Stephen What make + model is it? Cheers bro...si thi
Hey so I went for my test last Monday I’ve had a personal trainer for 6 weeks and managed to get to 5.5. On the day the guy stopped me around 4.4 saying I didn’t hit the line quick enough 😞. I’ve rebooked it it’s in 4.5 weeks but now do I improve my stamina without getting out of breath ?. I wondering wether to bother going through it all again please help ?. I know it’s nothing to some but bearing in mind I came from pretty much doing no excercise
@@24voley 4.4 aint far off you know! Level 4 has 8 lengths to it. That means to get a pass you only need to run up and down 8 more times. That's 120 metres, which I know sounds a lot when you're gasping for air and your legs are wanting to drop off, but you can do it!!! I always find that it's good to count the lenghts off as you run them. Level 1 has 7 lengths, the rest have 8. Either count down or up, but I find mentally ticking them off helps. Also tell yourself that after you've got to Level 3, there's only one more level to go before you're almost done! Last tip is to mark out 15m, look up the 15m Bleep Test on TH-cam, put your headphones on and practice daily! You'll soon be smashing your way up to Level 6!!!!!!! Good luck!
@@Norton1531 awww Thankyou!!! I just need to push through that breathless bit lol I’ve got 2 weeks till my test so not feeling very hopeful lol but I keep practicing x
@@24voley Remind yourself that the breathless bit is only temporary. The run doesn't even last 4 minutes in total. 4 mins of pushing yourself will be worth it once you land your job! Which prison you hoping to go to? My application is for HMP Kirkham (Lancashire).
