Greetings. I have a question about an older video when you got your Houghton AC. I am getting ready to get a new roof AC. My current model is a Penguin 11,000 BTU and I am thinking about getting the Blizzard 15K. Now, here is my dilemma related to the question. A good friend of mine who worked in AC for years said that if a unit is oversized in an RV or even a home, it will cool down quickly and leave it damp. He said dont make the mistake that so many do thinking more BTU capacity better cooling period, that humidity has a lot to do with it. He said if a unit is oversized, the only fix is to slow the fan down to make it run longer every cycle to cool or use a dehumidifier with the AC. So, what are your thoughts on going from an 11K in a 25 foot trailer to a 15K? The Blizzard is known to have a powerful fan

I'm not familiar with the Blizzard 15K, but your friend is right - getting too large of a unit is almost as bad as getting too small. However, campers are inherently not well insulated, have slides which leak air, etc. which ultimately makes it really difficult to determine what is too much until you purchase it. And the square footage has generally been calculated based upon home insulation. That being said, I personally have questioned whether ours was too large when we're in temperate but high humidity areas - we can't seem to keep the humidity at bay. But when we're south (North Carolina, Florida, Texas, etc.), we're grateful we have the higher BTU. My $0.02 thought - if the 11K BTU unit worked well for you, I'd stick around that range. Good luck with your future AC unit!
